I FOUND THIS IN SOMEONE'S RULES, AND IT'S RELEVANT

I like to know my writing partner. This isn’t always necessary, and if you’re not the sort of person who tries to get chummy with their roleplaying buddies, that’s absolutely fine, but in my experience, the plots and characters that last the longest are the ones with the players that I can message at 3 in the morning with an idea without feeling like I’m bothering them.

it’s complicated–

plots based on songs that talk about the opposite spectrum of love; dysfunctional relationships through the good, bad, and the ugly.

MAKE IT BETTER | by anderson .paak → after being together for years, muse a and muse b’s bond slowly begins to unravel. they’d first met at a young age, where everything was new and exciting, and it was so easy to fall headfirst into the concept of love. as a result of growing up and growing apart, they lose interest in the things they once shared, their communication becomes nonexistent, and the excitement is gone after settling into a boring routine. as they reminisce on their younger years, the couple is faced with an ultimatum - create new memories and make them stay or walk away? 

LONG TIME | by blondie → muse a and muse b have been on and off since the start of their relationship. they can never seem to call it quits, and even during their ‘off’ periods they continue to communicate and fool themselves into thinking they’re just friends. muse a continues to pine over the other when they’re not together and always hopes they’ll get back together, even to the point of sacrificing their own feelings to look after muse b. on the other hand, muse b is more preoccupied with chasing cheap thrills and one night stands, but through the hurt and negative emotions from those temporary flings, muse b always finds their way to muse a for comfort because it’s ‘safe’. 

PERSONAL | by emotional oranges → here the relationship was never defined. as far as muse a is concerned, their ‘relationship’ so far has only been short term and never discussed being exclusive. with that being said muse a does as they please - going out, getting high, seeing other people - and they don’t see anything wrong with it. in muse b’s mind they’ve been seeing each other for a few months, which leads them into believing they’re official despite not having the talk. of course, muse b takes muse a’s behavior personal and often lashes out on them. often times muse a finds this amusing and purposely finds ways to rile up muse b.

ROBOCOP | by kanye west → muse a is almost convinced they’ve lucked out with muse b. at first glance the physical attraction is there, but muse a had no idea that muse b would turn their life upside down. deep down muse b is riddled in insecurities and is often paranoid that muse a is cheating without any proper evidence. at the same time muse b also feels entitled to everything pertaining to muse a - they become a control freak, checking up on muse a’s whereabouts, looking through all of their belongings, and can’t accept the fact that muse a has a personal life. muse a gets fed up and tells muse b to change their ways or it’s over. 

COMMUNICATION | by arin ray ft. dram → muse a has emotionally checked out of their relationship and no longer feels like muse b loves them. they couldn’t be more wrong, because muse b continues to try to get through to muse a in an effort to prove their love. despite all the promises and saccharine words spoken by muse b, muse a maintains their distance and refuses to budge. 

KEVIN’S HEART | by j. cole → muse a has their partner - muse b, who is supportive, loving, and spouse material. despite this muse a can’t stop themselves from chasing after things that could be detrimental to their relationship. whether it be drugs or one night stands. whenever muse a chases after their desires, they feel better about themselves as it helps their ego, but it puts a strain on muse b in the process. muse a keeps trying to convince themself and muse b that they’ll change their ways because they don’t want to lose muse b. but muse a is an addict and turns to doing their dirty deeds in private.

SOMEONE ELSE | by emotional oranges → in a long term relationship, muse a slowly becomes awry. they’re turning into someone with a different character and morality than the person muse b fell for. disappointed who the other has become, muse b tells muse a out of spite to find someone else if they’re unhappy with their relationship. bitterness ensues when muse a follows those words and cheats on muse b.  

GHOSTIN’ | by ariana grande → muse a is in a relationship with muse b, while still being in love with someone else, and muse b knows they can’t compete or compare to them. 

PENDULUM | by fka twigs - the beginning of this relationship begins with sweetness and terms of endearment, but over time this relationship remains stagnant and never develops past the superficial. as muse a falls deeper into an attachment with muse b, they don’t view this relationship on the same level. muse b patronizes muse a, only seeing them as something for show or someone who he can come to when its convenient. the entire relationship is a facade, and muse a begins to see that and questions why they’re in love with muse b - after investing energy in this relationship only to receive nothing in return.

𝒆𝒋 & 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒆

she laughs at how ej seems determined to take a look at her work, even for just a second. how can she say no to that face, so sweet and innocent? but she has to. “ i’m sorry, lenny. ” henrietta’s peculiarity — she loves giving nicknames, which are always different from the ones people choose for themselves. “ you’re a little devil. ” hearing ej call her ‘love’ doesn’t help, at all. she’s aware that’s pretty much her name, still… “ okay, but ! ” her index finger high in the air, at the same height of her big brown eyes. “ just a glimpse. and i choose the page. ” she tries to remember the scenes where she hasn’t put ej’s character so far.

kicking the air excitedly, ej let out a little cheer that sounded closer to a squeal as she agreed to the other's condition, “fine, deal.” she hadn't expected for lovise to actually let her get a glimpse considering the amount of times she had been turned down before- fully expecting another one today- but alas, her luck has changed. “since you get to choose the page, i get three extra seconds, ” holding up three fingers with eyes narrowed to possibly coax the other into letting her see the full page, her persistence failing to falter. “okay i'm ready,�� fixing her seat and widening her eyes to prevent them from blinking and missing any possible detail.

𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂 & 𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒂𝒏

             boxing gloves hung on one shoulder while the other his backpack of a few other gym necessities. caspian wanted nothing more than to resume his daily comings and goings, but the sudden appearances from the other prevented him from doing so, often taking the time to entertain her questions. the male simply wanted a day of PEACE and for spring out of nowhere, he groaned and leaned against the countertop of his small apartment. emerald depths watched the curtsy, fighting back the laugh threatening to leave his lips. ‘ FINE, you can stay. knowing you, you’d only reappear sometime later in the day. ’ he groaned, his gloves and backpack dropping to the floor and kicked into the corner he usually kept it. ‘ why did you decided to grace me with your presence ? ’

brown tresses swayed as valencia nodded in agreement when caspian noted that she would only return to bother him at another point in the day had he asked her to leave. feet swinging in excitement as the other agreed on letting her stay, the brunette twirled the seat so that she was facing the counter, clasping her fingers and resting them on top, “well, i have some very important news,” expression turning from a wide grin to faux seriousness, “i think i'm going to adopt a dog,” gazing up at him to scan for his reaction. “i heard someone trying to open my doorknob last night so i decided it's time for me to get some sort of security,” she explained nonchalantly, “and since i know you're going to refuse to teach me how to box, i thought a dog would be the next best thing.”

𝒗𝒊𝒐 & 𝒚𝒗𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆

whenever yvette had a hard time sleeping, her next move is sketching away. so of course, the young girl was busy listening to music and sketching when vio asked her to go out for milkshake. she was more surprise about him being up at the hour versus the milkshakes. she didn’t question the decision about milkshakes at the time until she realized she didn’t know any places open that sell milkshakes. yet, she still found herself with a delicious milkshake in front of her. anyways, she knew something was on his mind but didn’t want to push him on it. okay, that’s what she wanted to do but she isn’t the patient type. “oh yeah…that scholarship right?” she ask before leaning down to take another sip of her milkshake. after hearing those words, she leans back, slowly. all she could think of was how proud she was of him. a huge smile form on her face as she looks across the table at him. “i knew you was going to do it.” she said after a moment, shaking her head from side to side. “oh i know you will because you still owe me a rematch in ping pong.” she stuck her tongue out at him, giggling. in her moment of happiness for him, it didn’t take long for her to realize that they would be away from each other for months. “15 miles huh?” she sighed softly, crossing her arms over her chest.

a soft chuckle escaped vio's lips as a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips, relieved at the femme's reaction. he wasn't expecting anything bad but he also didn't expect such a positive one. “fifteen hours, yve,” his voice was gentle as his eyes refuse to look up, stuck on a spot on the table in between them, “it's about 960 miles away.” the more he said it out loud, the more it became real and the thought of being away from one of his best friends became more painful. “but honestly, i'll be back for winter break and you'll have your ping pong rematch then even though i'll probably win again,” he bantered, leaning back onto his seat. “i'll facetime you everyday,” vio continued reassuringly, knowing that she's among his speed dials though they would be away from each other, their calls will not lack. “just try not to replace me right away, okay?” a playful smirk etched onto his features.

our  muses  are  camping  in  the  same  campground  /  at  a  party  &  my  muse  decides  to  go  skinny  dipping  and  invites  your  muse  to  join.

my  muse’s  found  a  lost  pet  roaming  around  &  asks  your  muse  if  it’s  theirs  /  to  help  find  it’s  owner.

our  muses  are  classmates  &  they  get  paired  up  for  an  assignment  /  project.

our  muses  are  at  a  mutual  friend’s  wedding  &  got  assigned  seats  next  to  each  other.  ~  neither  one  of  our  muse’s  have  a  date  &  my  muse  asks  to  dance  with  yours.

my  muse  accidentally  calls  your  muse  ( aka the incorrect number )  to  invite  them  to  a  party  but  instead  of  apologizing  &  hanging  up,  my  muse  offers  your  muse  to  still  come  despite  them  being  strangers.

our  muses  are  eating  at  the  same  restaurant  &  my  muse  notices  yours  is  sitting  alone  and  decides  to  sit  with  them  and  keep  them  company.

my  muse’s  outdoor  pet  likes  to  steal  things  and  bring  them  home  &  i  woke  up  to  your  muse  knocking  at  mine’s  door  with  the  pet  in  their  arms  and  a  pair  of  underwear  in  it’s  mouth.

open to — all. (plot.lovise is a comics artist and she’s been working on her latest project. your muse is a dear friend of hers and they’re insisting on seeing the first pages of the comic, but lovise keeps saying no because she is actually basing her main character on your muse.)

“ look, ” she gathers the many flying paper sheets she has spread over her desk, before her friend can take a look at any of her sketches. she is now realizing that inviting them over, before having the chance to hide her work, wasn’t the best idea. “ i’ll tell you about it once it’s done. you’ll be the first to read it. ” she promises, smiling slightly. 

“can i just please take a quick peek?” ej sighed, fully knowing the answer was going to be no. “even just the first page?” bringing her hands together in a pleading gesture, donning a playful pout, “you can literally just flash it for two seconds and i'll be satisfied,” she tried bargaining to possibly coax the other into fulfilling her curiosity, “love, please!”

𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂 & 𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒂𝒏

             a textbook definition of a LONER, caspian often spent his time in his own solitude, opting to be free of petty instances and moronic behavior. everything about the boxer’s demeanor discouraged an interaction with him from his body language down to his face peppered with bruises or cuts. so when the other decided to come around and attempt to WORM their way into his daily routine, he grew suspicious, defensive, and weary of their motives. ‘ i helped you out once. don’t feel obligated to spend time with me. ’ he grumbled, though, a small part of him, somewhere deep, DEEP down enjoyed the company.

if there was one thing valencia learned in the twenty-three years of her young life, it was to be resilient through any situation. but alas, there are still certain things she couldn't handle on her own, so when the other aided her in escaping an unwanted encounter at the club, being his friend became a top priority. ponytail whipping around as she joyously perched onto the nearby stool a slight smirk was already plastered onto her features. “this is no obligation whatsoever, i have arrived to grace you with my presence because i truly want to,” gesturing a curtsy with her arms, “but if you really want me to leave,” taking a dramatic pause her lips turning into a pout  “i'll go,”

Yvette chewed on her bottom lip as she looks at them. She took a sip of her milkshake as she gave them a smile. It was about 3 in the morning and she didn’t know many places that open 24 hours. But they did which ultimately led to them going out for milkshakes. “So are you going to tell me the real reason that you wanted to come here?” She asked them after a moment as she tilts her head to the side. “I mean I’m not complaining about the free milkshake… but you don’t usually do spontaneous things like this so what gives?” She taps her fingers on the table as she takes another sip from her shake. “Now, if it’s good news, just blurt it out. But if it’s bad news, can you wait until I finish my shake?” She questioned with a cheeky grin on her face.

having spent the past three hours pacing back and forth in his bedroom, vio's mind was racing too many miles an hour as he finally made the decision right there and then to make the move fifteen hours away to attend his dream university to finish his degree. so as he sat at the booth in front of his best friend, it took all of his might not to blurt everything out. she was right, this was completely out of character for the male who would normally be sleeping soundly at this point, but news like this was not one to be held until sunrise. “you know the thing i've been talking about this past week?” taking a pause, sipping his milkshake, the coldness providing comfort to his beating chest, “i think i'm going to do it,” it felt good finally saying it out loud, but being in front of her made his heart ache immediately realizing the weight of his decision on their friendship, “the scholarship is too good to pass up and i'll be back in no time,”
