                    defeated  gaze  makes  his  way  towards  her  ,  as  if  she  still  embodied  the  remaining  hope  that’s  left  in  the  galaxy.   yet  she  reminded  him  that  hope  sat  out  across  the  dunes  ,  young  &  full  of  wonder  (  like  his  father  before  him  ).   this  purpose  had  become  his  life  &  she  was  there  to  stop  him  from  losing  his  way  in  it.   this  war  hero  turned  protector  couldn’t  fight  the  way  he  used  to  ,  but  she  was  proof  that  he  maybe  didn’t  have  to  fight  at  all.   there  were  other  ways.

                    this  life  would  destroy  any  other  man  ,  ben  was  lucky  to  have  her  above  all  else.  if  not  for  her  life  threaded  with  his  ,  infinite  sadness  would  have  taken  her  place  (  the  possibility  of  it  is  what  scared  him  most  of  all  ).   he  couldn’t  lose  her  again.  lips  match  her  dares  ,  even  if  there  is  only  a  half-truth  to  them.   ❛  well  ,  this  soldier  has  no  more  sarcasm  left  in  him  ,  i’m  afraid.  ❜  a  beat  as  he  leans  further  into  her  touch.   ❛  will  you  watch  over  the  boy  for  me  ?   will  you  stay  safe  ? i  can’t  lose  you  too  ,  satine.  ❜

     feared    the    guilt    that    swirled    within    him    was    a    battle    not    even    she    could    guide    him    through    but    one    obi-wan    would    have    to    face    alone    (    wondered    if    he    knew    what    it    was    like    to    no    longer    fight    against    what    life    laid    before    him    ).        ❛                                        but    i    can    vow    as    long    as    i    breathe    .    .    .    i    will    remain    here    with    you    &    the    boy.            it    is    where    i    now    belong.                            ❜    a    choice    made    with    full    confidence,    allowed    their    time    to    pass    for    many    years    &    now    their    separate    paths    could    merged    to    one.        leans    to    press    a    fleeting    kiss    to    the    corner    of    his    mouth,    her    forehead    resting    against    his    ❛                                    i    may    not    be    one    with    the    force,    my    love    but    your    unease    is    palpable    &    grows    with    each    passing    hour.                        ❜

                    her  gentle  touch  acts  as  a  thread  ,  weaving  him  back  together  whenever  his  shattered  soul  threatens  to  fall  apart.  his  head  leans  into  her  touch  ,  confining  in  the  wisdom  he  fell  in  love  with  lifetimes  before  this  one—  to  still  have  her  company  after  the  death  of  his  old  life  will  be  his  greatest  privilege  (  even  if  a  blood-stained  warrior  like  him  deserves  no  such  thing  ).

                    ❛  I  am  not  the  man  I  used  to  be  ,  satine.  I  don’t  know  how  I can  help  them.  ❜  eyes  flutter  shut  for  a  brief  respite  ,  as  if  the  warmth  of  her  skin  sang  to  him.  ❛  what  am  I  to  do  ?  risk  it  all  ?  ❜

    ❛                          perhaps    they    do    not    quite    need    the    man    you    once    were.                          ❜    instead    the    man    he    had    become    .    .    .    a    watchful    protector    exiled    to    the    shadows,    hidden    within    their    lives    to    ensure    their    safety.        was    not    a    life    of    fulfillment    in    many    ways    .    .    .    that    seemed    to    be    his    doom    (    to    live    in    half    truths    &    hyperboles    )    ❛                         padmé    entrusted    you    with    this    duty    for    a    very    reason    .    .    .    you    have    lived    to    those    expectations    &    more.                         ❜        it    has    broken    her    heart    to    see    the    fire    that    once    existed    within    his    soul    dwindle    to    mere    embers    .    .    .    

    yet    ease    dares    to    curve    lips    upward,    an    attempt    to    pull    him    from    this    galaxy    of    sorrow    he    tends    to    drown    himself    in.    still    desperately    dreams    for    a    day    that    peace    could    intertwine    in    their    story    again    .    .    .    have    they    not    suffered    enough    grief    to    last    lifetimes    ?        fingers    curl    under    his    chin,    gaze    soaking    in    the    man    before    her    (    when    he    seemed    so    lost    she    could    still    see    the    young    padawan    that    had    captured    her    heart    all    those    decades    prior    )    ❛                      now    you    ask    what    the    delusion    of    a    dreamer    might    be    ?        my    how    things    have    changed.                         ❜
