Hi! Sorry for not getting to this sooner, I haven’t been around.

And I’m not sure yet. I really love this community, I think you guys are great and smart and thoughtful and resilient and just magical. So I hate the idea of giving that up, a lot of fandoms just *suuuuck* these days.

But, also, The Magicians, not even the idea of them, can make me happy anymore. Like, they took all that away. So I’ve just been taking my time, reading GoT fanfic and rewatching BtVS and, you know, self care. I make no promises. Anger can be a powerful tool to get shit done, but I also need a happy place, and the show now sorta just makes me sad.

is there like, a newsletter for the people who wanna know the most important stuff that is happening but also don’t care to interact with the show too much at the moment?

what this also means: everything this fandom is doing in response to the finale? it’s working. persist. resist. kick their asses.

so i’ve been taking some time

and i really don’t think i can ever love this show again. everything’s tainted. but i also don’t want to delete this blog, and i’ll *try* season 5 out of love for the rest of the characters

but mostly

i’ve ordered the books. they’re on their way. there still is a place where quentin gets a happy ending. and i’m ready to visit.

i keep feeling very stupid for having faith that the writers weren’t going to fuck this up on such a monumental scale but i’m really done with that. 

we’re not stupid for trusting that the show would continue following the same tone and structure that it usually did–that bad things happen but there’s always hope. we’re not stupid for thinking that they wouldn’t have quentin commit suicide and write him off the show entirely. we’re not stupid for thinking that there would be some kind of narrative pay off for the massive threads they set up with quentin and eliot.

and if we’re stupid for believing in that? then so is hale, so is summer, so is olivia, so is arjun. so is everyone who had faith that the writers would continue to choose intricate and delicate storytelling over their own arrogant need to be talked about, no matter what the cost.
