i'm a bit curious, what's the job of an animatic editor? i really want to break in as a storyboard artist, but i never heard of that position before now :3 congrats on the job!!

Hii!!! So animatic editors basically take the raw storyboard panels and edit them together along with dialog, and add in sound effects and temp music to establish the vibes and basically turn it into a kind of prototype version of the episode!

Every show is different and depending on the team and needs of the project. Another big part of the animatic editor job is to run edit sessions, usually with their episodic director, to troubleshoot problems, adjust timing to what the director is looking for, etc. And then that's interspersed with bigger edit sessions with the showrunner/supervising director etc where you get notes and iterate. It's a super fun role with a lotta problem solving, and you get a lot of exposure to boards and find out what works/what doesn't work by observing and learning from your director(s) so I could definitely see it being helpful if you're interested in storyboarding!! I hope this helps!!
