❝  KIND  OF  …  ❞  moana  starts  , brows  furrowing  ,  ❝  I  think  it’s  more  like  ,  a  past  life  .  Like  it’s  happened  in  this  time  —  this  world  .  We’re  just  onto  the  new  thing  .  Like  my  grandma  always  talked  about  how  she  would  come  back  to  us  as a  ray  .  She  was  certain  that  would  be  her  next  life  .  Is  that  making  more  sense  ?  ❞  there’s  a  silence  .  for  a  brief  moment  moana  feels  a  pang  of  sadness   ,   the  weight her  grandmother  left  behind  particularly  heavy  on  this  day  .  she  shrugs  ,  letting  the  past  slide  off  with  her  motions  ,  resetting  ,  ❝  so  if  there’s  a  next  life  for  us  ,  what  was  our  life  before  ?   if  you  believe  in  that  of  course  …  ❞

“ oh yeah, that definitely makes more sense! ” pearl hadn’t really thought about reincarnation that often, but it definitely was an interesting theory. it was one she liked thinking about, too. it made life seem like there was a purpose, but if things didn’t turn out exactly perfect it was okay-- better things could come. “ i have no idea. i definitely feel like i was something aquatic, though. i’m drawn to the water and that can’t be insignificant. maybe a dolphin or something? definitely not a shark. or maybe something like an octopus. wouldn’t that be funny? ”

Don’t mess this up, you got this. Lilo kept her smile on her face, she honestly didn’t think this far ahead. “It’s nice to meet you, too! I just was wondering, well… I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out? I haven’t been to the Pier in forever, and Nani and Stitch are busy… And I know it may be a little weird since we’ve never hung out before, but! It could also be super fun.” 

pearl had seen lilo around the neighborhood, so while they hadn’t really ever chatted before, pearl wouldn’t consider her a STRANGER. after hearing lilo’s request pearl let out a small laugh. not because of the question itself, but because of the coincidence of it all. “ well lilo, you must have like a spidey sense or something! i was actually on my way to the pier right now! ” she hadn’t been in a minute herself and decided she didn’t wanna wait for sheldon and tad. turns out it was the perfect day to have that mindset.

“Oh, you wish you were a Parr.” Jack-Jack stood up, one-strapping their backpack. They weren’t paying too much attention to Pearl, but the change in attitude was pretty noticeable and he latched on immediately. “Yea, Cara might hook me up with a free cookie if I bug, and Flo’s is like back towards home,” Jack-Jack said slowly, hovering closer to Pearl’s face to gauge a reaction. “Flo’s doesn’t even have a prolific cookie selection, Pearl.”

pearl couldn’t help but move her head back slowly as jack jack got closer, suddenly very uncomfortable. it almost made her forget he was wanting to see cara. someone she hadn’t seen in a very long time. “ okay, fine. we can take your broke ass to crumble. just please don’t ever do that again, ” she asked as she stood up straighter. “ no need to get all weird on me. ”

pearl: I KNOW!!!! it's like they get some enjoyment out of it.

“I’m gonna say it… Neko Atsume was ahead of its time and is an absolute masterpiece. Call of Duty and Fortnite wish they had the range that Neko Atsume does. Like do you even game if you haven’t tried collecting cats?”

“ YES! you’re absolutely right! ” pearl hadn’t played that game in a minute, but she used to be obsessed with it. “ i don’t think any kill in either game could even come CLOSE to matching the excitement if you saw tubbs, guy furry, or ramses the great in your yard. ”

“Aw, come on, will it really be that bad? You can just clown on him right back, easily. Show them you’re not messing around.” Peach was starting to get a little carried away with the advice, but she was enjoying it nonetheless. Pearl reminded Peach of some of her family back home, which was why she loved helping the younger girl and even spending time with her. “Training is key. You’re already way ahead of a lot of women, Pearl. Use that to your advantage.”

pearl couldn’t help but let out a laugh as peach encouraged her to continue training her friends. it definitely was an advantage she had-- she’d known them since middle school. pearl likes to think she’s the recent they have decent bones in their body ( her and their parents ). “ training can be tough sometimes. i’m running out of incentives for them. i’ve gotta start getting more creative. ”

Moana  shrugs  ,   her  gaze  shifting  towards  the  sunset  and  the  shifting  lights  of  the  pier  ,  illuminating  as  time  moves  on  .  ❝  not  as  much  related  ,  but  okay  maybe  it  is  .  I  just  can’t  help  but  wonder  if  there’s  like  another  version  of  us  somewhere  .  Maybe  not  in a  creepy  murder  tethered  way  but  in  a  ….  other  life  ?  You  know  ?  ❞ 

“ oh, like a different dimension sort of thing? i’ve definitely heard of conspiracies like that! ” pearl wasn’t super into conspiracy theories, but cara was. that’s the only reason pearl had even heard about any of them. “ i think that’s an interesting thought. ”
