Promo Video

A promotional video is part of my launch strategy. I think it would also be a great addition to the Plantra website.

I started to have a look at what I could do on After effects to create a suitable video for Plantra to create excitement around its launch

Auto-animate update

I animated my settings menu complete with a notifications button! I’m really pleased with this result, auto-animate is super fun and rewarding!

Website prototype

I created a website prototype using XD to layout everything I want to include on the Plantra website.

I was inspired from my research to do a block style layout to easily tell the story I wanted to but keep it digestable.

This website layout is so dynamic I love it. The brand has a very similar vibe to mine too, inspired.

Website Inspiration

Plantra’s website will be one page. I think this will benefit telling the brand story and laying out Plantra’s features in a continuous story.

I’ve collected some one page website inspiration before I start wireframing for the website.

Touchpoints

A touchpoint is a message or way a brand reaches out to their target market providing engagement as it allows the brand to be seen by the prospective customer in a favourable way. The goal effective touch points is that it will create opportunity for the purchaser to choose their brand over another competitor.

I want to hit all possible touchpoints that will benefit Plantra’s launch, following the strategies from my research I am confident I can do this.

Starting to think about launching Plantra I did some research about what steps to take in order to ensure a succesful launch.

Define Your Audience: This allows you strategise accordingly. For Plantra the target audience is definitely the Gen Z and millenials so social media wil definitely be a major part of my launch.

Create a Media List: This is simply a list of various publications and websites that your marketing and PR will be tailored to.

Create a Schedule for Everything: Keeping to a strict schedule allows everyone to stay on the same page and ensure an effective launch

Content, Content, Content: I plan to create lots of content to tell Plantra’s brand story, I want to creat a promotional video, a website and lots of merchandise.

Animating the plan

The next thing I wanted to animate was the plan overview. This would be the first real piece of information the user interacted with so I wanted a nice animation to compliment the experience and I think I achieved that.

Im’m looking forward to playing with auto-animate it’s a great feature of XD.

My first micro-animation!

This was super easy to do, I thought I’d start with my nav as it is on almost every screen on the app. I’m really happy with it, it’s simple but works well I think. I want to incorporate more micro animations with a bit more complexity into Plantra as well

Auto-animate in XD

I have been building the Plantra prototype in XD so far and I had seen a few things about the auto-animate feature. I was keen to give it a go and with the help of this video I got a good grasps of how it works, although I knew there was no other way to really learn it than by jumping into the deep end

Animating within Plantra

I’m keen to keep the pace up with applying motion to this project. The next aspect of animating this project I want to delve into is micro-animations within Plantra. My only experience with micro-animations before has been creating them in keynote and I loved the results although I’m hoping to use something other than keynote this time.

The importance of micro animations in ux design

By using micro-animations the user gets support in understanding the hierarchy so elements are placed in context. This creates focus. The user gets a sense of direct manipulation because it sees something happen directly.

Especially with small screens and flat design, it’s an art to show all the necessary information. Because of this we sometimes hide elements. For instance, to clarify how to navigate, micro-animations can be the solution.

Take a hamburger-menu. If it expands without animation, it’s a lot less clear where it comes from. An animation supplies context, making sure the user doesn’t get lost.

Brand experience: Animation can be a way to reinforce your brand experience. Your design gets more character by implementing micro-animations.

Micro animations provide lots of benefits to a design and I’m excited to give it a go to elevate Plantra
