ONE TO WATCH: LUPA
Furiously energetic Electronic Rock band Lupa have announced the long awaited release of their new single 'Nightmare', released on all major platforms on Friday 23rd March. Lupa summarise the meaning behind the track in this   concise yet accurate synopsis.
"Nightmare is about fighting back, an unexpected and unassailable retaliation against turning the other cheek, not this time. In a world where silence and restraint are mistaken for weakness, sometimes fire needs to be fought with fire. Nightmare is the snap of the synapse unleashing the beast within, you’ve been pushed too far this time and the sleeping giant is awake and has taken control, and you’re loving every minute of it."
Lupa's distinctive electronic rock sound is a fusion of EDM, Drum and Bass and Rock Music, defined by Livvy M's powerful and charistmatic vocals, Timothy Jack on guitar and synths, Anderson on bass and drummer Craig. The force behind the music is only exaggerated by Lupa's explosive live performance. Lupa's band members mimic the sounds of their instruments, the soaring synths, the monstrous bass lines and the anthemic choruses represented by the domination of the stages they play. As with any rock band, as much time and commitment goes into the craft of the live performance as goes into the craft of the music to maintain an enthralling live show. In Latin, Lupa means 'She-Wolf' which could not be more appropriate for such a feisty, female fronted, explosive band. Best described as the angry rock obsessed lovechild of Paramore and Chase and Status.
CATCH LUPA HEADLINING THE DOME AS PART OF ROGUES' GALLERY ON SATURDAY 2ND JUNE.

ONE TO WATCH: ROMANCES
London based five-piece Romances are kicking up a storm on the capital's emerging live music scene with their trilogy of 2017 singles. The debut releases began with 'How Can I Be Dead', released back in September. The single introduces the driving force behind the band's debut, both in the obvious waves they have made in the short time since its release but also in the pulsating rhythm of their debut. It is a solid introduction to the band, keeping the listener hooked and hungry for more. After teasing their fans with a couple of mere 15 second clips, Romances returned with 'Silence', the ballad that is anything but. It is delicate yet powerful, with the light guitar riffs allowing the vocal melody to take the forefront and let the lyrics and message be the focus. Finally, 'Do You Wanna Know?' completes the trio of powerful debuts. The finale comes to life from the first note, it is haunting, enchanting and hits you deep. The leaping vocals and much heavier instrumental completes the trilogy with just the right amount of alarm and suspense to leave us waiting for Romances next release.
'Romances are indicative of what makes their hometown of London beautiful - International multiculturalism, freedom, expression, creation and rock and roll.'

Four piece indie rock band, Only Sun, are making waves with their uptempo, feel good melodies and strong vocal hooks. The band consists of Euan Bryden, Ed Miguens, Daz McManus, Taylor Lacey and Aabid Kanji, who came together in 2015 to form the "topically tropical indiepop with whiplashed bass lines and wide-eyed melodies" that have taken them far in 2017.

ONE TO WATCH: JEROME THOMAS
East London based singer/songwriter, Jerome Thomas, fuses R&B, Jazz, Soul, and Hip Hop sounds to form the unique music that he labels FOE (Freedom of Expression). Following the roaring success of Thomas' Ep 'Conversations', released in 2016, the vocal powerhouse has released a two track single 'Didn't Know' / '1989'.
Over the last 2 years Jerome has gained strong support from stations including Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Reprezent, Radar, and Rinse FM; and key tastemakers such as Lost Culture, MTV, Singers Room, Skullcandy & MTV.
Jerome Thomas' FOE mantra also stands for 'Fusion of Everything' which is represented flawlessly in his two latest tracks. 1989 is noticeably ambient and atmospheric, combining effortlessly smooth vocals and vocal effects that compliment the alternative, electronic production and slow percussion. The first track Didn't Know offers the delicate and sometimes contrasting keys from Ezra Collective's Joe Armon Jones. The difference between 1989 and Didn't Know proves Jerome Thomas' eclectic range and songwriting skill, by introducing a 'broken, free flowing downtempo beat' that brings a completely different, more lively style still drawing on his immense range of influences.

ONE TO WATCH: BIG SPRING
London based alternative rock band, Big Spring, invite explosive melody-driven rock combined with enough of a pop sensibility to make their music commercial and memorable. Although brothers Alex and Ollie Loring have been playing in bands together since they were at school, Big Spring represents something much bigger and anyone who hears them will be gripped on watching it grow.
“It’s baby steps at the moment, we’re going to just keep doing what we’re doing: writing then recording then releasing singles, every eight weeks if we can,” Ollie promises.
Catch Big Spring for their headline show at Camden Assembly on Wednesday 6th December.

ONE TO WATCH: IGLOO
Brighton based Igloo are an atmospheric alternative rock band based in Brighton. Their unique sounds draw on hard hitting drums, driving bass lines fused with an ambience that invents a new and original sound. The band, made up of Mark Barnes (Lead Vocals and Guitar), Pearse Hemestretch (Bass and Backing vocals) and Will Chapman (Drums), formed toward the end of 2012 and have, over the years, developed their eclectic sound toward their latest release 'Fools'.
'Fools' opens almost like the beginning of an epic film. The verses are relaxed and melancholic, the vocals in the forefront, supported by the guitar. As they move toward the chorus the vocals and guitar move to much more of a conversation, perfectly intertwined, communicating with each other. The music grows and grows leading to a huge explosion portrayed not only in the instrumentation but also in the video. The combination of these features makes for engaging, almost hypnotising, listening.

ONE TO WATCH: UP DOWN GO MACHINE
Up Down Go Machine's punchy, but delicate folk melodies distinctly define their stripped back, acoustic guitar led sound. Hailing from Wales, Lincolnshire and Kent, the band are breaking the London live music scene, playing at staple mark venues including The Old Queens Head, 93 Feet East, Tooting Tram & Social, Cargo and The Bedford to name a few. Up Down Go Machine performed at the 2012 Olympic Games and from this show were invited to play 2 Paralympic Games and the V.I.P Tent. The band also graced the BBC Introducing Stage of SO Festival.
The four-piece consists of siblings Stephen and Ria Hallwood, who met bassist Stephen Plumb and drummer Sam Martin to form Up Down Go Machine. Their unashamedly heartfelt and direct lyrics fused with catchy percussive elements and their high energy performance produce an interactive and infectious performance. With strong nods to Mumford and Sons, Ben Howard, Jeff Buckley and Ray LaMontagne.
The encompassing ambience of Up Down Go Machine's latest single 'Gambler', creates an understated, theatrical twist on the country-rock sound. From the first chord, 'Gambler' sends a drifting chill that resonates through the listener, with the huge dynamics punching through to the core.
BBC Introducing's Tim Johns sums the passion that makes Up Down Go Machine with the following. "One of the best things about my job is finding artists who have that special something. It's like striking gold - you quickly look around to check no-else has seen it yet. Up Down Go Machine are one of those acts. Beautiful songs, perfect performance and strong, powerful vocals, not only do they have everything they need to go far, but they're a pleasure to deal with."
Catch Up Down Go Machine this Tuesday 24 October at O2 Ritz Manchester, and be sure to keep an eye out for shows near you. This is not one you'll want to miss.
