What I’ve Got: Panasonic Hair Dryer Nanokea

Since I already posted “What I’ve Got” with several pink items, I have decided to make a pink series documentation of my belongings. So again, another electronics I have in pink: a multi-functional hair dryer from Panasonic. I bought this hair dryer in Japan when this dryer was a big hit in the market and everyone gave high review of this product. (although I am not so sure if it is just a marketing strategy…)

In fact, I didn’t feel super impressive with its function. One of the biggest feature of this product is using “Nanocare” technology which holds more than 1000 times the moisture than minus ion, the dryer can help control damaged hair, care for the scalp, and eliminate static electricity while air blowing hair. Personally I don’t think it works surprisingly well with my hair because it still gets very messy from time to time. In terms of the design, I really like the color but not very satisfied with the size. Does hair dryer have to be that big? Also I begin to wonder: with so many functions within a product, how exactly people can benefit from it? or how to encourage people to try different function? since most people end up using the normal function after impulse buying for fancy functions.n

What I’ve Got: Macbook Sleeve Bag

I am very much satisfied with my new Macbook - it’s light, chic and with long battery life! To better protect my new laptop, I have decided to buy a cover for it. At first, I wanted to buy a hard case with marble but ended up buying a bag on Amazon so that I can show the original color when I normally use it! In order to match my pink Macbook, I picked a sleeve bag with pink. The product came with exact the same color shown on the webpage and its interior is made of velvet material so it gives the laptop a protection against dust, shocks and scratches. The exterior is make of poly urethane material with partial water-proof. The weight is light and fits my laptop perfectly! From an image on Amazon, next time I should try carrying this bag as a fashion item.

What I’ve Got: Single-Serve Blenders in pink(again!)

I regard myself as a not “girly” type person. However, when I looked the electronics I recently bought on Amazon, they all share a common feature: with the color pink! I think the reason is that I want to buy something that look unique so I can easily recognize my personal belongings when I am at kitchen(I live in a dorm where students share kitchen)

I used to use vitamix to make smoothies when I was at home. Because of the budget and size concern, I found this Hamilton Beach blender on Amazon which costs $14 (Vitmax5200 costs $407). Personally I like its design that the blending jar can serve as a travel cup so that I don’t have to prepare another cup and can enjoy the smoothies right away! Overall I am happy with the purchase and have fun design my own drink of a day.

What I’ve Got: Macbook in pink

Finally I got my new laptop to replace an old version Macbook Pro I borrowed from my friend for the last semester. I used to use a Macbook Air since 2010 but it was broken because of water damage. Before switching to a new version of Macbook, I doubted whether I should buy a new one or just a second one to save some budget. I am glad that I chose to buy a new one. The most important reason is that this one is very light! with less than 1kg, compared with over 2.5kg of Macbook Pro, I don’t even feel like I am carry a laptop all day long! While there are some negative comments about limiting the USB port, personally I like the design of the new charger. Because it has two separate parts: the power adapter and the charger cable, I can simply store two parts separately so I don’t have to tie the wires all the time and that will damage the wire if I don’t tie it well. 

My old charger always ended up with this look after a long time use. I hope with the new charger design, I don’t have to buy a new one every two or three years. (But who knows what kind of change will be introduced in new version?)

Eyes of News

News of Eyes is a mobile application that designs for semiliterate Indian. The idea of landing page comes from Momentum that users can input their name to be a personal dashboard featuring different time(morning, afternoon and night) with a inspirational image of India.

Users can drag to different location to learn either local or international news. Also there will be a weather forecast of the particular place.  

The news page mainly features large images and will change to reflect different regions and news events. 

Once the users click on certain page, there will be four different sections. The first will be an image with limited words. The users can choose the audio version of the news. They can also mark the words they do not understand and check the definition in the dictionary. The overall idea of this application will be a personalized and user-friendly product providing news with educational purpose.

My Wearable Story HEATTECH: Japanese Technology

As far as I could remember, my mom always forced me to wear merino wool inner when winer came and personally I just didn’t enjoy the texture of wool because it made me feel itchy.

I did not remember clearly when I started to wear HEATTECH. But when I lived in Japan, it was nearly impossible to find a person who never heard of or wore HEATTECH. According to a survey conducted by UNIQLO, more than 9 out of 10 (96.3％) people surveyed recognized the brand and1 of 2 (55.3%) owned HEATTECH. People even mentioned HEATTECH “changed my daily life” (80.8％) because it helps them engage in a “wider variety of activities” or dress “more fashionably.” It also influenced people inwardly, helping them enjoy winter more proactively. 

So...how does HEATEACH work? What’s the technology behind it?

The concept of HEATTECH is to transform people’s stereotype of winter clothing. In the past, it was taken for granted that people need to put on multiple layers of bulky clothes to stay warm. HEATTECH, UNIQLO's winter wear, has changed such conventional wisdom for winter, providing a new level of comfort in people’s lives. HEATTECH was jointly developed by UNIQLO and world leading textile manufacturer TORAY INDUSTRIES since its launch in 2003. Heat generation and heat retention are two main functions of HEATTECH. On the other hand, the air pockets in the material then store this heat in the fibers to keep the warmth on your skin. To me, the most important reason I chose HEATTECH is the fiber also reduces discomfort from static electricity, when putting on and taking off the garment. It also have a wide range of variation(37 design variations with maximum 23 colors) so you can almost wear it everyday without picking the suitable for your daily life. 

The function of HEATTECH has constantly evolved, with adding more collection using HEATTECH technology. So basically now I can wear HEATTECH from top to bottom while keeping warm without wearing too much.
