attention span dissipating over an hour ago, miller now found himself only infrequently hearing the words that left pembroke’s lips, despite his eyes being focused on the way they curved and dipped as she spoke. fortuitously, she’d been busying herself with reading over his efforts, sanctioning him to slyly pull his phone from his pocket, hiding the glowing screen at his side whilst offering the odd hum and ‘ yeah ’ when a comment was made. determinately, the end grew near, having convincingly pretended to cram preposterous figures and equations into his mind, the male’s body instantly sat upright, discarding his mobile contrivance once the blonde reached over for aliment. “ really ? ‘cause it feels like i know nothin’ at all. ” he lied, voice falling victim to expressing his boredom with a subtle deadpan in his tone. the ordeal was taking longer than he’d hoped, the girl’s astuteness clouded over ostensible interest in anything else, notably, what miller wanted. it was then that he decided to spring into action and resting his elbows on the coffee table afore them to make the pair more proximate. “ hey, thanks for doin’ this for me. i know you probably had to blow off an eligible bachelor or somethin’ to free up your night. ” miller mused with an amicable lilt, with a knowing smile tugging at one corner of his lips and amusement across his features, as he watched pembroke chew on her food.

pembroke was aware that miller’s RESOLVE was dwindling, in fact it probably had ғɪᴢᴢʟᴇᴅ out right around the time he set down the pizza box onto the counter. but the blonde, ever the 𝑒𝓇𝓊𝒹𝒾𝓉𝑒, ｃｏｎｔｉｎｕｅｄ on to help him with his studies. though many things flew over her head, sarcasm wasn’t one of them. so his reply, while ᴍᴏɴᴏᴛᴏɴᴇ and expressionless noted his ｌａｓｓｉｔｕｄｅ for the subject at hand. in a show of submission to the male’s disinterest pembroke’s pink lips curve into a small smile before she pushes the books away from them and sets down her pen. “ you know more than you think you do, ” is her unwavering reply. a soft FLUSH rises from her neck onto her cheeks at the mention of a 𝒹𝒶𝓉𝑒 or anything close to a date. she’s still ｃｈｅｗｉｎｇ on her bite of pizza as he says this, making her forget all motor functions, resulting in her coughing slightly and reaching for her glass of water. earlier in the night she had DOWNED the black coffee that he so kindly brought with him. “no, um, no dates. so don’t worry this wasn’t a big deal, ” pembroke ｍｕｍｂｌｅｓ out her promise.

pilot g-2 taps ｓｐｏｒａｄｉｃａｌｌｙ against the coffee table before the girl sitting cross legged on the floor. ʜᴇᴀᴠʏ text books flipped open to pages filled with calculus equations. she’s going over his answers, figuring out the problems for herself as she writes in the margins of the graph paper she 𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓅𝒾𝓁𝓎 supplied miller with. “ this looks GOOD miller. i don’t know why you needed my help, honestly. ” she murmurs, eyes still on the paper before her. the blonde finally lifts her head up to grin at him and ᴘᴀssᴇs him the paper. after handing it over to the male sitting beside her she ｒｅａｃｈｅｓ across the coffee table and grabs a slice of PIZZA. she eagerly takes a big bite, rewarding herself for doing math problems with food. “ i just corrected a couple things, that’s it. ”
