Obviously it is not ever a bad thing to want physical changes to help get where you want in your transition, but, once you start to realise people built like you now can be beautiful or handsome or even enviable for what are usually considered transgender traits, it can go a long way towards helping you feel like those traits aren't so bad to have after all...

a common inside joke about the BCG vaccine has been going viral once again recently. it’s about how latin americans can always spot one another because of the vaccine scar they have on their arms, since we all got the shot as a baby and are usually crazily proud of it (is this a weird flex?).

there is countless memes going around, one of them shows a non latin-american pedro pascal fan calling it a sexy beauty mark after seeing him shirtless.

even though all of this is hilarious, it feels weird to see this subject come up without you being in it. I thought I would share just for the funsies, but also, do you guys not take this vaccine in the US? Is it just because TB doesn’t have a lot of cases yearly? Is it because of something else? Do you also have this sexy beauty mark?

The BCG vaccine is more than 100 years old and remains the only vaccine for tuberculosis--even though we could've already developed new vaccines if the rich world gave a shit about TB.

BCG is effective at preventing death and serious illness from tuberculosis in young children, but it has very little (if any) efficacy in adolescents and adults. For this reason, it makes sense to give the vaccine in places where lots of kids contract TB. In the U.S., rates of active TB are low enough that young children hardly ever get infected, and so it wouldn't have much impact on our burden of tuberculosis.

So that's why some people have that sexy beauty mark and others do not!

but, they make plural frogs

this implies that they were unable to make a superior frog and instead resorted to many small frogs to counter the one big frog

So I have a crush on this person and I don't know if it's valid when I identify as a lesbian. So he uses he/him pronouns and he's a butch lesbian. But he presents himself as masc and wants to pass as a man. So if I have feelings for him does it make me less of a lesbian when I know he's butch and thinks of himself as a lesbian? I'm kind of new to the whole community...

your identity should not inform your feelings, your feelings should inform your identity. if you like him, then you like him- identity labels have nothing to do with that. if you’re new to this, you could just be a lesbian who likes a really butch guy, you could be bisexual, you could be both or neither.

besides: he’s a lesbian, youre a lesbian… this violates no holy queer rules or whatever. its pretty simple. you like him, regardless of your identity.

I'm pretty sure Avraham failed the test

like if I was given a test and the person giving the test very obviously told me that I was wrong and not to actually do the thing, I would assume I failed the test

also, that's about where the torah switches focus from Avraham to Yitzchak. There were no more tests after that, his story just kind of ends. His next big task is to just marry off his son and that's it he's done.

Like, I really don't think he passed that test I think he failed for refusing to question God for giving him a very unreasonable task.

And it's not like others haven't been rewarded for questioning or even fighting authority

like Yaakov is very definitely rewarding for tricking his Dad cause like right after it says he has a dream where God basically told him good job you will have many descendents. Then later on he literally fights an angel and it's a good thing cause he got renamed Israel as part of a blessing and now we're B'nei Israel

And Moshe definitely questioned authority that was like his whole thing. And even beyond Pharoah, he also had to reason with God to get them to not kill everyone.

Even Avraham that time he convinces God to not kill everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah if there are ten good people. There aren't but Avraham's questioning and reasoning with God is portrayed as a good thing.

Also, Judaism is generally very supportive of questioning authority and child sacrifices are very specifically banned in the torah, so It makes no sense that Avraham passed the test because he would've obeyed God even to kill his child. Like that moral is pretty inconsistent with the rest of the Torah.

idk it is sad to me how “twink death” means growing old, which often means getting fat and becoming disabled and going gray and whatever, is equivalent to basically dying for some people. the implication is that thesee things everyone will go through to some extent make you no longer sexy, ergo loveable and worthy of life. can you imagine being a young gay man who hears and internalizes this? the levels of self hatred one had to live with? ive never been more aware of the little circle i live within.
