Don't you just love it when the team get captured and it's revealed that Whumpee has met Whumper before.
The twisted delight in Whumper's voice when they say "Oh, has Whumpee never mentioned me?"
The shame burning in Whumpee's face as Whumper recounts the fun they used to have together.
The confusion, disbelief, and horror on the teams' faces as the truth unfolds.

Thinking about manhandling again (a common pasttime)
Whumpee being forced to their knees in front of Whumper and/or their team
Pushing Whumpee's head down to make them stare at the floor and keeping them in the uncomfortable slumped posture
Whumpee being hauled to their feet by a grip on their upper arm, maybe causing bruising
A hand on the back of Whumpee's neck to force them down, either to the ground or over a surface like a table in order to wrestle them into cuffs
Dragging Whumpee back by the ankle when they try to crawl away from Whumper
Shoving a handcuffed Whumpee forward impatiently
Whumper surprising Whumpee and grabbing them from behind, an arm wrapping around their neck or a hand covering their mouth to keep them quiet
Just
Manhandling~
#oooooooh i need to write Immediately#if nothing's got me i know manhandling tropes have got me#manhandling

Some comfort (whump??) dialogue prompts that are EXACTLY my cup of tea:
- "Shh... it's okay, just close your eyes. I'll be here when you wake up, I promise."
- "Hey, no- stop that...! You'll rip the stitches if you keep doing that!"
- "Focus on my voice... I'm here..."
- "No, let me do it. You're injured."
- "That's it, just feel me... Focus on the way my chest rises as I breathe... Try to follow my lead..."
- "It's safe to fall asleep. It's okay. You don't have to worry about anything, I'm here with you."
- "What you're feeling is a bottle of water that I'm holding to your mouth. Come on, drink some of it..."
- "My hands are here if you want to hold them, okay? You can tighten the grip as much as you want, don't worry about hurting me. You won't."
- "It's me... It's just me, it's okay...*
- "It's all over now, everything is okay..."

That moment when Whumper has knocked Whumpee to the ground and is standing over them, just waiting. When Whumpee finally tries to get up, they press them back down with a foot on the back. They don't hurt them yet. For now, it's all about power.

waitwaitwait i have a favorite trope i need to do more of
whumpee is sleeping/semiconscious and frowning, and caretaker gently traces their furrowed brow with their thumb and watches the tension melt away

Magical healing in whump, a re-balancing
I really enjoy whump in fantasy settings - but I know many folks feel like magical healing can get in the way of good whumping and meaningful caretaking (because of how easily it fixes things). Thus, I thought I'd share some ideas on re-balancing it for whump-centric writing and RP! ^^
(note that this is still in regard to a rather vanilla kind of healing, that's supposed to bring relief without any horrific, long-term consequences. There are some cool ideas out there for magical healing that can be downright dangerous or traumatizing, but this is something different!)
there is only as much magical healing the patient's body can take, because the magic works through forcing biological processes - but without providing much additional energy for them to occur. That way healing can be taxing on both healer and the patient, drawing on their body's resources - and thus has to be done in more than one phase if the injuries are serious. The amount of additional energy provided by the spells could vary depending on the healer's skill, but giving more than absolutely necessary would always be very inefficient
the longer the injury exists, the more difficult it is to heal with magic - which makes battle-healing somewhat viable, but leaves a lot of room for injuries to linger if that narrow window is missed.
the nervous system may fail to catch up with magical healing - and the patient may still feel pain despite the flesh no longer being damaged. Then, they may still need to give their body some quality time, so that the nerves and the brain "believe" that the healing was "real".
healing can feel different for the patient depending on the healer's skill and source of power. It can be jittery and uncomfortable if the healer lacks experience or they're under strain, or it can feel very soothing in opposite cases (enter the scenarios where the caretaker struggles to make things as comfortable as possible for the whumpee).
if curses or magical corruption are being cleansed, it could feel like a tug of war within the patient's tissues - either painful or just really freaky and uncomfortable, before it gets better
magical healing does nothing to clean wounds of debris or contamination. A mostly clean wound healed by magical means could possibly be safer from infection, but to a varying extent - so it's always better to manually clean it before mending.
healing potions are similar to spells in how they force the body to heal - thus chugging too much at once can cause someone to get real tired real fast, or even outright faint (adrenaline could probably keep that from happening, but not for long). Also, drinking too much in one go could prevent the potion from being absorbed effectively, thus leading to some of it being wasted - always better to go slow
with alchemical means, it might also be most efficient to have the patient drink some of the potion, and put some of it onto the wound as a compress, creating more opportunities for caretaker/whumpee interaction. Again, going slow, touching wounds grass... I hope some of you will find this useful! :D If you have thoughts or more ideas, please let me know in the comments! ^^
#YES love some healing magic with some asterisks and caveats#i have a personal fondness for healing magic that comes from the healer's blood#like the salubri in vampire: the masquerade#cure any illness heal any injury but you gotta get your blood in there to do it#and watch out! cuz that neosporin blood smells just as tasty to other vamps as human blood if not more#magical healing

An ill or injured character is conscious, but unsure whether it鈥檚 safe to advertise the fact- having woken up, they lie still, taking stock of their unfamiliar surroundings through scarcely-cracked eyelids as they continue to feign sleep.

one thing i never really appreciated about whipping is how you are very literally unable to take care of it yourself afterwards. someone else has to treat it for you because you physically cannot reach it. i just think thats neat.
#yeah op you get it#can be utilized for great cruelty (forced to lie in a vulnerable position and suffer)#or tenderness (the intimacy of having a wound tended to that you cant even see)#whipping

That thing where the character got their ribs beat the hell out of, but they're being stoic about it, and then someone frendly slaps their back or side and they just cry out in pain and curl in.

I'm obsessed with the idea of a sick whumpee being so tired and miserable that they just start sobbing. They can't even explain to caretaker what's wrong because they're so out of it, so caretaker is just left to trial and error.
#push your characters until they're sobbing uncontrolable messes its good for your health#maybe not theirs#but certainly yours#exhaustion#crying
