I realized that, besides Pepto, Moxi, Heathcliff, and Faust, I've never posted any outfits I've made here. I'll share some that I think are nice.

Also, as a guy who loves math for some reason - I know a lot of people aren't liking the toy pit polls very much, but I thought it was fun. If you don't want to see "answers" (I don't have anything super concrete, just possibilities) don't click ahead.

Since they're polls, the first thing I thought is that oh, it's not quite like the classic jellybean jar thing. Sure, you can make an estimate, but you're given numbers that are already pretty ballpark, so it's just like guessing a multiple choice question.

However, because there are answers, and those answers are connected (numbers that add up to a sum), you can reduce that guessing from 4 multiple choice questions down to just one. Better chances!

It was a little tedious but I'm bored and love math, so I added up all of the possible combinations of paw/horse/crab numbers from the polls and only four combinations (out of 64) match any of the sums in the sum poll:

235 + 277 + 247 = 759

235 + 299 + 239 = 773

242 + 277 + 283 = 802

242 + 313 + 247 = 802

(Probably. Could be wrong.)

From then it's just a guess. I like the second number the most. :)

Okay. Main tab updates. ⬇️

First, we've welcomed two new, unaltered dragons to the lair: mocha and soup!

Today, I finally gave pepto's ice daughter nyquil a new secondary gene, and she looks great with this skin.

And lastly, the two Nocturne hatches I kept from this past NOTN have all their genes, plus matching names! I'm happy to introduce figment and pigment today!

I think I got really lucky with these hatches. They ended up really cool...

Not your normal update: Local Numbers enthusiast brings you some statistics about dragon breed population numbers. Because i felt like it and it was fun.

*These numbers are not 100% accurate as the numbers update consistently as I am collecting the data.

My prediction going into this was that, for the most part, older and more common breeds would have higher populations. "Older" ended up being fairly accurate; rarity did not seem to have much of an effect.

Highest Modern Breed Pop. All: 1 - Guardian (11.7% of the entire site's dragons - way more than I would've expected!) 2 - Skydancer (9.7% of total) 3 - Imperial (9.6% of total) NE (Non-exalted): 1 - Imperial (11% of all non-exalted dragons) 2 - Guardian, Skydancer (9.4% of NE; I don't feel like checking which is marginally higher, so they both get to go here) 3 - Fae (7.8% of NE)

Lowest Modern Breed Pop. All: 1 - Fathom (0.3% of total) 2 - Obelisk (1.6% of total) 3 - Bogsneak (2.1% of total) NE: 1 - Fathom (0.9% of NE) 2 - Snapper (1.8% of NE) 3 - Obelisk (2.4% of NE)

I really wasn't expecting Imperials to make top 3. Or Skydancers, for that matter. But the lowest population sizes make sense - for the All category, those are the three most recently added Modern breeds. Clearly, Skydancers were added close enough to launch that it didn't seem to affect their numbers at all. And oh, Snappers... you poor things.

Ancient breeds have much smaller proportions for the same reason as above: they're all "new" (relative to launch breeds).

Highest Ancient Breed Pop. All: 1 - Gaoler (2.2% of total) 2 - Veilspun (1.7% of total) 3 - Banescale (1.5% of total) NE: The order is the same; percentages of non-exalted dragons are 2.7%, 2.4%, and 2% respectively. Aberrations are tied with Banescales.

I didn't bother to do a "lowest population" list for Ancients. If I ordered them from greatest to least, it would be almost identical to the release order; Banescale and Aberration are swapped, as well as Aether and Undertide. Sandsurge & Veilspun breed changes costing gems does not seem to have affected population like I thought it would, although Sandsurge and Auraboa are very close.

Aside from population numbers, I also looked at exalt rate. Originally I was curious if a breed getting exalted more meant people liked them less and therefore didn't want to keep them around as often. Here's how that went.

Highest Modern Breed Exalt% 1 - Ridgeback (84.8% of all Ridgebacks on site are exalted) 2 - Snapper (84.62%) 3 - Tundra (84.06%)

Lowest Modern Breed Exalt% 1 - Fathom (44.29%) 2 - Obelisk (70.44%) 3 - Wildclaw (72.24%)

Sitewide Exalt%, for comparison Modern: 80.86% Ancient: 68.82% All: 79.72%

Once again, the newest breeds have the lowest percentage exalted, followed by both Rare breeds (Coatl is #4). Unlike their total population, Bogsneaks' exalt rate seems to have stabilized completely. The highest ones… well, I see people call all of those ones ugly a lot, so I guess high exalt rate is a decent metric of "who does no one like."

Ancient breed exalt rates are what you'd expect - they follow the release date thing pretty well. I won't post the rankings, but I will note that the Everlux exalt rate is only around 21%. As it turns out, recency also causes exalt rate to be significantly lower.

There is one more metric I was curious about. Given that...

population & exalt rate increase at currently unknown rates over time

ancient breeds' values for these are all significantly lower than most modern breeds

...I was wondering...

what are the (approximate) rates of population and exalt rate growth

how long would it take for an ancient breed to reach the same level as the moderns?

I can't apply these projections to Modern breeds, since their growth rates are probably different, but I wish I could. I would love to know, theoretically, when I could expect Fathoms to reach 2 million+ total population.

Anyway, all I did was compare the population (ALL only) to "days since release" for all Ancient breeds and then made a couple graphs.

The population growth is approximately linear with a growth rate of about 1020 dragons per day. To reach the average population of a current Modern breed (5 million+), it would take… 15.45 years (5,638 days). But modern breeds have such a large range of population sizes, I don't really feel like an average is great to compare to.

Exalt rate growth rate is more logarithmic. I can't get as accurate of a reading on this one, but it looks like it would take around 6.44 years (2,350 days) for an Ancient breed's exalt rate to reach the Modern average. Gaolers, you're almost there!

Anyway, wow, I did this for three hours. I love numbers. And dragons.

Status time!

tl;dr - I have obtained parents for the rest of my Earth projects, finished one of my rental projects, and welcomed a couple of new dragons on the side.

first thing's first - another fandragon project is done far quicker than I expected! it's the sable/umber/shadow M from the last post. he still needs 2/3 of his genes, but i at least have him!

next, i have purchased parents for my last four Earth projects. once the six that I am currently working on are finished, i will be moving to Nature. (after Nature I'm not sure; I may go back to Water.)

these pairs are Eins x venus, for a chocolate/antique/umber M..

..Shaco x Eternal, for a soil/hickory/goldenrod F..

..garbanzo x Gwendolyn, for a banana/amber/peach M..

..and the next pairing brings me to my next update: new permas! while looking for parents for my shadow/heather/eggplant M, i realized that my long-time resident slurpee would be a great pick! the user i got the dragon from gave him to me for free and was very kind, so rather than just breed changing him to modern and letting him sit in my project tab all bland and basic, i gave him a makeover and decided to make him a permanent resident. my fourth pairing is slurpee x paradiso!

i also bought a beautiful skydancer a couple of days ago, and named her valerie after a character i'm fond of.

finally, i have some ancient babies! i'm unsure if i'll keep all of these around, but maple and sugilite are staying for sure.

only been a couple of weeks since my last update, but a lot has happened since then!!

tl;dr, more dragons getting their genes, new arrivals, progen makeovers, and YI SANG FINALLY BORN!

okay, first thing's first: i FINALLY got my XXY black/chocolate!! shout out to minecraft and faust for hatching me an xxy obsidian/chocolate that i used as the new father. they wegged me and i still got it first try with him.

next announcement: more ancients!! more genes!! puzzle and mirai got their genes recently.

i've also recently welcomed twobrains and marpesia to my lair!

finally, my progenitor dragons, who have been sitting in my hibernal den for two years (since i started the game, basically) got a total overhaul! here are talulah and craftsmanship's before and after pics! (don't ask why i named him that. i don't know.)

lastly, a couple more (much smaller) updates: i finalized my plans for my XYY heather/avocado and am turning him into an undertide! i may or may not have still had one of my clanbound undertide breed changes from when the breed first came out. um. smiles. anyway blossom looks like hell to obtain and i'm not looking forward to it but i still want it!!

i've also started a couple more projects via nest rental: the antique/obsidian/ruby imperial F i mentioned last update, as well as the below two: sable/umber/shadow? M (not 100% on the tert color) and marigold/vermilion/oilslick F (i actually started this one a while ago and just forgot to ever mention her afaik. oops)

usual update post! tl;dr - starting to bring some more ancient breeds into my main tab, going to be breeding OOAK Aberrations, and finally getting my old gene projects their finished looks!

first off, i am STILL working on XXY Black/Chocolate Tundra M and Iris/Denim/Black Coatl M. they are not being forgiving. next, i thought snowbale and bismuth might be a little lonely as the only dusthide and banescale in my lair, so i bought them each a friend/mate. here are gladius and cranberry !

i'll probably do the same for my other ancients as they get their genes, which brings me to my next update:

orchid, who's been sitting in my project tab for.. probably over a year? finally got her last gene !!

i got lucky and found the exact dragon i needed (in terms of colors + flight) way back then, so didn't have to go through the breeding project hassle.

seaslop, one of my original aethers, also got her genes !

i love her color combination so much... the wings really look like they're reflecting the color of her body there are still nine dragons waiting in my project tab, seven of which have definite plans:

so these guys will hopefully be completed and moved to their respective tabs soon :)

finally, i wanted to mention the other thing i'm starting to work on, which is a pair of aberrations for breeding cool ooak hatchlings to sell :) Dalmatian and Zebra will be the parents of similarly monochrome speckly babies.
