What is Kybella?

For double chin correction we offer Deoxycholic acid injections that are commonly referred to as Kybella. These are not just FDA-approved but provide dramatic results non-surgically and help in enhancing the appearance of chin area and helps in reducing the skin fullness in sub mental region of the face.

Alternative treatment modalities available to this are liposuction and surgical intervention. However, through Kybella injections no anesthesia is required, there is no or very less downtime after the treatment and relatively visible affects are achieved after 3-4 sessions in most cases.

Who should get Kybella?

Precautions for the Treatment

Although there is no special preparation required for the treatment as it is non-surgical. However, the treatment should not be scheduled right before a public event or gathering for the patient. The patient should wash the face and neck region before the treatment to ensure no foreign particles like dust can cause infection at the injection site. Along with that, random medicines like pain killers or antibiotics should be avoided after the treatment to avoid bruising or inflammation after the treatment.

How does Kybella work?

The bile being produced in the gall bladder contains Deoxycholic acid that assists the body in absorbing fat. Kybella is the synthetic form of this naturally occurring acid, and it destroys the fat cells beneath the injection site. When the fat cells are destroyed, they are unable to store fat, thus the skin starts getting thinner.

Once the skin is effectively numb, injections are administered. It takes a few days to some weeks for the acid to metabolize the cells inside the skin, and show the desired results.

The benefit around this treatment is that it completely metabolizes the fat cells in the sub-mental region, and no fat storage can occur again in the absence of fat cells after all the sessions completed. The best results are observed after 3-4 weeks of the first injection.

In most cases 2-3 sessions are sufficient and the maximum of 6 sessions are suggested if the sub-mental fat is more and the desired results are being achieved.
