As the holidays come to a head, Its starting to get to that point of the year where I don't even want to be online. a lot of people seem to lack any historical knowledge, and everything is an argument with those people. "Christmas is Christian!!!!" "Canadians are just wannabes. they're not allowed to have Thanksgiving. that's OURS." (that's an actual comment I came across this morning and its only 8am....) "Halloween is Satanic!" and don't even get me started on the ignorant fucks who celebrate Columbus day today for Christopher Columbus, and his atrocities.

I'd say pick up a History book, but none of the history books I've read in school, informed me, personally, of how "Christian" holidays were originally Pagan. Or how Christopher Columbus raped, killed, and tortured the Indigenous people and took their land. Google is literally at your fingertips. Use it. Learn what you're REALLY celebrating.

Just had someone on Facebook tell me my herbs shouldn't be on my altar, and that they should be in a cupboard.

Interesting take. I agree. However. I live in a trailer where there is limited space outside of mundane herbs and cookware. I do with what I can. And I'm proud of my altar and all that it is. So yeah. And since when are there rules???? What's with all the rules all the sudden??? No one has the same practice or path as another. So why are people spewing onto me what I should or shouldn't do? I'm so tired of Facebook "witches".

I felt prompted to share this information with you all.

As of late, I have been seeing posts in various facebook groups, where members are stating that they have been disposing of spell jars in ways that are harmful to mother earth. There was a singular post in itself that made me want to scream.

The spell jar in question, was dropped into a storm drain and forgotten about. I-

With common curtesy and common knowledge in mind, storm drain water, eventually ends up running into streams and lakes, rivers and the like. The rivers and streams will NOT wash it away. They WILL not "cleanse" it. Those spell jars will be washed downstream and become litter for others. Those spell jars buried with salt, will damage plant life around them if they break. And possibly even animal life! (and given that it was dropped into a storm drain, I can only assume that this jar absolutely shattered at some point by now..) Those candle stubs, or wax seals, are usually paraffin wax, a petroleum product, and won't break down. That salt water used for cleansing and tossed into the yard will kill plants and damage the soil.

If you want to dispose of a used spell jar and don't want to break it down on your property or try to cleanse the ingredients, find a garbage can or dumpster near a crossroads and throw it in there. This also applies to those who happen to stumble upon a spell jar. DO NOT OPEN IT. Do not mess with it. PLEASE dispose of it properly.

Disposing into running water sounds all magical and like a good idea until you realize that you are actually polluting that body of water, and the life forms surrounding it.

PLEASE take into consideration the importance of the environmental impact of these actions.
