Nights Spent Together
Pairing: Gustave “Doc” Kateb x Female Reader
Genre: Fluff (~600 words)
Plot: Reader goes to sleep with Doc after a nightmare, a constant reoccurrence.

She had to see his soft, caring brown eyes stare in hers, feel his warm, smooth skin on hers. He was the calm to her storm. He was her anchor, the one who kept her at peace when she felt nothing matter, when she felt like only a piece of dust to be wiped off the dirty counter top. He was her peace, and she needed his calming attitude at the moment before she tore at her scalp until blood clotted under her nails.
Her fists knocked rapidly on the door, a little more persistent than she had intended. He'd for sure be awake after a few knocks, which was confirmed by the sound of stumbling before the door was opened.
He stood in his pajamas, his greying hair a mess—it was sticking up in every way. His eyelids were struggling to stay open, but when he saw her at his door, they quickly opened wide. His mouth slightly parted, about to speak, when he saw the tears that dribbled down her cheeks.
"Can I stay with you tonight?" She asked, her voice cracking, quiet and desperate. On the battlefield, she was a powerful troop, but now she looked like a girl trapped in her own mind—it was heartbreaking for him to see.
It's not the first time she's come to him, wanting to stay for the night, but the first time she's seemed so distressed. He took her shaking hand, holding it tightly in his own, pulling her to his bed where his blanket lay haphazardly scrunched at the end of his bed.
Taking her place on the side that was flushed against the wall, she faced him as he crawled into bed with her and pulled the blanket up to roll atop their bodies. He brought her into his arms, pulling her into his chest and looping his legs with hers. To him, she felt like she was freezing, but to her, she felt like she was burning.
He ran a hand through her tousled hair, helping untangle it from when she slept restlessly. Her head laid on his toned chest, listening to the calm beating of his heart. It vibrated as he spoke, his voice entrancing her into a state of peace. "What was it about, mon amie?" He knew it was a nightmare, it's the only reason she'd knock on his door at midnight.
She sucked in her breath, holding it before he pat her on the back in a reminder to breath. "I don't remember." She took long stares towards the wall, afraid to blink and see darkness. "All I can clearly remember was red and the screaming... it was horrifying and I don't even know what it was." She whispered just loudly enough for him to hear.
"Will you be able to sleep, or do you just want to lay here?" He questioned. She shivered at the thought of going back to whatever it was that made her feel so terrified.
"I don't want to sleep." She sounded so timid it almost scared him. "You should sleep, though. You've got things to do tomorrow." She was considerate.
He twirled strands of her hair around his index finger, letting out a small laugh. "I won't sleep until you do." He smiled while she scoffed at the stubborn doctor. He did this every time she stayed in his room, and he never lied.
They talked for what seemed like hours, but was only half-an-hour, before her eyes dropped and she snores softly in his arms. He relaxed his arms across her back and smiled softly. He whispered goodnight to her and followed her into dreamland.
