I love making a gag character for D&D, forgetting they’re just a gag character, and then take a step back to look at the original ref

#today we went to the river#it was a rocky relatively shallow area but the water was moving fast and cold#while we were there we saw a doe step out to cross it#followed by the youngest fawn ive ever seen#it was so charming#but the water was moving too fast for him#and we were standing there watching him be swept away waiting for his mother to do something#he floated right in front of us bleating and we were just paralyzed#not wanting to touch the baby in case it changed its smell#waiting for the doe to run over and save him#and then he passed us altogether and his mother was still just standing there#he was able to just barely swim to the opposite bank about 10 yards from his mother#we couldn't tell at first if hed actually made it to shore#he was so small and his head was just above water#and the far bank had waist high grass#the doe went looking for him#and later we saw her emerge from the grass where hed been and cross the stream again without him#the way i felt sick to my stomach#my bf was able to wade over and finally found the baby in the grass tired but alive thank god#so the only thing to do was to hope that the mother was hiding him there and planning to come back#but that's how so much of the world feels right now#just this awful desperation as you watch something so small and fragile whisk right past you#feeling paralyzed and helpless and not knowing what to do#until the moment is gone and you dont know if something horrible has just happened and if you could have done anything at all to help#I'm so relieved the fawn made it to shore#but watching him struggle across the river not knowing if he made it#ugh#just need to hang on through this

It seems like the older I get, the more irrationally angry casual censorship makes me. And it isn't just the "unalive" "grape" alleged filter-dodging vernacular, but the way normal words will be peppered with asterisks, or screenshots will have words like "gay" "hell" "fuck" etc either partially or entirely blurred. Who is this helping? What is the purpose of it, except to reinforce shame and elevate a flimsy perception of purity and safety, however those things manifest. It's so tiresome and I'm sick of it.

The criteria for “addiction” being “dopamine” is so incredibly stupid it had to have been invented by the people that try to say porn addiction is real thing

the inflection is exactly the same. I have been thinking about this for an hour. was this on purpose or is this just how people are naturally compelled to say these words in this order (via @biderverse on X/Twitter)
