If you have a poem theme, or characters, that you'd like me to write of, just ask! Greek Mythology is what I mainly know about, but I like learning mythology in general, so feel free to throw ideas at me, haha. Also, some of my poems have the fortune of being love poems.

support the arts. go see a friend’s theatre production, buy a piece of artwork you love if you can afford it, tip a street musician who made you stop walking to admire their skills. the arts are so beautiful and under appreciated. please commemorate people for the hard work they show through artwork. as an artist, it’s so easy to become discouraged, so if you have an opportunity to support an artist, do your best to take it.

Do you think Apollo held him often? that, perhaps, this was why he flew too close to the sun to feel his touch again

the stars will burn themselves out one day, hulking red giants and quiet white dwarfs, softly spinning into the dusk. the night is dark but we name the stars after our heroes. you bite down on orion, you clasp tight to heracles, there is a spiral arm galaxy in your left lung and her name will be andromeda.

ICARUS SAYS: i will fly ICARUS MEANS: sometimes the world is too small ICARUS MEANS: it burns but i feel alive ICARUS JUMPS. a fledgeling leaving the nest is less fragile because he is flying on nothing but wax and hope but that does not matter because his heart is bigger than a bird’s and he is flying ICARUS FLIES. his dreams are made of nectar but his joy is sweeter than a summer evening and he laughs crepuscular rays and his hair is bright and bronzed ICARUS THINKS: i can fly ICARUS THINKS: damn ICARUS MUST: remember to breathe ICARUS SAYS: i could touch the clouds ICARUS MEANS: i have fallen in love with the sky and it tastes like freedom ICARUS FORGETS: a mortal cannot keep up with the sun, no matter how golden his wings

“TELL US WHAT IT’S LIKE TO LOVE A GOD.” Pallas: it is as exhilarating as battle. but instead of swords clashing, it’s tongues and bodies. it is gaining ground and losing it. it is victory and surrender. it’s like being stunned by lightning and a sword rip through your heart. but by then, you already taste the iron in your mouth. Icarus: it is freeing. you feel as though the world falls away from your feet and your head is in the clouds. you just think ‘I need more’ because it feels like the sun itself is caressing you. but by then, the warmth is starting to burn and then the bitterness in your throat isn’t just regret. Orion: it is wild. you track and pursue and the chase takes your breath away. your heart is racing in your chest and you need to know the precise moment to strike. but by then, the sting you feel is not Eros’ arrow and the blood coursing through your veins is poison. Hyacinthus: it is a game. remember that it’s all about the timing. it is giving and receiving at exactly the right moment. it is looking the possibility divine bliss and divine wrath right in the face. but by then, you’re forced to blink and it’s not their beauty that stuns you.

What is immortality?
Hera lays her head in the stars. Her fingers dance across the earth, as it spins on and on. Her eyes watch, face after face, as the wounds that once stung from betrayal, dull to a slight pang. Time. Immortality is time.
Hercules drifts between wedges of stone, hands lazily resting atop an engraving long since committed to memory. His ears are fooled by the echoes of laughter from another life. The fate of heroes is the dead they bury. Loss. Immortality is loss.
Persephone wanders in the fields, feet knee deep in the ground; senses ablaze from all the life that hums around her. A wicked grin is quick to dance across her face. A girl Goddess of Life to a Queen over the Dead. Change. Immortality is change.
Athena walks amongst a garden of statues. She remembers hair that was long brown tresses before it was scales. A gift and the power to give them, but no control in how it is used. Was it protection or something else? Punishment. Immortality is punishment.
Prometheus lifts heavy eyes to the heavens where the galaxies wrote fates he thought he could read. A blessing turned into a plague that ravaged mortality, twisting it into something devoid of the purity he once admired. Regret. Immortality is regret.
Ares sorts through rubble. Broken homes. Broken nations. Broken bones. Wars being fought from behind a desk instead of on the ground. Yet history is still being written in crimson, whether by a sword or a keyboard. Blood. Immortality is blood.
Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon sit and watch the end of the world, destruction the song they’ve hummed since birth. There will be era after era, for each end they will see a beginning. There is no Death that can threaten them. Eternity. Immortality is eternity.

the world will end in stardust. it’s the only way for us to go – a civilization built on constellations, our hands always reaching, grasping for the next star, the brightest star. look at the greeks, their stories etched in pinpricks of gold. look at us now, our pictures of galaxies a million miles away. we are children of lost gods. nothing kills them quite as well as being forgotten. and so the world will end with bleeding gods. ichor flows as gold as stars.

immortal loving a mortal; you need to stop, you need to stop, you need to– keep kissing him, let your fingers trace down his jawline and to his chest. put your hand on his heart. know that one day it will stop beating. and when it does, know that yours will too.

I don’t know what he did to me.
I know I heard yelling and lots of thuds.
I know I saw ‘sugar’, white powder and I know he didn’t know how the fuck to get dressed.
I know I closed the door in his face, and that motorcycles and snoring and telephones ringing scare the heck out of me.
Sounds, not sights. It’s the sounds.
I know I’m attracted to the smells of alcohol like a moth is to becoming a burned witch.
It’s just something familiar, like pain or loneliness or razor bites.
I know I kissed you, But it wasn’t real. I swear it wasn’t real, not anymore, it can’t be anymore.
I know you left me alone in a freaken camper, and I jumped on your back.
I know you left me alone with a monster I’ve written as a torturer.
I know you left me with horrible monsters, because I remember a room and you weren’t in it.
I remember sleeping and then going to sleep, and you were in the room but your brain wasn’t. It was counting money and other things, like drugs. Not time, because I was waiting and I went to sleep but it wasn’t really sleep.
I took medicine to stop heavy bleeding, and when I collapsed on my back on the ground and was gripping my head, that that wasn’t the first time that had happened.
Meaning I Was probably drugged, legs collapsing, losing feeling an a heavy or light head, Like arms after carrying heavy things and finally setting them down.
The rush of blood returning.
I cried a lot. It was uncontrollable.
I thought hormones.
I think it was memories.
He was irresponsible, driving back to my house after a concert, so drunk he thought me crying was sweat.
I can’t stand it. He doesn’t deserve the term “dad”
or ‘father’.
He was a phantom, something that hurt and that let me be hurt.
Something that did not protect, or save, or love. Something that LIED.
*Title: He lied and he paid for it, the dead don’t deserve love if they didn’t give it during their life. by: Persenix Albia April 18th, 2015 Morning.

Everyone cares that she won’t be in school that week. I said something too.
Nobody cares that I won’t be in school that week.
(I said something too)
*April 16th, 2015*
I feel like I’m standing over here screaming “What day is it?” and everyone’s just talking about the seasons.
*by: Persenix Albia*
*time: Way too late in the day* And the shadow says to sleep.
She keeps snoring so I keep having nightmares.
{What a pain.
Life or having to sleep?
Both.}
That’s sad.
Time is free Until death exists Or medicine Or sickness Or hurt
{I wait until I can’t take it anymore then I scream at her to stop.
The snoring gives me nightmares.}
Are they mashups or memories?
Something new from something old Something blond from something told Something blue and something gold Something dead and something (c)old Someone cold
She’s alive
