A safe space for gamers of all types. I mostly post work in progress pictures of my Tau, Space Wolves (30k & 40k) and AoS projects.I have a sideblog 40kshowerthoughts for literally the 40k thoughts I have while showering.
And this ☝️ is why I’m a deviant that paints on sprue.
This week I decided to build some models, and I ended up building quite a lot!
First, I assembled two units of 10 Chainrasp Hordes for my Nighthaunt Procession. For the leaders of each unit, I did some minor conversion work on the weapons just to give a bit of variety across the units. As they were the easy-to-build kits, I managed to get both units built pretty quickly.
Next, I assembled Lady Olynder. The kit was a bit fiddly to build, particularly the vines which wrap round her body. She is also extremely fragile, I’ll need to be careful when painting not to break any bits off.
I then built a unit of five Grimghast Reapers. This was the second unit of five in my collection, so I could also field them as a single unit of ten.
A unit of ten (or two units of five) Bladegheist Revenants was next, they are really cool models with their longswords.
After all of the troops and elite units, I needed a change of pace so I started on the mighty Mortis Engine. This kit was a beast to build, it took me all day yesterday. Most of that time was spent cleaning mould lines off, as they were quite prominent. I think my particular kit was a bit older too, as it was made from the harder, more brittle grey plastic that GW dabbled with a few years ago, before switching back to the softer stuff. I’ve kept it in multiple sub assemblies to let me paint it easier.
Finally, I built the Scriptor Mortis, which was an absolute joy to assemble. It’s clear this is a more modern Nighthaunt kit, as the pieces fit together so precisely with zero join lines, and there were practically no mould lines to clean off.
All that building means I assembled thirty eight models (including the massive Mortis Engine) over the last few days, a decent return in my opinion!
It also means I’ve built the entirety of my remaining Nighthaunt collection.
Next up I’m going to start basing them all today, and then it will be time for priming.
Posed in close combat with a rival dreadnought or the like, he'll look like he's throwing a punch and stomping over rubble to get close enough to throw said punch.
Posed alone, he looks downright jolly. "Oh, boy, here I go killing again!"
Now to return him to sub-assemblies and work on adding pteruges and tassets.
Karlina will be the Vampire Lord needed for the Cursed City expansion :)
Picked up the Warhammer + subscriber miniatures at the weekend from GW Glasgow. Both are awesome miniatures and I have plans to add them to armies in the future.
All the terrain bits for the board are done. Now just to add some extra touches to the board itself and decide if I want to/can make a background image for it.
Also that plays right into his demeanour. Most will see him as a savage berserker but really he’s way more tacticool than that. There’s the face he wants the universe to see and there’s his true face.
Also… him and that damn spear 🤣🤣
First morning of the holiday in Greece. Reading Wolfsbane (book 49 of the Horus Heresy series) on the balcony and I come across this.
POST-IT NOTES?!
Leman Russ, Primarch of the VI Legiones Astartes, the Space Wolves, the Lord of Winter and War, Commander of the Villa Fenryka…. USES POST-IT NOTES! 😂😂
This is my new favourite moment of the Horus Heresy.
Russ’ reputation as chief Badass of the loyalists is under threat here @petepaintswarhammer 😂. I would expect this from Gulliman or perhaps Vulkan, but Russ?!
Basing is my least favourite part of the hobby because I just can’t get it to look the way I want it to in my mind.
These are incredible. Something very haunting, sleepy hollow, Tim Burton esque about these.
Love them!
Spent the afternoon making bases for Black Knights/Hexwraiths in my Nighthaunt army. I’m not sure what happened to the cobblestones but they didn’t turn out as I was planning. They still look ok though, and loosely match the bases in the rest of the army.
I’ll be looking to get the unit painted soon, but for now it’s back to more Genestealer Cult characters.
Happy Hobbying!
Dave
