PSA--Hiatus Notice
Tumblr media
Well guys I’m gonna call it early on to prevent stressors from developing. From now until mid-to-late-December I’m putting the majority of my blogs on a hiatus. They’ve all sorta been “on-call” lately with hiddcnwishes as a focus, but now as I delve into graduate studies and balancing the books with my job, I’ll have no time nor attention to give to any of my other muses.
Presently, hiddcnwishes is participating in an event that requires any attention I may have to give to rp, so that’s where I’ll be most active. When the event ends, activity will be scarce but not abandoned (because I need something to de-stress me and roleplaying is one of those fixes).
     So to clarify,
ALL BLOGS–EXCEPT HIDDCNWISHES–ARE ON A TEMPORARY HIATUS. DO NOT ASK ME TO REPLY TO THREADS OR GIVE THEM ATTENTION WHILE THE HIATUS IS UP.
This is for my own sanity during the semester and I need to focus on my education and occupation above anything here. I hope you all can understand.

An Analysis / Introduction to “Mr.” Prince and “Young” Prince (NOT Spoiler free)
I have full intention to bring Mr. Prince to this blog, as well as actually bring my version of an older Prince (2.0 I should say) but I want to do a brief analysis on the two characters before I go any further.
First off, let’s introduce these characters for a sec. Those of us who’ve seen the 2015 film know who Mr. Prince is. He’s a “grown up” version of our usually childlike protagonist who just doesn’t quite know how to be the kind of grown-up he’s expected to be. As hard as he tries, the adult world just feels like a suit way too big on him, and that’s not to say he shouldn’t wear a suit but whoever’s tailoring his outfit has expectations for him that he simply cannot fit comfortably in.
Young Prince is a character I’ve loosely based off of the character in the unofficial sequel of Antoine’s novel, “The Return of the Young Prince”. He’s grown too big for his planet, but the one thing that really kicks him out is the harsh shove of a grown up reality that his little world of childhood is nothing but lies and silly fantasies. He starts as a quietly cynical character, but after some run-ins and development, he grows kinder and well-adjusted to this new life as an adult.
Now these two characters may seem like totally different people, they are in fact the same person, at least on this blog. Little Prince is still a child, meaning he could become anything he wished within the time he has before he grows up. Mr. Prince is a sort of accelerated approach. He’s the grown up Prince becomes should a machine force him to become someone he’s not ready to be yet. He isn’t given the proper development a youth should go through in their full lifespan, but instead gets thrown into adulthood with the expectations to be someone he doesn’t know how to be while also forgetting the person he once was.
As I’m still trying to fix up Young Prince to my liking, I’d say he will be the grown up Prince is meant to be with the full development and experience one should go through! He may not be as naive as he used to be, but he’s certainly not going to be as cynical and hateful as he was in 1.0. He’s a skilled swordsman who still dresses in his princely attire like a LARPer (shakefist at A. G. Roemmers), and he does secretly face regrets back to his old planet. Unlike Mr. Prince, he doesn’t take the wilting of his flower very well, and he often forgets that she’s with him forever. He has his insecurities and faults, but it’s not like Mr. Prince who hasn’t had time to adjust to the adult world properly.
In time I’ll come to the conclusion of what Young Prince will be, but I will offer them both on here as different routes to whom the Little Prince could become should “so and so” happen.

KUBO ARCHES HIS BROWS, and fights off the urge to stick out his tongue back at PRINCE in retort. If it weren’t for the fact that this was a trusted friend, he might not have thought twice about charging into practice with an actual sword. He knows by now that the sword UNBREAKABLE was really not a plaything – that doesn’t mean he can’t get careless or reckless with it, still.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, he does almost freeze when the Prince lunges for him – any less experience, and he just would have – but with a prompt yelp, Kubo involuntarily swung the sword and held it with the blade turned sideways, to parry the other sword. Unfortunately he swings it a little too high up – and Prince does not miss his ( tiny ) mark.
Kubo ends up gawking at the blade that narrowly scratched the fabric of the robe. There are no tears, but he felt the blade catch, if only for a moment. There’s a pause from the boy. Then, a small bit of snark. “ A little more control and you wouldn’t have scratched it … ”
Kubo’s sloppy swing wasn’t exactly off. Though it missed Prince’s sword, he just barely scratched off bits of hair from the top of his head. A mistake it was, but effective for the untrained.
A smile graces his lips, now that Kubo was understanding just what kind of training this was, he shouldn’t hold back anymore punches. Prince stands at the ready again, standing back just a few paces.
Tumblr media
“Now let’s see if you can scratch me,” again, he positions himself properly.

“ RIGHT, RIGHT, OKAY. ” Beneath his breath, Kubo rasps and nods his head quickly, absorbing each of Prince’s words while also trying to process them into his stance and gait. For a brief moment, the boy felt a shred of doubt – they really were in a life or death situation here, and he can’t help but ponder, what would happen if they FAILED? The kitsune wanted them both, but if it succeeded in slaughtering them, would it continue its reign of terror on his village? Who else in the world would it proceed to unleash its wrath upon? Or will it return to the place it dwelt, to roll in the dirt for another few centuries until someone else threatened its mortality?
KUBO HESITATES. Not out of this doubt but out of discomfort as Prince instructs him. Don’t be afraid to strike. “ PRINCE … This is the sword UNBREAKABLE. ” Says the boy who literally a few weeks ago, was waving it and throwing it around like a child’s plaything. He points the blade toward the earth, where it would be safest. “ It’s like, the sharpest thing in the world. Won’t I hurt you if you get hit? ”
“Yes, and my sword was forged by the stars themselves. We are using real swords, Kubo.” Must he spell it out for him?
Tumblr media
“If I didn’t know that, do you think I would make you use it for practice?” All sass aside, he assumes his previous position with the point of his sword aimed for his opponent.
“This does bring up another point in the beginning of battle, an important moment, who will be first to land a strike? You only have so long to think here and your best opportunity may vanish in a movement. If you’re not paying attention, your opponent may outwit you--” with that said, he jumped to make the first move, his sword was ready to swing at the boy’s torso but he would only aim to just barely scratch the robe if Kubo happens to freeze like a scared fawn.

Spike has to blink, still perplexed over the claim before he remembers that this is literally a child. With a wild imagination. He has to laugh a little, and props his hands on his hips.

“Makes sense… I guess. Never actually heard of anyone hitching a ride with geese. Usually they’re getting chased down.” He begins to crouch to their level.
HHHHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSTH!
Tumblr media
Suddenly the goose’s head lowered, its beak opened wide, flashing its razor-edged tongue, its eyes were glassy and emotionless, it was bloodthirsty and ready.
Tumblr media
“There now! You needn’t frighten our guest here, he’s doing nothing wrong,” Prince pets the goose’s back, soothing its feathers. As if understanding the boy’s words, it eases from its hissing, but the head was still bowed and watching.

“ WHAT EXACTLY IS MAKING YOU SAY THIS all of the sudden? ” Kubo retorts with faint snark present in his voice. Yes, he knows that there are mortal people out there who were physically, but not spiritually blind. They were still good people with good hearts, but having managed to AVOID having his eye taken, Kubo does not know if the outcome would have been the same for him. He is, after all, only half mortal. If Raiden believed there was an opportunity to ‘ save ’ his grandson from the ‘ scourge ’ of humanity, then having divine blood must have had something to do with that.
THE BLIND CAN SEE MORE THAN THEY CAN. That was meant to be a kind and respectful nod to those who dealt with the dilemma, and deep down, Kubo knows it – but he also can’t help but be reminded of his very first conversation with his grandfather, deep within sleep.
‘ But how did you … ? You’re – ’     ‘ Even blinder than you? ’     ‘ Twice as much, to be precise. ’     ‘ WHICH MEANS I SEE DOUBLE THE TRUTH. ’
He cuts his gaze away, the corners of his mouth twisting downward in distress.
Tumblr media
“One can’t help asking questions...,” it was an answer he shouldn’t have given. He could have said worse, but those words alone indicated that his mind was wandering where it shouldn’t: in the matter of another’s privacy and insecurities, these were not toys to be played with.
But he remembers himself as he turns to see the hint of discomfort his friend was hiding away. Blinking, he briefly thinks over what it was he said that provoked such a look when words were only words and all they spoke about were hypothetical. However, he realizes quickly that even hypothetically this was one of those subjects one mustn’t just set on the table, or even touch for that matter.
“No--I meant--I’m sorry, that wasn’t nice of me was it?”

Now to him he was strongly convinced that any second this kid was gonna get the sharp end of the stick. Or teeth. Yeah, pretty sure it was geese that had teeth. Seeing the kid lasso this poultry as easily as he did was enough to befuddle him and speak up; the response actually gave him more questions than answers.
“To hold the string…” he repeats, scratching the mop on his head. “And why does it need the string?”
No the goose wasn’t making way to attack the small child handling it and tying rope around its body, but it sure as heck wasn’t giving that strange man standing a suspicious few yards away the most welcoming stare.
Tumblr media
“How else are they going to carry me? I’m too heavy for one of them.” He spoke as if this were the most obvious case.
