Actually question for people who make posts discussing specific racialized experiences, how do you generally feel when someone reblogs it and discusses their similar experiences as someone who is also a person of colour, but not the race you were talking about? We personally like it when non-Indigenous people of colour add on to and talk about their own experiences when we make posts about Indigeneity as we see it as being a way to express solidarity and to have larger conversations about racism, but we also don't get social rules and conventions much so we're a bit worried that we've been acting under the assumption that most people feel the same but in reality they don't

like i cannot stress enough if ur white u have been raised and taught to view urself as the center of the world, almost all media caters to you, ur cultures viewpoints dictate the world, ur ancestors are the “victors” of colonialism and shaped the planet to fit white supremacy, that little voice in ur head that tells you to comment on every post about racism u see with stuff like “LISTEN to this white people” “im white, but this is important” “im as white as snow but i also agree with this” is not the compassionate gesture u think it is

that little voice is ur taught racist desire to center urself and ur opinion as more important and factual, something to be listened to above all else, because you were raised to believe you and everyone like you has the final say, you get uncomfortable when brown people voice frustrations because you don’t like reckoning with how the entire world is shaped in your image, you need to ignore that little voice that tells you your input is needed, because that little voice means absolutely nothing to the lived experiences of people of color, we donot need your approval or for you to agree for the racist history that has oppressed all of us to be true, we donot need YOU to tell us we are right when it has already been proven through history, through statistics, on the millions of lives lost to genocide and war in the name of white supremacy, you are not the center of the world, you are just taught that you are

Rest in power, Anna Mae Robertson . . . 

One of the last surviving members of the legendary Six Triple Eight battalion has passed away at 101. (June 1, 2025)

At just 19, Robertson joined the all-Black women’s unit during WWII, defying racism and sexism to complete a mission no one else could: sorting 17 million pieces of mail in three months to reconnect U.S. troops with their loved ones.⁠ ⁠ She lived to see her unit awarded the Congressional Gold Medal this year, and she leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and sisterhood that helped shape the story of Black women in America.⁠ ⁠May her memory be a blessing, and may her name never be forgotten.

As a black aromantic, amatonormativity looks different to me in compared to white aromantics.

When looking back into history of amatonormative as well as how my black family perpatuates it, it really all boils down to the same old story: white people forces thing onto black folks so black folks adopt it to survive cause they didn’t have a choice but to.

This is especially why I roll my eyes when they mention alloromantics to be the bane of their existence because to me that includes black alloromantics. Majority of the conservatism the black community holds is because they had no choice but to. And the reason they had no choice but to is because of white people, which is also what they are. I think when white people are also oppressed, because they’re taught to consistently center themselves in every conversation, they use their personal experiences to paint it as the universal community experience. There’s a lack of self awareness and intersectionality that really can only be solved through more black aro voices empowering themselves in this community.

Some time ago (I think in 2021) I had to go see a neurologist over really scary symptoms that resembled seizures. I was a nervous wreck about what I was feeling and had barely slept all week, which seemed to be apparent to the doc’s assistant when I sat down in the exam room for questioning or whatever. Dude was pretty young and soft spoken, around my age. He was laser focused doing something on one of those tablet-laptop Surface things as I spoke, presumably writing down my symptoms.

Midway through talking about my symptoms my voice audibly started shaking as I was describing them, clearly upset.

In the middle of my monologue he turns the tablet to face me, closes whatever program he has open and the wallpaper is this fucking collage of pictures of lord farquaad from shrek, lovingly decorated. Dude just sat there placidly smiling at me until I noticed and stopped dead in the middle of a sentence. We sat there in silence like this for like a solid minute before I started wheezing laughing. Before I could even say anything else or process it he picked up the tablet and wordlessly left the room, and I just sat there dumbfounded until the doctor showed up. 10/10 doctor experience tbh

I am! Leaving! Texas!!

I'm currently living in Texas, but not for much longer!! We're going to be leaving the 14th-15th of next month! While you can imagine, it's absolutely wonderful for a t4t couple like my gf and I to be leaving Texas, I was not made aware that we had to move out like, in less than a month! Did not know that!
