Do cats have to be tagged in the UK?

In the UK, there is no requirement as of now by law for cats to have a tag when they go outside, as compared to dogs. From 10 June 2024, however, it became a law that every cat over 20 weeks old in England must be microchipped and have their information updated in an approved database.
