The Garde Écossaise... elite bodyguards to the kings of France for several centuries. Originally consisting purely of Scottish soldiers, the Garde Écossaise had the prestigious honour of being the personal bodyguard to the various French kings that came and went from 1418 to 1830. Personally though, I like to headcanon APH Scotland being APH France's personal bodyguard during the years of 1418 to 1560 (with 1560 being the year the Franco-Scottish Auld Alliance (un)officially came to an end). Prior to 1418, I like to headcanon APH Scotland learned a lot from APH France (realistically, the Scots did get a crap ton of French influence during the Auld Alliance that lasted from 1295 to 1560, which includes linguistic influences, law/legal influences along with culinary influences to name a few!). Since France did so much for him, helping him when England invaded and all that, Scotland decided to repay the favour by becoming France's personal bodyguard.. and thanks to there alliance, I like to think Scotland knows France pretty well... so well, he's used to France's flirtatious ways and is mostly immune to it. Oh, and he also knows exactly how to handle a drunken France too.... not so sure France can handle a drunken Scotland though lol. Ugh I should have changed that background color... but oh well, too lazy to do it now XD I’m in a drawing mood~ this is meant to be Tercio Irlanda i.e. Ireland back in the 1600s serving under the Spanish Empire. Totally headcanoning Mayugeland Brother no 2 as Ireland, and also that Spain gave him his first smoking pipe and got him hooked on smoking 8D

There~ I coloured in the sketch I’d been doodling yesterday.

I’ve seriously missed drawing during the last few months when I was stuck writing reports/essays and having to study for my final exam at university. So glad I don’t have anything uni-related until mid-September now :3

Very, very, very rough sketching stage of a little Hetalia Norway/Scotland fan art I’m working on right now~

I totally ship Norway and Scotland; they have some history together and are collectively known by some historians as “The Northern Commonwealth” due to them both having access to a crap ton of North Sea Oil, excellent North Sea fishing spots and being similar in geography too. Scotland even has fake fjords! Which he calls firths! In which it was actually Norway - back in the Viking days - who named Scotland’s fake fjords “fjords” because he didn’t know what else to call them, and thus the word “fjord” eventually became “firth” in Scottish XD And don’t get me started on the WWII connection these two have *coughs*Shetland Bus*coughs*..... *coughs some more*Norwegians stationed in Scotland where they lived and trained to help fight back against the Nazis*coughs*. Oh.. and of course, there’s also Sir Nils Olav; Norway and Scotland’s pet penguin that lives in Edinburgh Zoo.... I just love this pairing so much... X3

P.s. I have a running headcanon joke of sorts with my lovely friend sadonishi where Scotland always misses out on seeing Norway’s smile. It’s not even like it’s deliberate, but I swear Norway has that bland look on his face most of the time, so when he does smile, it’s a huge thing for Scotland... too bad he’s usually looking away or he’s doing what he’s doing in this sketch... leaning in to steal a smooch with his eyes closed ~_~

I still think the blond brother from Himaruya’s Mayugeland/British Bros sketch is Wales… so I’ve been headcanon’ing him as Wales all this time.

I like to think Wales loves Corgis (because Corgis are from his place and who the hell doesn’t love Corgis?!), but more than that, I also like to think England has a huge soft spot for Corgis too, so yeah…. my headcanon is, Wales has a pack of 5 Corgis at his place which England loves to bits and plays with every chance he can. He dresses them up in little costumes too (bow ties, little cuffs for their paws, so they look like gentlemen dogs), and Wales just let’s him do it because they both agree, Corgis are adorable XD

Aiming to try and do a sketch a day, or a sketch every two days... just because I really want to fill out an entire sketch book with sketches.... 

And just in case it’s not obvious - which I’m sure it’s not! - that’s Hetalia Mayugeland Brother #2! Or Ireland as I call him lol. Him in his Tercio Irlanda/mercenary!Ireland days serving Spain~ Disclaimer thingie: Hetalia and Mayugeland Brother #2 belongs to Himaruya-sensei. I own nothing, I just like to pretend I can draw his characters :3

I draw Mayugeland Brothers XD I still think the redhead is Scotland, the blond is Wales and the tsundere is Ireland~ Disclaimer: Hetalia and Mayugeland Brothers belong to Himaruya-sensei~! Well, I... uh... have fallen back into the old Norway/Scotland ship again, and simply had to draw a pic of them together... or rather, draw Norway with Mayugeland Brother #1 (who I consider Scotland anyway since he looks closest to Himaruya's original chibi of Scotland). I love the Norway/Scotland pairing... they share a lot of history starting all the way back in the Viking age and onwards. In fact, the Orkney and Shetland Islands of Scotland belonged to Norway for ages, until they were given to Scotland in 1469 by the King of Denmark-Norway as dowry for his daughter who was to marry King James III of Scotland. And let's not forget about their more recent ties too - the Shetland Bus from WWII, Norwegian troops staying and training in Scotland during WWII, both North Sea oil nations, a ton of innovative/technological projects together, and so on~ Oh! And Nil Olav of course! Their pet penguin, Sir Nils Olav a.k.a. Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian Kings Guards who stays over in Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland ^^ So yeah, I like to think they get along pretty well. Heck, I like to think Scotland gets along with all the Nordics pretty well lol. And while he might be a hardy highland nation, he still cannot handle the cold as well as Norway can XD Disclaimer thingie: Hetalia, APH Norway and APH Mayugeland Brother #1 belongs to Himaruya-sensei~! I own nothing, I just like to draw 8D!! (I am so not used to using a lighter color for Scotland's hair... but ah well.... Hmm... I tried to come up with a Hetalia Fantasia design for Mayugeland Brother #1 (or Scotland as I refer to him as!)... La Petite Garde

My nyotalia!Scotland OC; Mairi Stewart dressed in an incredibly altered/made up female version of the Garde Écossaise uniform.

The Garde Écossaise were an elite Scottish military unit founded in 1418 by the Valois Charles II of France. They acted as personal bodyguards to the French royalty and was not officially disbanded until 1830. My headcanon has Scotland (both male and female versions) acting as France's bodyguard during the Auld Alliance period between 1295 and 1560, but yeaaah.. technically, the prestigious Garde Écossaise carried on with their duties even after the Auld Alliance came to an end :3 The motto used by the company's senior members was "Les fiers Écossaise" - "The Proud Scots". Disclaimer thingie: Hetalia belongs to Himaruya-sensei~ this nyotalia Scotland OC design, however, belongs to moi~!
