What’s going through Sansa’s mind in those final moments as Jon’s being declared King in the North?

Sophie: She’s not getting the credit she feels she deserves, that Littlefinger would grant her with. He obviously wants her on the Iron Throne and him by her side – she doesn’t want that, but she wants recognition for the effort that she put in, in order to claim back Winterfell, because if it wasn’t for her, it wouldn’t have happened. So I think she’s seeing Littlefinger as a bit more trustworthy and more of an ally than she initially thought. [x]

Not sure if you knew this, but...

It seems that people are under the impression that Petyr and Sansa shippers are painfully unaware of what kind of character Petyr is. We’ve watched the show, and we’ve read the books. When you write long and stubborn lists ranting about everything he has caused - we already know. Actually, I would go as far to say that we understand his character more than the rest of the GOT fandom. We know he is an absolute creep who is not to be trusted. We know he has caused A LOT of deaths, including many of Sansa’s family. We know that his love for Sansa is unhealthy. We are aware of all of this, and I still have always thought that Baelish does not deserve to be called evil or a psychopath, as I have read so many times by GOT fans and readers.

George R. Martin has said himself that no death can be blamed on one single character in his novels. The chain of events that led to Ned’s demise, for example, cannot only be blamed on Petyr. That would be preposterous, and yet the amount of times I have read that “Petyr was responsible for Ned’s death” is staggering. You’re telling me that Ned holds no responsibility for his own fate, even when Petyr straight out said to him “distrusting me was the wisest thing you’ve done since you stepped off your horse”? Petyr gave him a warning, and it wasn’t even subtle. Ned continued to trust him anyway. Sansa also caused her father a lot of damage in this situation as well. The Stark’s value honour to the point that they are naive, and Robb died because of this, just like his father did. Like Ned’s death, so many other people were to blame in Robb’s death. Petyr was not the sole perpetrator. You can dispute this all you like, but George, the inventor of this world, literally said it himself. This is why the plot is so compelling; all characters can be blamed for causing something.

Obviously, this does not take away from the fact that Petyr definitely played a role in Ned’s death, and he has committed some terrible actions after this (just take Ros, Lysa, Dontos for example). I am simply explaining that his character is not as black and white evil as he is often labelled as. As a boy, Petyr was nearly killed after he challenged Brandon Stark to a duel over Catelyn’s hand. He lost and was humiliated. Much of his actions are motivated by this rejection and his fear of humiliation. These are both very human feelings. With Cat, and now with Sansa, Petyr has shown that his greatest weakness is that he is NOT Littlefinger; deep down he does care, and he does have emotions, and this softer part of him always leaks through his hard exterior when he is with Sansa. He acts impulsively around her, and he has made mistakes in playing the game by revealing to her too much - out of affection. Altogether he is not as calculating or as evil as he is constantly defined as. He definitely is still creepy, though, and this is why we love him.

REALLY SORRY for the bloody long message but it annoys me when people are ignorant about fictional characters. If you don’t like them that’s absolutely cool, but don’t write them off as something they’re not just because you are too lazy to understand them.
