I just tried to remember exactly what year and when in that year I started watching Phil. I closed my eyes and saw flashes of Michael Aranda on YouTube, Preston walking out of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, the Midnight Beast parody of Kesha’s song, The Hoosiers (who remembers The Hoosiers???). Anyway, looked up all those videos on YT and they’re all towards the end of 2009. Anyone who lived through that great year in the UK below are the hits of nostalgias in links. Anyone who didn’t, feel free to feel the vibe of 2009. Emo black was being splattered with the neon colours of Scene. Camden, having been the centre of anyone cool in London’s world, was a shell after the fire of the year before. The Arctic Monkeys and Muse were played every second on the radio, and The Mighty Boosh were the biggest thing on the comedy circuit. Good. Fucking. Times.

Super proud of Dan. Having basically not been watching Phil or looking at this blog and having completely moved on, it was really special to see trending on Twitter his video. Last time I was in this fandom world, I was going through a strange time, didn’t know where my life was going, didn’t feel myself. And the other day I was on the train in a city I love, dressed in my cool media work clothes, on my way to the career I always wanted, messaging someone who is my first proper relationship, and saw on Twitter the news and I was so so proud of him. I watched the video and really felt the whole ‘it gets better - time passing really helps’. Because when I felt like my life wasn’t going the way I wanted it to go, his videos and this community because my life-line - it became the perfect distraction and coping mechanism, and he helped me get through it. He’s been gone for a year working on himself, and I unintentionally did the same. Time has passed and things have changed beyond what I ever imagined. 

Thanks to Dan and Phil for being that coping mechanism, and thanks to all of you for being a supportive and fun community. I’m in a better place now, and don’t recognise the person who had this blog. I’m not degrading it or the me from before - I’ve just grown apart from this, and I don’t need another online world to help me cope with the real one, because I’ve worked hard and got support and things have changed. 

I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m bragging, basically I just want to say thanks to you all and to dan and phil, and I want to reiterate his message that no one ever knows how much better things can get. 

So thank you, I wish you all the best, and goodbye

Phil forgetting how old Dan is is literally one of the funniest things ever, because the first time Phil asks “are you?” Dan just assumes he’s joking and keeps going on w/ his story until Phil says “you’re not 27” and his facial expression when he realizes that Phil is actually serious is GOLD
