How we make Lo-Fi Dreampunk using a Library of Congress C-1 Cassette Tape Player, Sony Minidisc Walkman MZ-R55, ZOOM MRT-3B.

In this episode, Phantom Legend agent Casionova Frankenstein demonstrates a Sony Minidisc MZ-R55 as a sampler. Samples were created by manipulating various cassette tapes while recording into the Sony MD Walkman. For this demo, recorded samples were looped on "Repeat Mode" or played at random on "Shuffle Mode".

Another interesting instrument featured in the making of this lofi soundtrack is a LOC C-1. Originally created as a teaching aid for the blind and physically handicapped, this retro cassette player has quickly become one of our favorite tools for warping cassette tapes into strange ambient dream-scapes.

Beats were played through a ZOOM Micro RhythmTrak MRT-3B using custom drum patterns. Nothing much else to say about that... we're still getting use to it. Everything was routed to a Behringer Xenyx Q80 USB Mixer with a DOD VOTEC FX processor on the mixers FX send.

This is a DAWless setup!

However, FL Studio 20 was used for recording and final mix of the audio.
