I loved working on this commission so much that I animated it! I haven't done any character animation in many years but it came back naturally, like riding a bike! The Charles Dance 1990 version is the very first Phantom I ever saw and it left a big impression on me, obviously! Are there any other phantom versions you'd like to see my Erik and Christine posed as?? I'm think I may do Phantom of the Paradise next!

Look at your face in the mirror . . . as Cherik would say: "I have never seen such perfection!" Lol my animation skills are rough but I still love it. I'm so close to being finished with page art for this epic graphic novel and I'm so excited for all the fun things I'll get to do when I have more time on my hands! More animation is high on the list!

This Santa Lucia inspired commission was conceived of by @bluemasque86 and I was so excited about the idea! I envisioned this scene as a dream that Erik has of Christine shortly after he first sees her... I think Christine is the PERFECT St Lucy!

I got a theory about Erik's deformity, I found out some days ago that some babies are born without skin, and when I looked them up they looked a little like how you draw Erik... was Erik born without skin? If so, that could add another layer as to why Erik's mother never touched him or kissed him... a mother of a skinless baby said that she always had to bandage her kid up to hold him because she'd injure him, maybe the doctors told Erik's mom that she should bandage him up but didn't elaborate why, and Erik's mom thought that it was because he was infectious or something instead of it being for his own good.

It's possible, but I don't think what caused his deformity (in the original novel) is the point. The point is how it affected his life and how it made others view him. And most importantly, how it made him view himself: as a monster. In the end, his story is about this struggle: Is he a monster or a man? Like all of us, he is a mixture of both, and I think in the end, he learns that it's his choice which one he gives power to and furthermore that true monstrosity is not in our looks but in our actions.

Your artwork looks like it draws a bit of inspiration from early disney princess movies, were you influenced in any way by Maestro Forte from the beauty and the beast midquel?

For some reason I only thought of asking this question after I heard you liked drawing Christine lol

I am very influenced by early Disney and Disney Renaissance, but I don't think I've seen any sequels other than Aladdin and the King of Thieves. I also draw from Alphonse Mucha a lot as well as the Pre Raphaelites. (:
