Diavolo: oh, yes! My father told me the human was armed only with a machete
Diavolo:
Diavolo: somehow, the human won

So I was told that Barbatos falling for MC in S4 was rushed, didn't make sense etc etc and I was 100% ready to agree because he barely seemed to like them in S3 and 3/4ths of S4 and I was completely sure nothing could suddenly change that
But like....
Okay look assuming he was always intrigued by MC and I mean who wouldn't be? They managed to make pacts with all 7 sins within a year, they're a human determined to live permanently with demons, they're literally a ticking time bomb, they became solomon's apprentice even after he ended things badly with his previous apprentice, they managed to make solomon change his views on demons - and that's not even the whole of it so yes they're very intriguing and I'm sure even Barbatos who wasn't into them was at least intrigued, intrested, drawn in by at least curiosity
Anyway imagine being Barbatos at the moment he fell for them
Imagine being half delirious, weaker than he's ever been, barely standing on his feet, 100% sure he's going to die via magical blackhole and terrified of abandoning Diavolo, and he gets saved by MC, not even by their magic but by pure brute strength, they wrap their arms around him and clutch him to their chest and protect him from the whipping wind, they save him and protect him and he's never needed to be saved or protected before, he's never needed to depend on someone before, and for someone who works as much as Barbatos, who's in this position because he saved three of the brothers and took on too much, to be able to let go of all that responsibility for even a second, to be able to sag into someone else and know that they'll take care of everything must be blissful, and then hair whipping around them MC tells him to snap out of it because Diavolo needs them so he definitely can't lay down and die now and honestly when was the last time anyone ever snapped at him? Of course he falls a little bit in love with them? How could he not?
Personally, I'd have dropped on to one knee right then and there in front of them

Mammon: Y'all fucking? Barbatos and you??
Mc: I mean. I mean. Yeah. We are
Asmo's all like "human kink" till he notices that Mc has like. Some fancy demon sigil on them that basically means "hey. We're in love. We're in it for the long haul"
It'd be funny to have Mammon as the first pact still, because then it's all like "I was their first!" Meanwhile Barbatos is standing there like 🙂 "no."
Yo Mc and Barbatos are basically already demon-married and Diavolo just fucking bursts out crying like, come on man, why would you keep this from meee 😭😭😭
Also hell yes, Barbatos just standing behind Mc and smiling at Mammon in that scary way of his whenever he says that and Mammon just backtracks and is like "I I, I mean I was their, you know, first pact and all... Ok, I'll just uh, I'll leave... BUT NOT BECAUSE I'M SCARED OK, you're NOT intimidating AT ALL!!!"
"Do you want to come over for tea this afternoon? The young master is busy with his work, so I can take a bit of time to.. indulge" cue all the other demons in the classroom freaking out because holy shit did he just, really just invited the exchange student over to probably fuck on a date at the demon Castle right in front of everyone?? Like maybe they just kinda assumed that you know, Barbatos did actually have a human kink but no, he's not ashamed to show everyone he's involved with the human oh my gosh

Same human, Different Demons (Diavolo X MC X Barbatos)
This is the part 6 of Cold and Warm Blooded Pt2 Pt3 Pt4 Pt5
Summary: After such a rough couple of days through the change, your demons are now in search of you.
Warning: Violence, Drowning, Cannibalism and Injuries
You wake up from your nap when you feel the room shaking. You groan and hide your face under the pillow not wanting to wake just yet. You knew that was Diavolo getting angsty again.
You know that you need to get up and prepare his dinner. You took the pillow off your face and set to the side before grabbing then tossing the blanket off of you and climbed out of bed. You gave your body a couple of stretches before walking out of your room.
As soon as you step out in the halls, you immediately feel hot. You know that there’s no air condition in this castle so you just have to power through the sudden heat surge. You wanted to question why this heat when there's no sun. And two it's close to night so even if this follows human day temperature even without the sun, it shouldn’t be this hot at all.
But then you remember Diavolo is seeping heat from his room. So maybe it is starting to go through the whole castle now.
You strip off your pajama shirt and tie it around your waist and start making your way to the kitchen.
Walking through the halls you pass by the one which leads to Barbatos’ room. You stop yourself from heading to his room for now and focus on making dinner.
When you arrive at the kitchen you begin to make dinner a simple dish for you and a big meal for Diavolo.
As you gather everything you realize that you are out of special spice for Dia’s dish. You know that Barbatos kept some extra in storage when this sorta thing happened.
You make your way to the storage room, when suddenly the room shakes and a loud roar accompanies it. You could ignore it, but this felt different somehow. Before you think further a big shake shooks the whole castle than a sound of a wall crash follows. From what you heard, it came from where Diavolo’s room is.
Welp Diavolo is out and roaming through the halls and you're frozen in place, both fear and excitement but mostly fear is going through your mind right now. On one you really miss him and just want to hold him. But on the other hand he is not exactly himself right now. And from all the roaring and thrusting all day it seems that he is not in a happy mood.
Well out that thing was dash as soon you heard loud steps coming your way. Which is enough for you to snap out of your thoughts and run towards the opposite direction of the steps.
As you run your first instinct is running to Barbatos’ room. Sure he might be in his pupa or whatever but you're better off being near him right now.
Your heart races as soon as the steps get louder and the halls start to shake along with each step. You instinctively look back but you stop when there’s nothing behind you but you can hear and feel Diavolo running throughout the halls as the shake gets violently as you feel it getting closer. Then you realize that you two aren't on the same floor and in fact Diavolo is right below you. As the step is coming towards you, your heart beats as fast as the step got close and the shaking got intense before you felt and heard them running past you and away from you.
He must have followed your scent from the kitchen, which was on the ground floor. And the storage room where you were supposed to be heading is on the second floor. So you're safe for now. Unfortunately that means you can’t go to Barbatos seeing that his room is on the ground floor.
But knowing that Diavolo is tracking you by scent, you decide to lure him away from the ground floor and into the third floor of the castle.
You immediately turn and run to the nearest staircase and head up. Once in the third floor you run through the hall and touch somethings in the hall, making it seem that you're panicking. Eventually you found yourself in the hall where Diavolo’s room is. You gasp to see the hall is completely destroyed, the painting, tables, vase as broken and the walls are either clawed or cracked with some debris falling off the wall.
You pause and look around right at the end of the hall is a staircase before it was Daivolo’s room. You move quickly and stop right at Diavolo’s door well where his door and wall used to be. Turn forward and see the staircase that Daiolo used is a wreck as well. You move and walk inside Diavolo’s room and your nose is greeted with a scent of blood and burnt flesh. You look down and gasp to see the mess of blood all over the floor, with some of his clothes scattered on the floor as well.
You quickly took a survey of the room and it's a complete disaster all the, most of the furniture is either broken in half or shattered in pieces. You were about to leave when a sudden ring startled you.
You looked around and saw a tiny light peeking through under a pile of broken wood.
You quickly move and move the pieces of wood and saw it was Diavolo’s phone ring from a call from Lucifer. You quickly answer it. “Lucifer!”
“MC?” It wasn’t Lucifer but instead it was No.1 “Sorry, I just really miss D-D”
Before you reply another roar shakes the castle, you cover your head as some pieces of the ceiling start falling before the shaking stops and the roar fades. You heard No.1 panicking at the other end but end the call and quickly run to Diavolo’s closet and hid his phone in a pile of clothes before closing the closet doors and ran out of the room. You head to the staircase closeby, you stop when you saw the middle of the stairs is gone.
You took a deep breath before leaping over the gap and rolled on your back and hit the ground, making you groan, but you quickly recovered and got right up and ran down the remaining flit of stairs and finally made your way back to the second floor.
You make your way to your room and grab your phone from the nightstand and start head down to the ground floor. Once there you slow down and carefully walk around the hall. You know that Diavolo is getting angry at this point. You pause for a moment and place your hand on the wall, you carefully listen and feel where Diavolo could be. Sure enough his right back to the third floor of the castle.
Right at that moment you pull out your phone and dial his phone. As you processed to head to Barbatos’ room.
Quietly turn the corner, you stop dead in your tracks and let your phone slip out of your hand. You gasp when you see barbatos’ door wide open.
As your mind runs through all the worst scenarios that could’ve happened to Barbatos, when suddenly a tail quickly wraps around your body pinning your arms to your side and your legs close together. Before you have a chance to scream the tail coil around your head covering your mouth.
Slowly lifted you off the ground, turning you around. At that moment you're staring at a creature with black glisten skin with teal reflective highlights when light shines on it. Its green slit pupils with black tinted sclera look deep into your eyes. What happens next sends shivers down your spine as the creature spoke.
“My jewel…”
It's Barbatos. Even with the deep slick and a slight inflection of his voice and the fact he's not in his human form not but his more demonic form, just how he said your pet name is somewhat comforting tells you that you don’t have to be afraid of him for now.
Remember that this is Barbatos you're talking about the demon with secrets past that you have no knowledge about and added that his a difficult demon to read makes his action unpredictable. Yes, this Barbatos you love so dearly, but after seeing and experiencing Diavolo’s change first hand, you’ll have to be careful with the demon right in front for now.
Unfortunately your moment was interrupted by a roar from a distance. Barbatos turns his head slightly up and hiss in anger then turns back to you before lifting you over his head and gently sets you down on his back between his fin-like wings. He unwraps his tail, you immediately gasp for air and quickly grab his fins when he suddenly starts moving.
You look around for any sign of Diavolo, you don’t want to leave him like this, you were just buying time to think of a solution. But Now Barbatos has taken you off to who’s nowhere. You now worry for both of your safety.
Walking down the hall Barbatos makes his way to the main hall. It was dark with only the moonlight from devildom moon through the windows helping you see.
Barbatos looked around for a moment before turning towards the back entrance of the castle. He stopped and stood in front of the doors, he leaned his head forward tapping his snout on the door and quickly you felt a small surge of magic flow through his body. Then you heard the spell on the door break.
He pulls back and lets the doors open on itself. Once the doors are fully open, Barbatos duck down enough that he is able to walk through the down, you quickly drop on your stomach while still holding on his fin, as you go under and through the door frame. Once outside after a week or so in the castle, the air of the night quickly hits you and you are greeted by the cold and semi-freezing air of the night.
You use your free arm to hug yourself for warmth when suddenly you feel Barbatos’ fin move and fold over your body enough to cage or pin you close to his body so that way you don’t have to hold on to his fin.
Walking across the garden Barbatos made it to the castle’s lake and without wasting a single second he just walked into the water emerging half of his body into the lake he made sure to keep his upper half out of the water for your safety.
He swims across the lake swimming around the island gazebo and to the woods near the castle.

Diavolo is getting frustrated. The human’s scent seems to wander all over the place. But his patience is completely gone. The moment he heard a ringing in his room when he just got back to his floor, he just lost it.
He quickly makes his way back to his “den” destroying the rest of the wall when he rushes in the room. “Human…” what he would have said, but it came out more like a growl and roar-like tone in his voice, his tone has a hint of frustration in it.
He walks over to the closet, just using his jaws he rips the door off it hinges. While biting down and crushing the pieces of wood in his mouth Diavolo looked at it but didn’t see the human. Only their scent in the closet and the ring. Until in the corner of his eye he saw something glowing under the pile of his former clothing.
He pulled back enough to get his claw in and use it to push away the clothing and there he saw a small glowing rectangle, he tapped his claw on it and dragged it out of the closet and into the open.
He glanced down at the small thing, then he saw a familiar image on the thing. He narrowed his eyes to focus on the image. It is strange why he feels like there’s something stirring up within him when he sees the image. Like a different type of heat, warmth of passion.
All of the sudden the image disappeared, the ringing stopped and the glow went out. Diavolo let out a confused grunt before moving the small rectangle thing so it can show the picture again.
After a few attempts, Diavolo is getting frustrated. In the fit of anger he slammed his clawed hand on the thing smashing it to pieces.
Now angry he threw his head back he let out a loud and booming roar that shook the room. He stopped and quickly turned around and ran out of the room. He paused and sniffed around the hall, and there he once again caught the scent of the human. He looks over to the side where the staircase is. He can smell the human’s scent in that direction. He growled and ran towards it. He crashed through the stair dropping down on the second floor.
He paused, he closed his eyes and started sniffing again, he followed the scent and it stopped in the room. He can tell that the scent isn’t strong inside but mostly fades like the human stops inside before running back out. Then his nose leaned him back to the staircase. Getting impatient he stomps his clawed hand on the floor hard even though the floor gives way. He drops down on the ground floor and lands on all four before standing straight and tall with an angry expression on his face.
As soon as he inhales, he is hit with a familiar scent, one that he rages on, he knows that it's another powerful demon. But what boils his blood is the fact he can smell the other demon’s scent over the human. He's looking for any sign of the other demon that has his human.

Somewhere in Devildom’s woods lies an old tomb within a Cenote or a natural pit/sinkhole where Barbatos calls home.
The water is just the right temperature, you lay on his old and yet clean nest. You don’t dare move. As surrounding you is Barbatos in his full glory. In his true form.
You didn’t get a chance to see how you got to this place, because as soon as you two reached a certain point of the woods by the castle, he used his fins to shield you, basically blocking your view of your surroundings.
And when he did unfold his fins, you two are already here in his pit and he reaches back and grabs you by your shirt, lifting you up and setting you in the middle of his nest before crawling around in a circle before curling around the nest and falling asleep. And when you did try to leave the nest, he gave you a warning hiss making you quickly crawl back into the nest. Once he senses your back where you're supposed to be, he sighs and whispers with a hiss. ‘My Jewel’
Great, That means you can’t leave. Flop back to the middle of the nest and hug your knees close to your chest then rest your chin on your knees. You stare blankly for a moment before looking up and take notice of the beautiful colorful stone right above Cenote, what makes it even more gorgeous is the moonlight shining through the hole of the Cenote bounces off the stones making the cave shine like you were in a light show party.
‘I guess this isn’t so bad?’ you thought to yourself as you reached your hand up so you could let one of the lights that hit your palm. All of a sudden, Barbatos' eyes fly open, he hits before raising his head and he faces right at the hole of Cenote. Then you heard a fade roar from the distance.
Diavolo?!? The first thing you thought of.
“Barb-” But you were cut off by Barbatos getting up and just jumping into the water, swimming across and scaling up the wall of the Cenote and climbing out of it. All in mere seconds. You blink and get up on your feet. “Barbatos!!!” You yell his name and stomp your foot.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+
“I can smell the trees burning and ashes filling the air” Barbatos thought to himself as he silently moved around the woods and followed the trail of Diavolo’s scent. One part of his mind is telling him to stay away from Diavolo due to the scent he’s letting out. A warning scent.
But Barbatos ignores his internal instinct for the sake of helping his friend, and what he knows as his family. And is going to make sure that he doesn’t burn the whole woods to ashes. He knew the risk of taking you away from the castle where Diavolo sees it as his den. So drawing Diavolo out of the castle, and in an area where there is least likely to be damage to the castle, the denizens, and the rest of the main capital of Devildom.
At least here the west side of devildom’s woods Barbatos has the territorial advantage and that he has something to put out the fires from Diavolo’s flames if this escalates.
The west side of Devildom is similar to the human world’s amazons where the trees and the atmosphere is wetter with an occasional rain every three to four hours.
Although Barbatos thinks that this place will only help to not let the fire spread fast enough. That means he was near him when he started going on a rampage. Which is now!
Just as Barbatos predicted, a sound of a loud roar and something hitting several trees can be heard in the distance. He quicken his pace towards the noise, and just getting close Barbatos can fill the heat in the air as if he was walking into an oven.
All of a sudden, from afar Barbatos saw a light coming at him quickly. He hissed and quickly turned to the left dodging the flames. He pauses and watches as the fire ball hits a couple trees burning them instantly. He sighs and turns his attention back to what's in front of him. There he saw two pairs of burning gold eyes glaring at him as smoke seeped out of his nostrils within the shadow of the trees. “Milord” He tried to communicate with him through mind but all he could hear was growling.
Barbatos knows that this is going to be difficult since he knows that Diavolo is lost to his instinct. Barbatos had no choice but to play along with how Diavolo's mind is at the moment. So he spread out his fins so he can seem bigger to Diavolo and let out a challenger roar. In return Diavolo roars then the sound of his four mighty wings flaps sending up in the air right above the trees Barbatos kept his sight on Diavolo and when he was up in the air, there he could see Diavolo whole form.
A dragon with black scales, with red that makes somewhat a magma like contrast with his black scales, His four huge wings with gold on each end of a wing tip. His bulky torso, his arms have these thicker scales that make it look like armor, he had his tail swing back and forth. His face snarled with all four fangs sticking out of his mouth. His eyes glows gold with the sclera black.
Diavolo growls before swooping down towards Barbatos. The cold blooded demon quickly turned around and ran. Barbatos has to make sure that he doesn’t get caught or lose Diavolo in the trees. His plan is to get him to an open area big enough so he can face him properly.
Diavolo growls before breathing down his hell fire at Barbatos, actually hitting his tail. Barbatos hissed in pain but quickened his pace, keeping some distance from the flames. Diavolo stopped and flew up higher.
Barbatos sees the clearing and rushes out of the woods, but stops when Diavolo lands right in front of him.
Both demons are now in an area where they can clearly see each other. Diavolo stood tall while Barbatos was close to the ground. The two are in a stare down. With an occasional growl from Diavolo and a defensive hiss from Barbatos.
Diavolo pauses for a moment then turns his head to the right and groans, eyes close shut before facing back to Barbatos. “The human!” He growls as he communicates to Barbatos.
“Sire, you are in no state to see them-”
“You don’t get to keep them away from me!” He huffs flames out his nostrils.
Barbatos sighs and hiss before taking a calm demeanor then sat and stood tall. “I’m merely keeping them safe for now. You haven’t given me a reason to trust them to you. This might seem harsh. But I am doing what you ask me to do.”
“At this rate, he will surely lose it. But if I provide a reason for him to control his inner instinct maybe… Just maybe he’ll come to his senses like I have.”
Barbatos relies on Diavolo’s drive to keep you safe as his anchor to snap some bit of control with him. He knows it's difficult to have some self-control and not fall into their demonic tendencies. He was guilty of being a little… possessive earlier with you back at the nest but the sense of smelling a “rival” in the area snapped him out of it.
“I will not play this foolish game with you, Duke!” There it was, Diavolo calling Barbatos Duke due to his connection to Solomon and the other seventy one demons who are under his control aka The Ars Goetia. Barbatos knew that Diavolo was not in the mood to talk civilly, due to calling him as his former status which never once Diavolo called him that.
It's been such a long time since he’s been called duke, he much prefers to be known as the most trusted butler to the Future King of Devildom.
Barbatos shook his head in a sign that he was a bit disappointed. “I’m sorry Milord, but I will not let you get near them.”
That was the last straw, Diavolo growls before unleashing a powerful fire breath, but Barbatos quickly dodge and crawl behind Diavolo. While the latter follows him while sending flames at his wake.
Barbatos saw an opening and took it, getting up to Diavolo and quickly climbed on the demon prince and wrapped his long body around the demon prince’s torso, arms, upper wings, and neck subduing him, bringing down to the ground. Then dug his claws into a gap between Diavolo’s scales latching to make sure he doesn’t unwrap.
Then he uses the ability to cool down his body to a ridiculous low temperature so Diavolo’s body reacts and slowly succumbs to cold change. Diavolo, like Leviathan, was a cold blooded demon, although Diavolo’s is a demon that can warm his body due to his nature ability of hell flame. It would take a demon who can use ice, snow and cold magic/spell to barely snuff out one of his flames. Luckily that Barbatos is the right demon in this situation.
Diavolo is not letting Barbatos put him down, not like this. This method is not the way for a prince to go down. So he use his tail to flop him and Barbatos over, his body slam down hard on Barbatos the impact cause his sharp spikes that are running down his back to pierce to Barbatos causing the smaller demon to groan and hiss in pain and letting and unwrap himself off of Diavolo. The Prince quickly reacts and turns around and pins Barbatos but his throat. He leans in close and snarls and growls at the smaller demon. He was about to bite down his neck when suddenly he heard a voice making him stop midway.
He perks his head up and points his head where the voice is coming from and there he can hear your voice. He growls before letting go of Barbatos’ neck and turns and marches towards where you were. But Barbatos stops him by moving his head and bites down on one of Diavolo’s hind legs. But The prince didn’t flinch, instead he swung his tail towards Barbatos sending him crashing towards the trees. Diavolo huffs and continues on to his destination.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+
You end up just taking a swim in the large lake within cenote, with only wearing your under shirt and pants you float facing up, staring at the hole above and admire the beautiful devildom ‘day’ sky, well you presume since it seem to be lighter then before and that was always your way that you can tell if its ‘day’ here.
“I hope they aren’t killing each other right now.” You said it out loud, before sighing then let your whole body sink into the water. You let yourself be engulfed by the semi warm water of the lake and think back how this whole week started and compare now. And that you wish that you can be with both Barbatos and Diavolo right now, and how you think they’ll enjoy swimming with you here in this lake.
You were too distracted by wondering about Diavolo and Barbatos that you didn’t see something at the bottom of the lake coming at you, then reach out and wrap its tentacle around your ankle and instantly pull you, snapping you of your thoughts.
You look down to see a human sized octopus like a demon. You gasp and try to swim up and resurface to breathe in air before it pulls you back. You reach down and try to pry the tentacle off your leg then try to kick it a couple with your other foot, before trying to use your nails to pierce through their skin, it worked for a bit just enough to slide your leg out and try to swim back up to the surface.
You gasp for air then quickly swim back where the nest is, you don't have to look back, to see the sub-demon swimming towards you. You reach back to the rock where the nest is and try to climb back up. But that demon wrapped its tentacle on your ankle again and tried to pull you back into the water.
You grab onto a rock and pull yourself towards before wrapping your arms around the rock. Your skin got scratched when the sub-demon pulled on you so hard that your skin scraped onto the rock.
You try to think of a spell to use, but each time you try to say the spell. The sub-demon pulls on you. That causes your jaw to hit the rock and make you bite on your tongue.
You scream in pain as tears start to fall from your eyes.
Not a second past, all of a sudden something huge drops down from above into the water and makes a huge ass wave cause you to push to the nest and slide roughly on your side injuring you further. Then you felt a harsh pull on the leg that the sub-demon was holding to and it quickly unwrapped. Then you heard it scream in pain before a loud crunching and the thing went silent then you heard chewing and the smell of burning octopus hits your nose. You slightly open your eyes to see a giant black and red dragon chewing the sub-demon upper half while the lower half is dingling and you see a couple of body twitches for the sub-demon.
Then you watch quietly as the dragon throws its head back then opens its jaw up to swallow the rest of the sub-demon whole, it licks its lips before shooking its whole body. You probe up by your arms and slowly crawl away from the dragon in the lake.
It notices you and slowly walks towards you, you shriek when you hear the water splashing behind you. Then a large scale hand drops down over you caging you underneath. You quickly turned and looked down at your feet to see the dragon peeking under its claw.
Then it drags its claw and you down toward it. You back into its claws trying to get away from it.
Right as it gets you close to it. Something drops down from above and into the water. Then it leaps out of the water and onto the dragon biting down on its neck. Making it groan and pull away from you.
Scramble away before stopping when you hit your back on the mouth of the cave past the nest. You brought up an arm shielding your chest and face as you watch Barbatos biting and holding on by the dragon’s wings for dear life as said dragon is thrusting and shaking its whole body to get Barbatos off it.
As some of the fear from nearly drowning to death slowly fades, you start to think clearer, that when it clicks that this dragon is Diavolo.
You gasp as Diavolo grabs Barbatos where his stomach is and throws him across the lake and into the wall of the cenote. You acted quick and with all your reminding magic within you. You cast a barrier wall in the middle of the lake closing both demons on either side of the lake.
You pant heavily and slowly laid yourself down beside the nest and just passed out from exhaustion.
End of Part 6

Well this was longer then expected, since Mc and the royals are reunited all what's left is taming part of the story. That would be the last part. Again I'm sorry of this delay of this part. My writing mood tend to be all over the place.
Also here are the links to Lucifer’s, Mammon’s, and Levi’s solo pairing in this AU
If there’s grammar or spelling error, please let me know and don’t be shy to leave a comment or rebloging with cute tags. I just love to see you guys thoughts on this :3

Longing
Barbatos can't remember how long it's been. It must've been millenia since he first saw them in his visions. He always had been conflicted when it came to his visions, as it was never clear which time line it would be the future of. In general he came to find they mostly concerned how the current future would go, should they continue with their actions. Thanks to him Devildom had always been prepared to face threats ahead of time.
Although, he couldn't say his visions were something he looked forward to. They were unpredictable, either completely useless or events with possibly disastrous results. Never had he thought to describe them as pleasant or even lovely. Perhaps his mind just wasn't searching for lovely things to see. All of that changed after he saw them for the first time all those thousands of years ago.
It was one of the rare times he actually slept, let alone in a timely manner. That night he had a vision of a Human, a very special Human. He saw them infront of a stove looking down at a plate of sweet treats and tea. They looked up and smiled at him, complementing his baking skills. Strange... this was the first time he remembered having a vision from his perspective. Besides that; he didn't bake. He made excellent tea, that's true but his culinary experience was lacking to say the least. That was not his responsibility but the royal chef's.
He tried brushing it off in the morning, focusing on serving the young Prince instead. It likely would have been a lot easier if it weren't for that strange lacking he felt. The vision left a sickeningly sweet taste in his mouth and had his heart beating loudly in his chest. That was new.
He started looking forward to these visions of them, as short as they were, when they started reappearing. He knew near to nothing about that mysterious Human, neither name nor status or even interests. The time of which it'd take place was unclear also, the Devildome barely changed from what he knew, but their way of talking was so different from what he was used to, just like their clothing and mannerisms.
Never had he particularly felt connected to his sin, that being greed. The last time must've been... maybe close to a hundred thousand years ago. He himself, ironically, had trouble keeping track of his lifetime. I guess being an allmighty Demon looking through time and space does that to you. Ever since they appeared in his visions though, he felt almost impatient. Barbatos wanted to meet them, to get to know all about them and spoil them rotten. He wanted their attention, all of their time. It felt good to finally have an outlet for his sin. He even started picking up new hobbies such as baking and cooking, mainly due to curiosity since he apparently will be such a wonderful chef in the future. He found it came easily to him, and it was a whole lot of fun. His master would be pleased with the delicious pastries and meals he'd cook up and he could entertain himself in some way.
To know that he was the only one aware of the Humans (future) existence pleased him. It satiated part of his greed, but only helped to strengthen his longing.
Over the years he grew even more stoic, professional and experienced. He carried himself with grace and poise elegantly catering to the royal family, they had quickly become his number one priority. The visions didn't stop, he learned to weaken his greed, there were more important things to deal with in the present. While part of him wanted to know who they are and when he'll finally get to see them, he knew it would only serve to distract him more. Instead he relished in the fact of not knowing when he'll meet that mysterious Human. Finally he had something to look forward to in life, a goal to reach. But never would he have imagined just how important that Human would end up being, not just to him but to all those around him.

Am I happy?💚🫖
“I’m sorry what was that?” Barbatos asks, unsure if he actually heard the request correctly.
“You can see into alternate dimensions” MC states “could you tell me, in any of those alternate realities, am I happy?”
He knew MC had been fighting their depression battle a little bit more lately. He had seen the food still on their plate at lunch or the half drank tea cups. So he couldn’t say he was surprised at the request.
“You want me to see if you are happy in any other reality?” Barbatos parrots.
“Yes” MC confirms
“Statistically speaking, of course there is a reality where you are happy” he reasons.
MC takes a deep breath “I need to know, Barbs”
The nickname is what gets him. Not that he had planned to deny MC, as if he even could, but hearing the nickname he was so fond of, he couldn’t keep it from them
“As you wish” he said softly, noting the relief on Mc’s face.
As he looked, he selfishly looked for realities where MC was not only happy, but where MC was happy with him. He found many of those, realities in where MC had picked him, and lived happily ever after.
“I see many realities where you are not just happy but overjoyed with your life MC...”
He then began describing all the realities he saw, careful not to give too much away and described how happy MC was.
The relieved smile on MC’s face was enough to know he’d done something right.
MC threw their arms around him and thanked him profusely. He then watched them walk away.
He let out a sigh, he knew in this reality MC would be blissfully happy, but this was not the reality they were happy with him.
However, just as the other realities comforted MC, he too took comfort knowing that there was a version of them that loved him, and only him.

Deal With a Devil
Rating: Mature (for some violence) Archive Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply Category: Gen Fandom: Shall We Date?: Obey Me! Relationships: Barbatos & Solomon Characters: Barbatos, Solomon Additional Tags: Omnipotence, Minor Violence, Demon Summoning Summary: Solomon is willing to give anything to get back what he lost, even if it costs him his immortal soul and a headache. A/N: If the game won’t give me their backstory, I will write it myself. Word Count: 2153
Some things were worth whatever risks came with them. That's what Solomon told himself as he finished dragging his finger through the sand in front of him. The symbol he'd made was ancient and nearly forgotten, a borrowed darkness from another land, a relic that time had tried so desperately to hide. If his gods wouldn't aid him, he would turn to the horrors of a different making.
His hands trembled in anticipation, his mouth going dry and the nerves blurring out his vision. He had already come so far. He had already come too far to turn back. Even knowing that, he was terrified. What would become of him after he went through with this? Would he still be king of his people? Would he still be beloved and revered for his wisdom? Would this even work? More terrifying, what if it didn’t?
That was the one outcome he couldn’t accept.
With one final breath, he steeled his nerves and grabbed the knife from his side, slicing into his palm and letting blood drip along the blade before stabbing it into the last spot in the circle.
“Hear me, denizens of darkness, you who are born of shadow and you who give birth to it.” Solomon began to chant the words he’d found, ignoring the lump in his throat and the feeling of dread in his gut. “Hear me and do as I command. I call upon you to send forth one of your number.” If he could even manage it. “I summon the demon Barbatos.”
As soon as the last of the words were out of his mouth, frigid air whipped past his face from the symbol on the ground, twisting and blowing his hair about as magma pulsed through his veins and burned him from the inside out. He doubled over, crossing his arms in front of his chest to try and contain the feeling that his organ would expand and burst inside of him. All of his muscles, from the ones in his feet to the one behind his eyes, felt like they were being stabbed with millions of tiny needles that were pushed in slowly and deeply.
He couldn't help but puke from the pain, not even noticing that the harshness of the frozen wind was like a razor cutting and pulling away layers of his skin while the blood that oozed out boiled and raged and burned what flesh it could still find. As something inside of him began to slosh around, flooding his organs and drowning him from the inside out, he couldn't help but consider his own mortality.
This is how he was going to die.
"If that's what you want, there are significantly easier and infinitely less painful ways than this. Don't you think?"
Solomon froze at the voice he'd never heard before. It was like a song, or perhaps a scream? A man or maybe a woman? Ancient and young simultaneously. His limbs shook as his body began to fail him and the sound of the voice breaking down his mind.
Despite the stabbing pain, he flicked his eyes up to see who had spoken to him. Before him, inside the symbol he had drawn, stood a man. No, not a man. No man bore horns like wings or a tail that glistened. No man has claws so deep and teal for fingers or arms and legs marbled in black and teal with white lightning coursing over then. No man had eyes that seemed to hold entire galaxies. No, this was no man; this was a demon.
"Barbatos, to be exact. At your service." He bowed low and deep. "I'm impressed to see you've yet to die. Usually, I arrive to a corpse or three when I come to the human realm. Color me intrigued." He smiled in a way that didn't quite reach his eyes.
Solomon tried to speak, but all he managed was to cough up some of the blood filling his lungs.
"Ah, yes. Just because you're not yet dead doesn't mean you aren't dying. That's unfortunate." The demon stood upright, tall and proud with a lackadaisical smile still on his face. "You may want to fix that."
Were all demons so capricious?
"Can you not, yet? I do suppose this is the start of the timeline…" He appeared to ponder something with bemusement. "I always join at the worst moments. I really should start toward the climax. That's where all the delightful rising tension is."
His eyes peered downward, lips frowning slightly at the edges. "You can do better than this, can't you? Or, you will someday, at the very least," he said as he reached a foot over the outer rim of the symbol without so much as flinching.
Solomon, even through the pain, felt shock. The symbol he drew wasn't only meant to summon the demon, but to keep him contained so he wouldn't prove a threat to those that called on him. This demon, however, was able to step over what should have been his most steadfast barrier of safety.
"It's not much of a barrier, really. Nothing like what you will make when you're more accustomed to your magic. Although, even then my staying in place will be more out of camaraderie than your own power. Assuming you live, that is. Which, you must, given what will be. Unless we're in an offshoot timeline, in which case you should probably pray to your God now because we're about to be eradicated from existence."
Solomon wanted to respond, but his body was too broken to hold a conversation.
"Ah, yes. I should fix that first or else this truly will become a discarded timeline." Barbatos held his hands in front of him, palms up and open as he caught a book that seemed to fall from the sky.
"Traditionally, at least at this point, aiding a human would be ridiculed and looked down upon; superiority complex and all. However, if one were to get a hold of a demon's grimoire even the most powerful of us would have to humble ourselves." He dropped the book in front of Solomon. "Oh my, it seems you've found mine."
It was suspicious how easily this demon seemed to be aiding Solomon. He had expected a creature more nefarious and cunning.
"There is no point in playing games when I already know what will happen. You and I shall be phenomenal partners in the future and I would rather begin this chapter on an amicable note rather than an antagonistic one." His tail flicked behind him as he grinned knowingly. "Please take the book, or else I'll have to divert to a different reality where you do and, therefore, subsequently don't die. We'll consider the pact made and the terms agreed upon once you touch it. Fair for both parties, don't you agree?"
Without any negotiation, this demon was trying to seal a deal that Solomon hadn't agreed to. Even dying and in pain, he knew agreeing to such terms was a terrible decision.
"There are no tricks, I assure you. I already know what the terms of our deal shall be and am acting within them. Relationships are built on trust, you know. You simply have to trust me."
Solomon couldn't say trust came easy, especially in this moment. However, he knew where he stood. He was crawling closer to death with each passing second and wasting even one more meant he would lose everything he so desperately wanted. So, even if he didn't trust Barbatos yet, he would have to rely on him.
He reached out a shaking hand and placed it on the book. As soon as he made contact with it, a new searing pain shot through his nerves and straight into his heart.
Solomon swore out loud, almost too shocked to realize he no longer felt like his inside were flooded with thick blood.
"Yes, for all intents and purposes, you are better. Or, rather, this you was never injured because they never had the courage to offer part of themselves to me. Unfortunate, but it means a spare body was lying around. Everything else of importance has remained the same, so it is what it is."
Solomon shook in anger, both at the roundabout way this demon spoke but also at the realization that he had gotten himself involved in something far beyond even his limited understanding.
"Are you unpleased? I thought you wanted to summon me. That's why you went out of your way to find my summoning circle, is it not? I only showed up because I thought you were invested in the future we'll have together. If not, I would much rather go home. The king is liable to set something on fire if I'm gone for too long. He's nothing like his great grandson, unfortunately."
Solomon couldn't get a word in edgewise.
"Because I already know the script. It's already hard enough to wait for the proper prompt so the timeline remains consistent. If I had to wait for it to be said out loud, I think I would get too frustrated to tolerate this conversation at all. I'm not the man I will be someday. He's much more tolerant of the slow pace of all of you living in the present moment after he stops looking through time. I'll practice." Barbatos kneeled down to Solomon's level and tapped on the book. "This is an aide. You'll need it for our pact; for the time being, anyway. Until you become the greatest sorcerer, anyway. Simple enough once you begin to ignore death of your own volition rather than my generosity since you'll have all the time in the world."
"Now you speak," Barbatos finally ended.
The first thing Solomon finally managed to say was a string of curses and expletives.
"Strange. I expected something more profound."
"What have you done?" Solomon finally managed to ask, eyes wide in horror.
"I forged our pact. That was the point of our meeting. Mutual benefits symbolized through the carving on your flesh." He seemed to think for a moment. "Your heart in your case. That's the only thing I would accept."
Solomon took a deep breath, trying to calm himself and make sense of this conversation. "How am I alive?" He knew he'd been grievously wounded from the inside out, but there wasn't a trace of it left. Whatever Barbatos was going on about, he had to understand it.
"Because this body is fine."
He didn't understand that part.
"Think of it this way. You are here, at point a, at the moment, but if something happens to you that causes you to die," Barbatos narrowed his gaze before stabbing his long claws through Solomon's torso and grabbing his heart to pull it back out. Solomon gasped in surprise before his vision went black. Then he blinked and everything was back to normal, Barbatos with an empty hand still clutched around a heart that wasn't there, "that's when you jump to point b, where a body that isn't dying is waiting to receive your consciousness. Understood? That's part of the pact we made… will make?"
Solomon would have to ignore the fact that he had nearly died twice tonight. "We haven't even spoken about a pact yet."
He knew about pacts from the text he'd found; the same that taught him how to summon a demon in the first place. He knew that were a barter between a demon and human, but he'd yet to offer anything in exchange for this demon's power.
"But we will. After this script ends, we'll establish what we both want. I simply couldn't wait and went ahead with it before you could actually die on me. Speaking of which, this script is starting to bore me, so would you mind starting at the beginning again so we may have that conversation? I really must get back before My King does something unimaginable. Such an act would really upset my one-day Young Master."
Solomon opened his mouth to voice his desires, resigning himself to whatever in the world this conversation was, only to have the demon raise a single sharp finger against his teal lips and shushed him.
“I would so love to hear what it is you’ve summoned me for," after all, he needed to hear the desire voiced out loud at least once to keep the timeline consistent, "but you'll have to wait for about… 67 more words.”
Solomon's lips sneered back, anger boiling inside of him after all the strange mind games and past, present, future speak the demon had made him put up with so far. “Why not?”
“Because,” the edges of Barbatos’ mouth pulled back, exposing his toothy, unholy grin, “someone who shouldn’t be here is still watching.”
And don’t you agree that it’s rude to intrude on someone else’s private affairs?

Barbatos: I am perhaps already the undead, hauling my body around this mortal realm, haunted by the souls of the damned and the hungry who feast on my muscles and bones until I shall be dragged to hell once more.
Mc: Once again, I don’t know where that is on a 1-10 pain scale.
