We set out to explore how Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Berlin. Cinco de Mayo is a popular celebration in the U.S for sales for alcohol, ingredients like avocados for traditional dishes like guacamole, and Mexican-themed decorations…like the sombrero. Learning how Berliners celebrate Cinco de Mayo was interesting and something new. We spoke to a popular Mexican restaurant, Que Pasa, and a convenience store called Chili and Paprika.

I recorded this video of myself on Thursday, May 9th. This spot in Victoria Park has become my favorite spot in all of Berlin. I love to come here and listen to the birds, fire dance and draw on my creative side.

The diverse menu at the Canadian-owned bar Muted Horn. The beers range outside of the German norm and include a number of Belgian, American, English, and other foreign beers! The most popular menu item is a flight; there’s too many good beers to choose just one. Photo: Kayleigh Galko

This picture was captioned from a video that I took of myself at the Whirly Wednesday event in Rochester, New York. Every Wednesday night, a group of performers and friends meet up at a bar with a local DJ; the bar in this is Photo City Improv.
