i redid a bit of abbas's backstory and yeah, long story short, he's half-meracydian and has been there (notably BEFORE xande the first's reascension which would kickstart the meracydian war). he is not miqo'te though; i hc there were a lot of different ppl and cultures on meracydia and that the whole civlization in the churning mists wasn't the first time the dragons intermingled with other races/the races of men specifically. abbas's mother's people were dragon's kin, and they looked a bit like hyur but bigger and significantly more angular features. some of them had horns/scales although distinct and visually different from au ra, no two of them looked exactly alike. the most abbas has to show for this is that he has really huge sharp teeth and his face can warp/elongate to expose his teeth in a manner that really isn't Human in appearance, but he generally avoids doing this unless severely angered or threatened or having unhinged evil momence.

abbas is as much of a perpetrator as he is a victim when it comes to colonization, and he was very much used as a weapon by allag against his own people and their neighbours. the wholesale elimination of his mother's people was a key factor in the dragon's outrage and response with summoning bahamut; seeing the only men they'd grown attached to being wantonly slaughtered by other men just fueled the conclusion that mankind Cannot Be Trusted with anything, including itself.

although as part of my canon, a time-traveling future version of his azem is the one who did the pandae raids, abbas is aware of what happened, and he will now hate ascians 70% less as a result. elidibus may even recieve an apology for abbas implicitly telling him that he would personally go out of his way to find a way to destroy all of his kind as a result his actions against abbas during the meracydian war (which involved posing as a dead meracydian champion and causing a lot of unnecessary havoc that essentially undid all of abbas's secret efforts to secure a peace treaty and end the war peacefully and prematurely.)

sorry for inflicting abbas and his desire to kick all things that harm women in the teeth upon you. it gets worse during his round2 of him being the warrior of light bc he is now 5600+ yrs old and suffers from chronic Dad disease. it will happen again

every day i think abt how stuff like dalamud was literally secret government projects about which your average allagan knew little (like obviouly you can see dalamud in the sky but. i dont think the general public knew what was going in there) and was not necessarily responsible for. there were many allagans who are demonstrably reprehensible individuals, but i think those people get way too much representation tbh and as a result of this we forget that most allagans were essentially just random little guys who vegetated sadly in front of their aether-powered TVs (which is why allagan society was stagnating and amon was like !!!!!!! omg society is rotting!!!! we have to fix this!!!!) and even abbas didn't know about every experiment or government project, and i absolutely think he was lied to about about certain things (especially abt what was going on inside dalamud), and if abbas, who had government clearance out the ass, was being misguided and lied to, please consider how much the general allagan public was lied to and mislead. and we also forget the fact that the calamity that ended allag was partly due to amon and xande's angrypanic response to sudden mass uprisings across the empire once enough ppl found out what the government was Really Up To (and i have my own thoughts on how this happened, and abbas was absolutely 100% involved.) i think its safe to say that the actual majority of allagans were not okay with what was going on once they found out abt it. and never mind that there was also research going toward good causes, such as finding a cure for tempering (which amon shut down.)
