I definitely agree with u about Yuuri’s old programs just lacking something. The fact that its implied that he’s never really been apart of the creative process when making his programs makes me think that his skates are extremely musical/artistic, but not entirely his. I also feel like he would lack consistency and just rarely ever have a clean program.
Altogether, I feel like his situation was one where everyone saw the potential powerhouse he could become with his quads/spins/step sequences/musicality, but is just held back by poor packaging and a lack of personal touch to his skating. I really hope we can see past Yuuri’s programs sometime so we could see how much he grows with viktor
As for Viktor, I totally see his past programs as performances rather then an expression of himself. I picture that when he makes his comeback to skating after meeting Yuuri he choses a more quiet/soft classical piece that expresses his own emotions (something like Salut d’Amour perhaps), and has a more simple costume than usual, and it’s surprising for people to see just how expressive he is without all the trademark Nikiforov theatrics in his programs
If yall have any thoughts on programs Yuuri or Viktor skated too PLEASE send them my way, imagining Yuuri and Viktor’s past programs gives me so much serotonin
