mel dies in kens arms after stealing the angel egg, chaos ensues as everyone else figures out what mel is. Idea came from @ungoddlycreature !!

Oh god no.

No no no no no.

It wasn't supposed to end like this.

The plan was perfect, everything was happening exactly how Mel had planned it. They would have gotten away scot free, but Ken let his emotions get the better of him. Ken let his revenge get in the way of the only person that truly mattered to him the most.

He held his daughter's limp body in his arms, hoping and praying that she'd wake up and be just fine like always. Ken was just waiting for Mel's beautiful red eyes to open again and for her to laugh in his face for even thinking she was dead.

But it didn't happen.

Mel's eyes remained closed, her inky blood dripped from the many wounds across her body; and her body felt as cold as the rain from the inferno.

The angel egg rolled from her arms, a painful reminder of why they got into this situation in the first place.

None of this would have happened if Ken had just stuck to her plan. She'd be alive and giddy over her plan being a success. Now she was just a corpse, and she wasn't gonna come back like all the others could.

Ken wasn't sure how long he sat there with his daughter in his arms, at least until Breadhead opened the doors. He didn't know how to explain it, why Breadhead's sister wasn't reviving and why she was dripping with black blood.

"Whats the hold up back here? Shouldn't we get the show on the road and kill the egg once and for all-" Mud stopped himself mid sentence once he saw the scene for himself. His brother covered in purple and black, holding Mel in his arms like she was the most precious and fragile creature in existence. The angel egg tumbled from the back of the truck and fell to the ground with a hollow thud, fresh black marker smudging across the pale white shell.

Ken could only stare at them, his words caught in his throat like they were cemented there. Mud and Breadhead gave each other confused yet worried looks.

"Will she be ok?" Breadhead broke the silence. He wasn't sure why his sister wasn't coming back like they did, maybe his brain didn't want to connect the dots that Mel was the very thing they planned to kill. All Ken could do was shake his head no.

Mud felt emotions cascading over him like the waves crash against the island. Confusion, anger, pain, betrayal. He knew Ken kept secrets from him, that was normal. But hiding the fact that his own daughter was the one that's prophesied to doom everyone else? That enraged Mud beyond belief. "Isn't this what we wanted? To kill the human so we could have peace for another ten thousand years?!?" He yelled as he pushed passed Breadhead, climbing into the back of the truck to get in Ken's face.

"She wasn't just some human, damn it! She was my daughter and you know that!! Mel was a part of our family and now she's dead." Mud couldn't believe the words coming out of his brother's mouth. A part of the family?

"Are you listening to yourself Ken? Do you hear the utter BULLSHIT coming from your gullet? We did what we set out to do, sure it wasn't part of her plan but we succeeded didn't we? We actually ended the prophecy instead of putting on some show like she hoped for. She was probably hatching her own plan to betray us anyway." Mud barely had time to finish his sentence before Ken shoved the lanky rotling out of the back of the truck.

Mud stumbled as he backed away from his enraged brother. "You've got 5 seconds to get the hell away from me before I cement you myself, Mud." Ken clutched Mel's body, as if trying to protect her from the vile words Mud was spewing their way.

Ken looked over to Breadhead, who remained silent yet looked incredibly conflicted. His heart ached for his son, but he knew if Breadhead sided with Mud that'd mean Ken would have to leave him too. "Do you have anything to say?" Part of Ken hoped that his son would side with him, but the other part knew that Breadhead wouldn't want to stay with a father who lied to him his entire life.

Breadhead just stared at Mel's dead body, the gears in his brain turning and grinding in a desperate attempt to process everything. "Cmon Breadhead, you shouldn't stay with the man who fed you nothing but lies," Mud gruffed, pulling out a cigarette from who knows where and lighting it.

That ticked something off in Ken's brain, anger flowing through his veins like his own blood. "I told you to LEAVE," Ken began to charge at Mud, but hardly got out of the truck before Breadhead intervened. The look in Breadhead's eyes made Ken snap out of his rage and instead felt like a piece of his soul died.

" 'm staying with them Mud. And i think you should leave too," Breadhead sounded defeated, and it only infuriated Mud more. "Youre gonna stay with him?? Fine then, have fun being with the human lover. Maybe in another ten thousand years you can get another daughter." Mud yelled as he stomped back to the cab of the truck.

Without another word, Mud drove off.

Ken looked back down at Mel, choking back a sob, "You didn't have to stay with me, you probably shouldn't've." He realized that word was gonna spread soon, how Ken was keeping a human as part of his family and deceiving everyone around him. Tricking everyone into thinking he wasnt harboring the one thing that'd end it all for rotlings like him. "I don't forgive you, but 'm not gonna leave my family," Breadhead placed his large hand onto Ken's back, seemingly as a way to try to convey that he really wasn't gonna leave too.

"We should get back home and figure out what we're gonna do with her..." Ken couldn't bring himself to finish his sentence.

The idea of burying his one and only daughter was the straw that broke the camels back. Ken sobbed as he and Breadhead made the slow trek back to the butcher shop.

I am done with drawing the MD characters for the first or second time ever (depending on which character it was-)

I doubt I'll even touch the file ever again. There's 257 layers in it and almost 20 hours spent on it with 3 times i had to restore it, 2 of which were in the same damn day. I'm still gonna post Murder drones art.
