OC-tober: Defining Moment

Lightkit's death was a major turning point in a lot of my RedwoodClan OCs lives. I think about it a lot. ;-;

OC-tober: Ancient Relic

Pyrros often stares at the statue of his grandmother (the last leader of the Fire Dragons) when he feels lost. He misses her and the guidance she provided. Dragons have extremely long lifespans so it is an ancient statue despite being within 2 generations of their family.

Leo gave up his comfortable life as a kitty-cat to live with his mate, Shadowfang, in the pine forest. Leo is charming and handsome, though a bit vain and insecure about his sexuality. His kind heart and willingness to help anyone who needs it, even complete strangers, has gotten him in trouble more than once.

OC-tober: Battle Scars

Kirai normally wears a scarf to hide the scar on her throat, it's the one thing she's self-conscious about. The attack that caused it (by a rival's jealous boyfriend) and the surgeries to save her life and repair it afterward left her with a LOT of scar tissue around her larynx. This is why Kirai cannot speak without pain. She also had to give up her career as a singer. 🥺

OC-tober: Double Trouble

Lilith (White Hair) and Lailah (Black Hair) are the twin vessels of the demon, Knight (Sin's Right Hand.)

Some Lore Below Cut

Due to their obvious unusual appearances at birth and their demon's closeness to Sin, Knight's vessels are abandoned/killed as newborns much more often than other vessels. These two got lucky (?) and were found and raised within the Cult of Sin, a group that worships Sin and considers all demons (especially those close to Sin) holy. They are still young but have a better chance at survival than most vessels thanks to the cult's protection.

OC-tober: Hidden Power

Sweet little Molly meeting a young female Skin Person. You can't choose your familiars. 🥲

Context Below Cut

Molly is a vessel and her demon's familiar species is Skin People so they won't hurt her. Normally Skin People are extremely dangerous surplus killers (they collect skins to gift to their queens and build their hives) and humans either vacate any area they live, or are wiped out. Molly's brother, Keno, knows Molly is probably a vessel but does not know anything about her abilities as she hasn't really used them since their parents were killed.

Keno's weapon of choice is his fists + some firey "brass knuckles" for maximum damage. 😤

Not exactly a dreamscape, but I always imagine StarClan being all dream-like and shiny. For RedwoodClan in particular there are lots of huge trees to climb and they are all connected for easy travel and nobody takes fall-damage. Lightkit is not impressed. 🥲

Taima meeting Kalla for the first time (and getting taken down immediately) is a scene that's been in my head for a while. For context he was lurking nearby, saw her drop something, and tried to return it. Ofc she is a woman alone at night so she assumed he was a creep and took his ass down, as one does. 😊

The Exiled Deputy

The youngest kit of Pinestar, Shadowfang was groomed from the time of his apprenticeship to be the future leader of RedwoodClan. This plan fell apart when he was labeled a traitor and exiled for the murder of Pinestar, the clan's medicine cat, Dapplefur, and Nightwhisker, his own mother.

Bad nights happen and that's okay. Recovery isn't a straight line.

Been working on this redraw of a much older mini-comic from before Shadow and Leo were mates for a while now.

Some Lore Below the Cut

Shadowfang is very scent oriented.

When he has a night terror/flashback he gravitates towards those with scents he finds comforting to help ground himself and fend off nightmares. His ideal sleeping situation is with his nose buried in the fur of a cat with a comforting scent.

Leo has no idea, but this is a huge deal and reflecting on this night after the fact is what made Shadowfang realize that he returns Leo's feelings and can't keep denying it.

Leo is one of three (living) cats Shadowfang does this with.
