One thing I would love to see fandom get away from is an obsession with canon.  So many fans seem unhappy when what they wanted to see doesn’t become canon, and I am here to tell you that this is exactly what fandom should be for!  

Canon is great and all, and if you’re jiving with it, fantastic.  But if you’re not, if canon veers in a direction you don’t enjoy, or there are just aspects of canon that aren’t your thing, then fandom is exactly the place you should be able to disregard them.  Explore whatever rabbit hole you like.  Create alternate timelines to suit your tastes, ship non-canon ships, ship all the ships, end things differently.  Do what you like, and stop getting hung up on what canon says.  Fandom should be about pursuing your joy, even if (and often especially if) that joy veers of the well-trod canon paths.

Canon is a guideline that brings us all together.  It’s not the law.  It’s not the only path you can walk.  Please, I’m telling you, the sooner you give up canon fundamentalism and embrace the fanon that makes you happiest, the healthier and happier everyone is going to be in fandom.

what’s up danger playing from into the spiderverse when miles takes the leap of faith

the start of spiderman homecoming when they played the orchestral version of the spiderman theme for the first time

sweet victory

“sitting there useless as two shits hey, turn around bend over i’ll show you where my shoe fits”

the part in rwby where they slingshot ruby at the nevermore while the final part of red like roses pt.2 plays, the guitars blaring as she goes up the cliff and ending with the beheading

the end of guardians of the galaxy volume 2 where they start playing father and son

the part in thor ragnarok when hela asks thor “what were you the god of again?” before thor attacks her and starts going batshit crazy on the undead army while led zeppelin’s immigrant song plays

as this is by no means a comprehensive list, please add any soundtrack moments that were so Fucking Good they made you have a physical reaction.

I simply cannot feel sorry for multi-millionaire Scarlett Johansson only earning $20 million instead of $30 million or what the fuck ever because Disney recognised that large parts of the world still can't safely go to the cinema on account of the deadly pandemic and released Black Widow on Disney+ at the same time as in theatres. But then I also support anyone suing Disney for any reason, so you see my dilemma

Knot Magick

Knot magick is the practice of performing spells by tying knots. This kind of magick is also known as a witch’s ladder.

You can use string, ribbon, plant stems, pretty much anything you can tie into a bunch of knots.

A very simple way of doing knot magick that I know of is by setting your intention for the spell, and then tying 3 knots.

“By knot of one, the spell’s begun.

By knot of two, the spell comes true.

By knot of three, so mote it be.”

However, the most common way is to make 9 knots. Picking up at knot 4…

“By knot of four, the power is stored.

By knot of five, the spell’s alive.

By knot of six, my will is fixed.

By knot of seven, the future I leaven.

By knot of eight, my will is fate.

By knot of nine, what’s done is mine.”

There are different variations of the wording for these kind of spells, these are just the versions that I like.

If a specific number corresponds to your working, you could of course use that many knots. You don’t need to say the words I’ve listed above, you could just think them, or not use them at all! It’s your practice, do what works for you :)
