I went to London today to go see the dentist. I spent most of the day reading lecture notes on public transport. I had the fortune of sitting next to some very loud people on the bus talking about some not very PG topics.

I ended up feeling unwell from the previous night.

I started my day off by doing some laundry. I then went to the same café I went yesterday to go study with my friend for about an hour until it was dinner time. I went out into the cold wearing nothing but a T-shirt and blazer back to my accommodation to change into something warmer...

I got to have dinner and play a word guessing game with some people and then proceeded to go home to bed.

I totally missed out on lectures from oversleeping. My day was mostly filled with E-mail correspondence...ew.

For lunch I got a sandwich from a café I like and in the evening I got dinner in hall.

In the evening I went to a social drinks event where we were supposed to dress up as our favourite prime minister. I tried to go as Boris Johnson but got completely outshone by someone who actually had his stature and could put the impression on.

I overslept and ended up only going to the integration lecture today missing statistics, and fluids and waves.

I had lunch in hall and for dinner I had oven pizza.

In the evening I went to watch a debate which was followed by me going out to a nightclub.

I had lectures on integral transforms, numerical analysis and topology. I forgot to mention yesterday that due to the lecturer being on crutches and simultaneous I.T. issues the lecturers ended up dictating the course from printed slide note hand outs. It felt a bit like story time.

Tuesday 17 January 2023

I had lectures on rings and modules, fluids and waves, numerical analysis and integral transforms with fluids and waves being the only course I'm not taking exams on. I didn't understand the meaning behind the material derivative and the rest of it went downhill.

Our new choir director got us to do compline for the first time. The notation was strange but at least the music was easy to sing.

For dinner my friend with whom I watched American Psycho made a vodka sauce pasta--it was amazing.

First day of lectures this term! I went to a lecture on statistics, differential equations, and integration, the last of which being the only course I'm actually taking. The reason why I stayed for the others is because I plan to binge all the lectures in the courses I'm not taking so effectively I get to watch every course. Also it makes my schedule super easy to remember as it would be the same as last term, that is, 9am to 12pm Monday to Friday (well I actually had Friday free last term).

For lunch I went to hall and for dinner I went to my friends birthday party at a Chinese restaurant. I'm personally not a massive fan of sharing plates with other people but it is cool how they have the revolving glass tables. Afterwards we surprised him with a cake and an amazing ukulele rendition of happy birthday performed by yours truly. We all then proceeded to eat lots of cake, especially me.

I forgot to mention in the previous post I had to wake up for three hours of choir rehearsal at ten in the morning--but I digress.

On this day I did work and had the performed in the first evensong of the term. Later in the evening during a JCR meeting one of the freshers got on all fours to crawl around one of the quads in a race against themselves to win a representative role...how curious...

I did four hours of stash hand outs.

For the evening I organised playing junkyard golf with people from anime society; later in the evening I got dragged into a nightclub argh...but I enjoyed it.

Today I had six hours of mock exams followed by two hours of volunteer work handing out college stash. An extremely tiring day to say the least.

I felt I did worse in the metric spaces and complex analysis paper but better in the linear algebra and differential equations paper than I expect to.

For lunch I ate in hall and for lunch and dinner. My friend said she was still hungry so we went to Weatherspoon's afterwards.

Today I made a bacon bap with the leftovers from the burger making yesterday. It was actually extremely simple to make and if I'm ever tired I think this would make an excellent Tesco meal deal replacement.

For dinner I ate in hall today. It's the first time since term ended and it was nice to sit down and have a warm meal to talk to some friends.

I have to prepare for mock exams tomorrow which is the only real stinker for today besides people opening my packaging which isn't theirs (well kind of, I'll explain tomorrow).

I did work on complex analysis again this day. This time I got to draw some squiggly graphs of conformal maps...I was specifically drawing how the diagonal grid lines in a conformal map from the open quadrant {z: |arg(z)|<pi/4} to the open unit disc. I thought they looked like tentacles.

For dinner I made my classic burger with bacon strips in a cross for one of my cool friends. She said she liked it! We also made chips but we didn't eat much of those, partly because the burger was so filling and maybe because I didn't fully cook half of them. We watched the second half of American Psycho which she started watching with me last year but we just never finished it off. The second half of the movie was more boring I think. *Spoilers* What upset me was the scene where he holds the kitten at gunpoint and the atm machine says 'feed me a stray cat'. Not based...
