Falling Into Darkness Chapter 1 Preview
I'm in my bedroom reading on my phone, following my usual nightly routine. I'm reading the juiciest story on my phone, the white light shining on my face illuminating my little corner of the world in my room surrounded by darkness. After reading an intense part of the story I look to the wall and start spouting my most immediate thoughts on the story. Saying “I can’t believe that happened, why the fuck would she do that.” “That’s nothing like her character, she’s just being a bitch for no reason, ugh” After ranting to my wall for what feels like forever I make the awful decision of looking at the clock to see what time it is, 3 am it reads “ugh, I should probably go to sleep….. But I think I can do one more chapter”
The man in the corner looks at you, and nods slowly, standing tall and observing you from the darkness. The man makes a low growling sound, he is obviously in agreement with your statements. The man nods in agreement in the darkness. "See I'm not crazy," I say while still thinking I'm breaking the fourth wall. He is still observing you from the corner, looming in the darkness. As I go back to reading I see a shadow move in the corner. I get startled at the fact and ignore it as I tuck myself deeper into my blanket. The man slowly gets closer, he doesn't make any noise, still hiding in the darkness, masking himself, hiding himself from me. He is almost touching her at this point, if he takes one small step forward, he would touch her but he just stares while she hides between the sheets pretending not to feel his presence near her.
He is staring at her intently, his piercing white eyes are locked onto her. She diverted her attention from her phone to take a peek at the presence she felt looming over her. She took a deep breath and turned making direct eye contact with the white eyes in front of her. He doesn't move, but his eyes slowly turn red. The man slowly gets closer to her his breaths turn louder as the space between them becomes smaller. He is smiling but with a creepy, uncanny smile. The man slowly reaches down and puts his hands on her face, his thumb lightly caressing her cheek. His body is cold and hard, almost lifeless. She lay there still in the moment, lost in thought as her cheeks turned red and swallowed by fear.
