Art & Fashion Collaborations That NEED To Happen:

1. Tim Walker x Tanya Schultz

I would love to see these two magical worlds collide. If Tanya built a set for Tim, all of my fashionable fantasy and artistic dreams would come true. Both of these artists have an impeccable attention for detail and everything ethereal. This collaboration would be a match made in heaven.

2. Carine Roitfeld x Marina Abramović

These powerful women are known for pushing the boundaries and redefining what art and fashion really are. Although their work may be uncomfortable and controversial at times, together these prodigies would create absolute magic. I could see some sort of live and fast-paced photo shoot for the public to watch and volunteer for. The audience would observe the dualities of sexuality and awkwardness, glamour and humility, submissiveness and power, all directed by Carine herself. If that isn’t performance art, I don’t know what is.

3. Prada x Quentin Tarantino

Miuccia is no rookie when it comes to costumes. There is something about her unrestrained talent of fashion design combined with her futuristic approach. This collaboration would feature a maniac, femme fatale dripping head-to-to in custom Prada with a bad ass shotgun and her two bloodthirsty rotweilers. I think that Prada and Tarantino would channel each other so well. Not to mention, Prada’s latest collection looks like it could have filled the wardrobe for the cast of Natural Born Killers. Honestly, this collaboration is something that should have already happened by now. And already won an Academy Award for best costume design and best picture.

4. Christopher Kane x Dale Chihuly

I can see abstract flower brooches, colorful spiraling bangles and prints of Dale’s psychedelic hand-blown glass sculptures on the designs of British print master, Christopher Kane. Kane’s designs are 3D and really come to life so a collaboration between the two would combine the beauty of architectural fashion design and technical glassblowing.

5. Louis Vuitton x Pierre Hermé

When you mix the most iconic French fashion house with the most celebrated pastry chef in Europe, you get a fabulous and flavorful melange of elegance and sweets. One bite of the most luxurious (and expensive) pastries you have ever tasted will send your tastes buds down the runway and back.

6. Karl Lagerfeld x Nintendo

This video game would trump anyone’s interest in the Kim Kardashian game. I see Karl Lagerfeld as fashion’s Super Mario. In this game, you would play a caricature Karl with his loyal companion, Choupette (kind of like Yoshi…see where I’m going with this?). Some of your tasks include crafting clothing in limited time and gaining points for a PokémonSnap-style instagram photos. Your attack moves are poking people with a sewing needle and lifting up your infamous black sunglasses for a laser beam.

7. Steven Meisel x Robert Wilson

From a man who has revolutionized portraits to a man who invented an entirely new form, a fashion focused collaboration between these two artists would create the most captivating and renowned art. In Wilson’s most recent work, he tapped Lady Gaga for a video portrait that was featured in the Louvre. A video portrait, in a simple way to think of it, is similar to a .gif playing on repeat. Choosing from a list of Supers, Meisel and Wilson would dream up something darkly romantic, and yes, #iconic.
