The Denver Post published a strong editorial condemning Kim Davis’ actions, and the comments of Colorado State Senator Kevin Lundberg in supporting her.
From the editorial: “Kim Davis now says she will not interfere with her employees who hand out marriage licenses to gay couples, but the Kentucky county clerk continued to insist Monday that a judge’s directive "forces me to disobey God.”
It doesn’t. It forces her to administer the law as interpreted by the Supreme Court. If her religion and conscience do not permit her to hand out licenses to gay couples, than she is in the wrong job and needs to find another. Davis is hardly unique among officials who have found themselves facing that admittedly difficult choice.“

The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction weighs on in Kim Davis in an editorial warning Coloradans about the can of worms that religious exemption laws will open.
From the article: “We’ve seen this type of thinking lead to misguided bills designed to protect a person’s conscience. But they actually undermine freedom because they put personal beliefs above the law. They empower people to exclude others on the most whimsical basis…Since no two religions are exactly alike, we’d be opening a huge Pandora’s box of selectively applied discrimination.
"The cornerstone of democracy is equal justice under the law. While we think Davis is wrongheaded, she’s performed a public service by exposing the slippery slope of religious freedom.”

This weekend we joined Pflag Denver, Urban Peak, Rainbow Alley - Official, and the Denver’s GLBT Commission to train Denver Public Schools employees for their Building Safe and Inclusive Environments training! It was great hearing from the panel of young people and seeing so many educators to making their schools better for all young people.
