my opinion on quantum physics is that we should stop looking into it. it's none of our business and frankly the particles seem to agree

so what i'm getting is that seth milchick was once like miss huang and he's been working for lumon since he was a child and he has a lifelong mantra about ridding himself of childish whimsy and he got chastised for being nice to the innies and treating them like humans so a lot of what to us and the innies seemed patronizing or downright torturous was seth milchick's genuine attempt at rewarding them and treating them with kindness and he probably meant it when he told irving his innie is a friend of his because he cannot find solidarity in natalie or anyone above his rank and he has no life outside lumon so the innies are the closest thing he has to friends and they all rightfully see him as a tormentor and hate his guts. cool!

if you've ever used the London Underground you might have noticed that it often gets uncomfortably hot. the reason for this is actually that its builders dug too greedily & too deep and as a result the trains are very close to the fires of hell. hope that helps.

Fabian Seacaster is an enigma to me, not because of who he is, but because how I feel about him. Fabian Seacaster is entitled, spoiled, self-absorbed, rich, rude, and worst of all, a teenage boy. He believes he's the coolest person in the world and deserves everything good and cool to happen to him. You're supposed to like him, but want him to be humbled, go through character growth and realise everything isn't about coolness. Yet. Yet that's not the fucking case. Every single time Fabian tries something cool I want him to succeed. I want him to win all his fights even when it's unreasonable that he should. He starts PvP with Pete fucking Conlan, the sweetest guy ever. A trans man from New York with a pet butterfly who lives with five roommates and is best friends with a goth and 60 year old, he's always dressed in a cowboy hat and fishnet shirt. And I love him. And I'm still rooting for this entitled little shit to win. He doesn't deserve to. And yet.

In King Lear (III:vii) there is a man who is such a minor character that Shakespeare has not given him even a name: he is merely 'First Servant'. All the characters around him – Regan, Cornwall, and Edmund – have fine, long term plans. They think they know how the story is going to end, and they are quite wrong. The servant has no such delusions. He has no notion how the play is going to go. But he understands the present scene. He sees an abomination (the blinding of old Gloucester) taking place. He will not stand it. His sword is out and pointed as his master’s breast in a moment: then Regan stabs him dead from behind. That is his whole part: eight lines all told. But if it were real life and not a play, that is the part it would be best to have acted.
- CS Lewis on King Lear.

I think the most radical thing the hunger games does is tell young people that the most revolutionary thing you can do is have unconditional love for humanity. Katniss throughout the entire series is guided by a deep sense of compassion for the people around her. It is what causes her to volunteer, to bury rue, to mercy kill cato, its why she tries to save peeta, why finnick telling her to remember who the real enemy is works, and even though her compassion for the larger world falters when peeta is kidnapped, it comes back when she visits hospitals and asks for mercy for other victors and ultimately, it is love and belief in a better humanity that makes her kill coin. Through it all, she maintains an unfaltering belief in the fundemental goodness of humanity, which is diametrically opposed to dr gaul's and snow's worldview. Peeta is even more unwaveringly compassionate
So the series tells young people that the most revolutionary thing you can be is compassionate. Let compassion drive your politics. Let yourself believe in the fundemental goodness of people. And i think that's deeply important in a world that touts the superiority of pure reason or logic, to allow yourself to be guided by something as emotional as compassion. Katniss everdeen tells us that your politics should be rooted in compassion in a world that thinks detatchment or cynicism is intelligence and i think thats v cool

reblog this and tag with a food you no longer have access to (closed restaurant, state you moved away from, ex’s mom’s cooking, etc) that will haunt you until your dying day, mine are the spicy chicken sandwich on the employee menu at the fine dining restaurant I was a prep cook at, and the onion bagel from the kosher place down the street from my house when I lived in the city
