People in Ljubljana, Slovenia, have filled Republic Square, which is right across the street from the parliament building (visible in the first picture), with snow mounds representing Palestinians killed by Israel, and yesterday, they started lighting candles. They noted that in order to light a candle for every Palestinian who's lost their life in Gaza in the last months, they would've needed 25 thousand (way more than they could realistically manage). I found an extremely dope disability survival guide for those who are homebound, bedbound, in need of disability accommodations, or would otherwise like resources for how to manage your life as a disabled person. (Link is safe)

It has some great articles and resources and while written by people with ME/CFS, it keeps all disabilities in mind. A lot of it is specific to the USA but even if you're from somewhere else, there are many guides that can still help you. Some really good ones are:

How to live a great disabled life- A guide full of resources to make your life easier and probably the best place to start (including links to some of the below resources). Everything from applying for good quality affordable housing to getting free transportation, affordable medication, how to get enough food stamps, how to get a free phone that doesn't suck, how to find housemates and caregivers, how to be homebound, support groups and Facebook pages (including for specific illnesses), how to help with social change from home, and so many more.

Turning a "no" into a "yes"- A guide on what to say when denied for disability aid/accommodations of many types, particularly over the phone. "Never take no for an answer over the phone. If you have not been turned down in writing, you have not been turned down. Period."

How to be poor in America- A very expansive and helpful guide including things from a directory to find your nearest food bank to resources for getting free home modifications, how to get cheap or free eye and dental care, extremely cheap internet, and financial assistance with vet bills

How to be homebound- This is pretty helpful even if you're not homebound. It includes guides on how to save spoons, getting free and low cost transportation, disability resources in your area, home meals, how to have fun/keep busy while in bed, and a severe bedbound activity master list which includes a link to an audio version of the list on Soundcloud

Master List of Disability Accommodation Letters For Housing- Guides on how to request accommodations and housing as well as your rights, laws, and prewritten sample letters to help you get whatever you need. Includes information on how to request additional bedrooms, stop evictions, request meetings via phone, mail, and email if you can't in person, what you can do if a request is denied, and many other helpful guides

Special Laws to Help Domestic Violence Survivors (Vouchers & Low Income Housing)- Protections, laws, and housing rights for survivors of DV (any gender), and how to get support and protection under the VAWA laws to help you and/or loved ones receive housing and assistance

Dealing With Debt & Disability- Information to assist with debt including student loans, medical debt, how to deal with debt collectors as well as an article with a step by step guide that helped the author cut her overwhelming medical bills by 80%!

There are so many more articles, guides, and tools here that have helped a lot of people. And there are a lot of rights, resources, and protections that people don't know they have and guides that can help you manage your life as a disabled person regardless of income, energy levels, and other factors.

Fat people deserve mobility aids, too. No matter if it's connected to their fatness or not, because having a mobility issue that is connected to one's fatness won't change that they're still fat and still have the issue at hand. Fat people don't deserve to "tough it out" because fatness should be this divine punishment doled out to those who "deserve" it. Fat disabled people deserve to have the peace of mind that they can exist in whatever way is most comfortable and accessible to them

Campaign to make The God of Arepo an award winning work and win a literal brick as a trophy for the authors and for Tumblr community as a whole (SUCCEEDED!!!! Update below)

As the artist for one of The God of Arepo comics, my version is up for consideration for the Ignatz Awards for Outstanding Online Comic.

For those of you who don't know the Ignatz is one of the highest industry awards that "recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning by small press creators or creator-owned projects published by larger publishers".

The thing is, winning the award means winning an actual literal brick. Because the mascot is a brick-throwing mouse. So they have to make a bit where the trophy is a brick. Like. Look.

For a long time I thought it was just plain bricks they were handing out, but my friend who won a couple of bricks two years ago had theirs stamped (I saw the bricks in person at their house). So now I am obsessed with the idea of The God of Arepo winning an Ignatz trophy. It will have the honours stamped. On a freaking brick. That's the most Tumblr level meme trophy this comic/story could win (which is also a legit high honour industry award on its own btw don't get me wrong). But wilder than that, the brick allows me to do something. It allows me to smash that break into 5 pieces and ship one of each to the authors plus myself. Writing Prompts, sadoeuphemist, ciiriianan, stu-pot and me will get a piece of clay in recognition for our work with the farmer who built a temple out of stone. The full circle moment.

Imagine the value of this win to the lore of this Tumblr sacred text/folklore. This brick will be smashed and given to the creators, but as a collective folklore, it's also dedicated to all of us on this hellsite too. AWARD WINNING. If The God of Arepo wins I will document the entire process of smashing that brick here.

But we have to make this happen. We need to gather our collective energy and make this campaign work. FYI to sick or disabled folks and those who assist or care for them:  Simplicity patterns has a new line of adaptive sewing patterns.  Designs include tops with port access, clothing with velcro closures, bags and cushions for mobility aids, bibs, chemo hats, and more.

I’m excited about these because they are the first patterns of this kind I’ve seen anywhere.  And Simplicity patterns are great for beginning sewists, with very clear step by step instructions and illustrations.

With the news coming out of a lot Rooster Teeth animators leaving the company, there’s been a lot of worry over Rwbys future as a whole and concerns over where this leaves the series past volume 9.I just wanna say first off that I think people have the right to feel concerned, especially since this has been a really rough year for animation news as a whole. And I think the way Rooster Teeth has been treating not only CRWBY but all of their animators has been borderline scummy and shitty, especially since their animation division was quite frankly one of the only things keeping them in relevancy as an entertainment company. CRWBY and the rest of the animators deserve so much more than the crap they’ve been getting.

With that being said, I think it’s going to be okay, at least in terms of RWBYs future. The IP has become one of Rooster Teeth’s viable( and really one of their only viable) sources of relevancy for the company for awhile now. I don’t think they would risk out sourcing future volumes to other studios like they did with Gen Lock. This also doesn’t necessarily mean that people who aren’t apart of the company anymore can’t still be involved with future volumes, as writers like Miles who haven’t been involved with the RT for years is still one of the writers and is still voicing Jaun. As of now Kerry Shawcross is still the show runner for the series, and I doubt he’d allow the series to dip in quality, or worse, have the series be handled by someone else. Not only that, but RWBY as an IP is not only popular here in the states, but also overseas like in Japan. I mean hell, it was so popular that it was even able to get an actual Anime. A series doesn’t get that unless there was huge popularity surrounding it.

Maybe it’s just me trying to find a silver lining out of this shitty situation, but I think it’s going to be ok. I also think it’s important to voice our support for the animators that have been screwed over by RTs mismanagement and lack of planning. It’s appalling that once again it’s an animation division that gets the shit end of a stick. They deserve way better than what they’ve been given.
