Rating band names by my likelihood to obey them as commands
Train: 6/10. Not very specific, but regardless of context, I do need to do it more. However, I dislike effort.
Maroon 5: 2/10. Not sure what I am marooning five of, but it seems kind of impractical to do remotely, and I don't particularly want to be stuck on an isolated coast with these five entities.
Journey: 6/10. Only if I'm not tired.
OK Go: 5/10. I'm a big fan of leaving situations. However, if I am already unburdened by the horrors of situations, going might bring me INTO a situation, and that's the opposite of what I want.
Fall Out Boy: 4/10. I don't like conflict for no reason, but thanks for the gender!
Walk Off The Earth: 0/10. Gravity makes this difficult.
Elbow: 11/10. I am always ready to commit violence with my bones.
Meet Me @ The Altar: 9/10. Like the wedding type or the ritual sacrifice type? Either way, I should change outfits first.
Dropkick Murphys: 1/10. I only know one Murphy who I would want to dropkick, but she's probably old enough now for that to be immoral.
Mother Mother: 8/10. I'm told I have a chronic case of mom friend.
Panic! At The Disco: 7/10. The disco is difficult to find these days, but I am constantly in a state of near-panic, so I think I could make it work given the opportunity.
Rise Against: 8/10. Not sure what we're rising against, but I'm typically down for a good rebellion.
Smash Mouth: 9/10. Smash someone's mouth? With what? My fist? My own mouth? I'm usually down for one or the other.
Seal: 3/10. Not very specific. I've licked too many envelopes in the past month and I have no desire to repeat the experience.
WALK THE MOON: 3/10. I do want to do this. However, my opportunities to do so have been severely limited by NASA's security.
Spoon: 9/10. Yeah, I'll cuddle.
Foster The People: 7/10. Depends on the people.
Kiss: 9/10. Depends on who or what I am kissing, but usually there's someone around who is up for it. If not, I will kiss the nearest stuffed animal on their soft little head.
Cage The Elephant: 0/10. Cruel, unethical, and unwise. How dare you.
Rage Against The Machine: 1000/10. Fuck yeah, I will.
Imagine Dragons: 1000000/10. Ohohoho, don't mind if I do.

okay i’m really curious about this all of a sudden for no discernible reason so please reblog this post and say in the tags:
1) whether or not you need glasses, and if so whether you’re near-sighted (myopia) or far-sighted (hyperopia)
2) whether or not you have an astigmatism, or any other similar condition that affects the eyeball itself
3) whether or not you have any conditions that affect the eye muscles, like nystagmus
and finally, the subject of my curiosity:
4) whether or not you can unfocus your eyes at will. i don’t mean crossing your eyes by trying to look at the bridge of your own nose/your glasses/etc., i mean intentionally affecting a non-responsive stare where your eyes stop tracking things and stare straight ahead/wherever their most neutral direction is
#nearsighted+astigmatism#I can unfocus my eyes#but I have no further control of my focus#adult adhd#for the win#? i guess

This year has been one of the most challenging I've ever faced. My brain, my heart, my soul are all just so tired. My body is tired, too. The unhealthy coping mechanisms are taking their toll. Understanding that, understanding what I need to do differently seems to have little to no impact on my behaviors. I can't seem to care about that, though. This doesn't make sense written out, just like it's nonsense in my head, but I suppose it feels better to get it out. Grief is never easy for anyone, but I feel like I'm handling it very poorly.

one of the most amazing things that has been said to me in therapy is that self esteem doesn’t exist.
and that floored people and the psych went onto say that what she meant was that self esteem is a concept that actually includes a vast array of things and labelling them all as one thing is really limiting and prevents actual improvement
you could have real strong pride in the things you create and hate your body
you could hate your creations but also want to share them with people
you could not hate yourself at all but not take care of yourself, engage in reckless self endangerment
thats all bundled under ‘self esteem’ but saying ‘i need better self esteem’ doesn’t mean anything
whereas if you say ‘i need to work on ways to keeping myself safe, refusing to act on destructive urges’ or ‘i want to be in a place where i believe compliments trusted people give me’
thats concrete, thats a goal.
having it said in therapy helped a lot of people in my group stop saying ‘i have low self esteem’ and start specifying about the actual issue they have

My least favorite habit of certain (usually female) fans is when they try to find a “woke” reason to dislike a major female character. See for example, the argument that Yennefer of Vengerberg is “there primarily for the male gaze”.
Yennefer of Vengerberg is a woman whose storyline was placed front and center from the second episode and given parallel importance with the titular male character.
Yennefer is a character who is fearless, powerful, ambitious and selfish in equal measures, all of which are traits we rarely see in female characters period, and the narrative (and the lead male character) treat these traits generally as ones to be celebrated rather than decried.
Yennefer is a character who is given so much story beyond her relationship to the male character that when she has a moment where she has to think back to all of the painful and infuriating things that have been said to her, he never crosses her mind.
Yennefer is a character who owns her sexuality both before and after her transformation and her relationship with the lead male character is primarily on her own terms. (And the part that isn’t on her terms: the wish, is something that she gets rightfully angry about. And at no point does the narrative try to say that she made the wrong decision there.)
Yennefer is a character who is dressed according to female power fantasies. Her gowns are wildly designed, with crazy arches and sleeves, and they look fabulous but also very much in line with what a woman would choose as opposed to a man. And while sometimes she is nude, it’s always plot relevant and not presented in an objectifying or dehumanizing way.
Yennefer is a woman of color in a leading role in a fantasy drama that is both helmed and penned by women. (The original books are written by a man, sure, but the teleplay was written by a woman. The showrunner is a woman.)
Yennefer is not going to resonate with every single woman watching the show, sure. But she resonates with quite a lot of them. And she’s crafted with exactly the same “gaze” as every other character in the series. (Including the male ones who are miraculously free of this ridiculous complaint).
