Summer was at its full. Katniss went to the basement of their house to get the small pool (a gift from Effie) for her kids, so they can enjoy the weather.

Surprise, surprise! When she lifted the pool, a bunch a noisy meows filled the air. She screamed. Peeta ran down the stairs, thinking something horrible happened to her. When he saw the kittens, he just blew a whistle and chuckle.

Katniss was not happy. Peeta only managed to say that the family just grew bigger.

this is my first post in here but i gotta make it known

anyone who says katniss was forced to have kids in the epilogue by peeta because she never wanted kids is gonna have to fight me

how hard is it to realize that all she wanted was to be a mother and care for the ones she loved. it was the only thing that really kept her going through the war, the idea that her family, her children, peeta’s children could have a chance to live in a world of no worries of being reaped (which i’m pretty sure is something she said in catching fire if i’m not wrong)

peeta must of been so relieved 15 years after the war ended when katniss said she wanted children

and not because he’s been wanting them so badly and she finally agreed

because she now believes the world is safe for her children to grow in

anyways i’m going to go find a hole and cry

A/N: Despite starting this last year and working on it on and off since, I still only managed to finish this today. It’s a longer one at just over 10,000 words. Title from Frozen. Yes, Frozen, lol.

These past few months have been hell. Not only has Peeta been in and out of court battling his ex-wife for sole custody of his daughter, his new boss Ms. Everdeen won’t cut him any slack. So far, this holiday season sucks.

Someone Worth Melting For

The harsh clatter of high heels against linoleum announced her approach. Everyone sprang into action, a domino effect down the two rows of desks in the office. Madge clicked out of Pandora, which had been playing Christmas music behind the design she worked on. Delly shoved the brightly-colored wrappers of several Hershey kisses into her purse. With a wave of his arm, Finnick knocked all the Christmas decorations he had set out that morning into his desk drawer.

It wasn’t as if Katniss had forbidden them from celebrating Christmas. She just strongly discouraged a cluttered desk, and, for whatever reason, seemed to hate the holiday season.

Peeta shoved his cell phone in his pants pocket a second before Katniss rounded the corner. If she had heard Burl Ives urging everyone to have a “holly, jolly Christmas” as she approached, she made no indication. Unfortunately, she didn’t ignore the cell phone on Finnick’s desk. In his haste to hide the decorations, he had forgotten all about it.

While the rule about keeping personal phones out of sight during work hours existed before Katniss became their boss, she was the first one to actually enforce it. She was, above everything, a stickler for rules.

“Phone,” Katniss said as she walked down the aisle in between the two rows of desks.

The slam of Finnick’s drawer stopped her. She looked down at him, eyebrow raised. This was her usual expression when she was displeased. It was eerie how quiet she could be. Even when chewing someone out, she never raised her voice. She just turned that cold, disappointed expression toward her target and waited for him or her to wilt.

“Sorry.” Finnick forced a smile. “I was just eager to complete your request.”

“If only you applied such enthusiasm to your actual work,” Katniss said.

Finnick’s eyes widened, but before he could respond, Katniss disappeared into her office. As soon as the door shut behind her, Finnick tugged at his hair and pantomimed a silent scream.

hot take: Gale would be a good partner just not to KATNISS. they were way too similar and wouldn't be able to work out their trauma together. He needed someone like Peeta to compliment his personality, not a similar version of himself. Katniss wouldn't be a good partner to Gale either because at the end of the day, her heart lies with Peeta. (Also,don't forget that the movies lowkey butchered Gale. Book!gale was sympathetic towards Peeta.)

I finally was able to write the final chapter of my fic Merry Christmas, Baby, writing 1578 words, giving a total of 24859 words in my fic. Right now I'm re-editing my fic which has not been posted yet, making 2193 words so far. Let's see how the rest of the night goes 😊

Hi there. I know I've been out of scene these months. I had to be hospitalized for about a month and then forced to stay in bed for another month. Just like you, last week I got test positive for Covid again and feel same as you. I barely wrote 832 for my wip "Mery Christmas, baby". Hopefully will be finishing soon. Hang on there @mega-aulover drink a lot of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies, nothing to heavy for your stomach. Ginger tea with cinnamon and lemon. If you need more hints, let me know ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗

Week

So I found out I had Covid on Monday of this week. It's the first time I ever had Covid & I felt like I got hit with a mack-truck. I had planned on writing more, but couldn't. Thankfully I was able to write last Saturday, I wrote 3,218 for Everlarked Ever After : A Cinderella Story.

Happy August...how did you guys do?

I had a go at writing something…. Short and sweet (like moi!)

Nothing to do, nowhere to go but here

She remembers the first time. The first time she had nothing.

Nothing to do. No place to be. No one to save, no hungry mouths to feed, no house repairs, no calculations to make. No grief. No schedules.

She felt no overwhelming sadness. No fear. Just the feeling of … nothing.

Was she happy?

She lay in bed the sunrise illuminating the room and pondered this. Was she happy?

What was happy another part of brain countered?

She knew sadness. She knew rage. She knew panic. And yes right now she could say she was happy.

The bad feelings that lived in her would always be there she acknowledged but they no longer took over every part of her thoughts, her time.

(She reminded herself that she shouldn’t label her feelings as good or bad - feelings were not so simple)

But this nothing feeling, well this was very new. It was a lightness, a sort of freedom.

She had just woken with no to do list, no need to do anything really.

Her mind idly moving between thoughts, her fingers tracing patterns on the sheets, she wiggled her toes and scrunched up her face just allowing herself to exist in a moment with no plan.

She wondered if this is what life is like for other people- normal people.

Do other people have days of nothingness? She smiled at the thought, what once was a luxury was now her normal.

Beside her, she felt her love stir. He opened his eyes and his sleepy blue eyes focusing on her alert grey ones, a soft smile appearing as the he took her in.

“Hey,” he mumbled

“Hey yourself” she replied mirroring his smile.

“Whatcha doing?”

“Nothing, absolutely nothing. Care to join me?”

And as the sun rose in the sky Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark lay in bed holding hands and doing absolutely nothing.

There would be more nothing days, but this first one would always be special, the first time she became became acutely aware that life could and would be better.
