this is your daily reminder that characters within the found family trope aren't actually related nor are they supposed to fit in a stiff nuclear family dynamic where there's a mom and a dad and everyone else is siblings. Just the opposite actually!! These are supposed to be unique family LIKE dynamics that don't fit into your typical family roles.

This line of thinking doubly goes for comic families such as batfam, superfam, wonderfam etc. Admittedly I'm singling out batfam and have them specifically in mind with this post because I swear to god if I see another post about TimSteph or DickBabs basically being incest I am going to scream.

Nightwing 112: Dickbabs edition

1. Babs being a supportive girlfriend, ofc she knows about Dick's new found fear (because if you can't share your fears with your lover and best friend then with who will you share it??).

She asks Dick if he's comfortable with her sharing his gps info with Bruce bc she knows that Bruce has overstepped boundaries before ( he has done it not only to Dick but to her as well) and she wants to be sure Dick is okay with that.

But she also reassures Dick that Bruce wants the best for him. Which is true, Bruce might not always express himself well but deeply cares for his son. And Barbara knowing how much it means to Dick his relationship with Bruce ( and visa versa) puts a good word about Bruce here.

2. She's worried not because she doesn't trust Dick's abilities (she does) but bc she knows that it's getting personal to him

Why do Superheroes never get to officially settle down and start families (and if they do, WHY do the timelines always get written over or annihilated or rewound?!)

Like, seriously, the only time these two end up together is in an apocalypse timeline? What GIVES DC?!

So, in my frustration, BEHOLD! Dick and Barbara Grayson (later with their son Johnny) in a timeline where the world hasn't ended yet and they are all together! 😅
