Fort Corbin (or Forte di Punta Corbin) was a military fortress built to defend the Italian border against the Austro-Hungarian Empire (along the border line which can currently be placed between the province of Vicenza and Trentino), located at 1077 meters above sea level. It was built between 1906 and 1914. Due to its position significantly behind the front it remained practically inactive for the entire duration of the First World War.

Mount Cavalletto was the site of an advanced operating station where urgent cases from the front were treated, as the journey from the mountains to the main hospitals on the plain was long and difficult.
Cavalletto British Cemetery, one of five Commonwealth cemeteries on the Asiago Plateau containing burials relating to this period, contains 100 First World War burials. Some of these graves were brough in after the Armistice from Monte di Sunio British Cemetery, Caltrano.

One of 5 cemeteries situated on the Asiago Plateau, in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. Granezza British Cemetery is 9 kilometres south of the town of Asiago in the commune of Lusiana.
Here rest the ashes of the British writer Vera Brittain, former volunteer nurse in the V.A.D. during the Great War and sister of Captain Edward Brittain, who fell in battle on the plateau in 1918 and was buried in the Granezza cemetery, on whose tomb the writer wanted her ashes to be scattered at the end of her days.
