Have you ever made any Predator Birthday or Christmas cards? I have several people on my list that would love that. Your artwork is classy. UPDATE 2/2 After getting over the initial hesitancy, I had a blast doing it all, felt right and proper, went pretty quick too. I inked all the characters and elements separately - the foreground, background etc. Gave me a lot of flexible in terms of final placement, moved things around a bit. Though in the future, want to do it all together. I varied the width of the linework, thicker in the foreground, thinner in the background. Going to keep experimenting with this, push it even thicker/ thinner. Scanned it all in, put together in PS, then recolored on my iPad in Procreate. All in all, I feel like it’s in a much better place now, and I worked out a new creative process that I can build on going forward. So yeah, a step back, then a big step forward. Doing this type of art is totally different than the pop culture/ likeness based work that I’ve done recently, works an entirely different set of technical and creative muscles. I view all this exploration as getting back into shape, so to speak. UPDATE 1/2 I spent the last couple months reworking all the artwork I created for Twistadoon last year. After the dust settled post Holiday/Vday season, and after I finished up a bunch of shop related business, I started up some brand new illustrations of this strange new world. BUT, after some honest reexamining what I had done already, I realized the artwork wasn’t matching the vision that was in my head, it all just wasn’t up to snuff. Darnitt. Back to the drawing board. I wanted the linework to be thicker, more present, bolder, stronger. So after some hemming and hawing, I dived back in. Printed out all the previous linework on large 13x19” paper in light blue and inked over everything, using a combo of microns (graphic 1s, some 2s) plus 02s and PNs for detail, and some random bics and pencils for good measure.
