The fact that the s3 Mlvn break up is framed with bright lights and colors, in a crowded public space, the atmosphere is light, everything is played out as a joke, Mike just appears super confused and El laughs about it with Max. And then Mike spends the rest of the day messing around with Lucas and joking and eating junk food, instead of trying to talk to El to solve the situation. And El too spends the rest of the day laughing and having fun with Max. They literally each have one single shot of them looking upset about the breakup, Mike when the bus leaves with El and Max and El after Max says "ex boyfriend". One. And neither of them do anything to make up, Mike doesn't go after her, doesn't try to explain or apologize and El doesn't even try to hear his reasoning, why he lied to her. No, instead they go have fun with their friends, when they should be doing everything possible to make things right again between them.
Meanwhile the rain fight happens just the day after and it is intimate, it's only the two of them, in a private space, the light is dimmed, the colours are muted and somber, it's storming, the atmosphere is heavy and dramatic. Mike appears hurt and sad, just like Will. You can see the moment their hearts break on their faces, Will's because of Mike's words and Mike's because of his own words and the realization that Will wants to spend the rest of his life with him and he just fucked it all up.
"He'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness" oh he did, but not with his girlfriend, no, he didn't even consider the option to call her on the phone. He did it with his bestfriend, without wasting even a single second, biking across the whole town in the storm, running in the woods to find him when he wasn't home. In fact, he wasted no time before apologizing, when Will got mad he immediately tried to make it right, tried to make Will feel better. No just standing there looking confused, no complaining, no "what did I do wrong?". Mike couldn't stand the idea that Will was hurt and mad at him, that he was the one who had hurt him and angered him and he just wanted to make it right to him, right away. Both of them are deeply affected by the situation.
Everything about the fight, a fight between two friends, is framed with so much importance, so much severity, while a break up between two people who are dating and supposedly in love is just not. Ever. In none of the following episodes either. Instead it's made comedic. While the fight feels like being punched in the gut.
I swear I could talk about this for hours, it's all right in front of our eyes, it's right there and it always has been

WILL BYERS Is The Missing Piece In The Fight Against Vecna
the dnd game in the first episode of season 4 was a clear foreshadowing of events to come in their battle against vecna, evident through the fact that the game itself, is against vecna.
so far, everyone in the st universe has been calling eleven the only one that can save the world against him, and are thus desperately trying to bring back her powers to help win against vecna.
however, in that scene from episode 1, the club is down to the last two throws to win against vecna. dustin rolls first and the dice comes up with the number 11, which proves to be a miss and not enough to kill vecna.
i believe that this is direct foreshadowing, wherein el alone is not enough to fight against vecna's immense power.
the following throw by erica though, proves enough to kill vecna, and they win the game.
erica throws the number 20. now, the number of children that were experimented on in the lab is said to be somewhere around 18. el, kali and 16 others. but the experiment subjects' numbers began from 002, since the initial child with psionic powers, henry creel, was 001. this makes up 19 children.
i theorize that number 20, the twentieth child with psionic abilities, is going to be will byers. and he will be the one to defeat vecna and stop him.
why?
ever since henry creel was introduced to us, people have been noticing similarities between him and will. the fact that they were both sensitive children who were different from the others, and both wizards. dustin calls vecna a dark wizard, will's dnd avatar is a wizard called will the wise. this has led people to believe that will is going to turn into a villain just like henry, but i propose the opposite. to defeat a powerful dark wizard, you would need the opposite. a light wizard that can combat them with the same/similar abilities.
henry tells el about how painful memories and sadness and anger can help unlock powers. he implies that his powers were unlocked like that, and considering the similarities between them, will might also have latent powers as opposed to powers recieved through experiments, which can be unearthed. (although we don't know how, if he ever did, henry get his powers. it's possible it was naturally occurring or he received it from somewhere.)
i think when will gets taken by vecna in vol 2 (which, let's face it, seems more and more plausible), him going through all his trauma again might unlock his powers. will has always been regarded as special. the upside down is stuck in the day he got taken, he was used as a spy by the mind flayer, strong enough to communicate from under its' control, and still has a connection with it, being able to sense when it's close.
this season, i presume, will end with eleven failing against vecna and will unlocking his powers, which will then lead to the last season where they can finally win against him. either will alone or will and eleven together. the whole show began with will, it only makes sense for him to be the one to end it.

Some more broad scale predictions:
The Mike and Will storyline will be one of the emotional climaxes of the season.
Will will be the last person that Vecna curses and much of the finale drama will be trying to free him.
This will prove much more difficult than the others. They'll try to guess his favorite song and fail. Jonathan will say it's Should I Stay or Should I Go, but El will correct him and say he doesn't like it anymore because it reminds him of the Upside Down.
They will all be forced to reckon with the fact that they just don't know him anymore. They've all been so wrapped up in their own dramas that they just sort of lost him in the shuffle. Will has always been quiet. They used to make efforts to draw him out, but at a certain point they all just sort of forgot about him, let him withdraw into his shell.
Desperate, they will search his things to try and find something, anything, that might free him.
Mike will find the painting. The one El said was probably for the girl he likes.
It's the day he and Will met. The first day of kindergarten. On the swings.
And he'll be confused at first. Why would Will paint this for some girl? Why would he give it to...
And then it will hit him, all at once. What Will has been trying to say to him for so long. What it means. Who the painting is for, who it was always for.
And he will know at that moment that he is the only person who can save Will.
And then the power of gay love will pierce through the veil of the Upside Down and save the day. One way or another, whether platonically or romantically, Mike's love for Will will save him.
That's it. That's the post.

thinking abt how will spent all of st3 trying to convince his friends to play d&d with him only to finally give it up for the sake of conformity and then in st4 becomes the only member of his party who DOESN'T play d&d anymore

I'm seriously so curious abt what are non-army koreans/ locals think about KM and their dynamic? Like do they truly think nothing is going om between them or are they more like aware of everything but choose not to talk about it out of respect for them or not to create any danger/harm for them?
Ohh wouldn’t I like to know 😂
In all seriousness, it’s not something you can go around casually asking outside of fandom, you know? I don’t even really talk about general BTS stuff with non-army people, much less about the dynamic between certain members of the group. I mean frankly, who cares?
Another thing to consider is that the possibility of a celebrity being a non-heterosexual individual is not something an average South Korean thinks about. You don’t really think about the concept of queer identity unless you are queer yourself, have out queer people around you, engage in shipping culture, consume BL/GL content, or are actively interested in human rights.
I have a cousin who’s an ot7 2017 army. She’s in her 30s and works as a social worker in a hospital. I made the mistake of assuming that her professional background would make her somewhat knowledgable about different sexualities but she wasn’t. When Rose Bowl happened I showed her a gif of JK sucking on Jimin’s ear (I was that shocked), and she was just like, awww cuties. Like, the mouth-ear thing didn’t even register. That’s how unaware the average South Korean is.
There was also a colleague of mine who was in her late 20s, pretty socially aware and very into feminism. She’s a light fan of BTS’s music and can tell the members apart, but that’s about it. One day I recommended Serendipity and after listening to the song and its lyrics she said she found it hilarious that Jimin would call himself a calico cat, because male calico cats are sterile (she was making a virility joke). I told her it’s actually one of the reasons why some people interpret it as an allusion to same-sex love, which she quickly understood.
On the other hand, and I think I told this story before on my blog, but I have a non-army friend who’s a gay guy. Seeing the same Rosebowl gif, he just said “아깝다/akkapda/”, which in this case loosely translates to ‘pity’. The implication was that it’s a pity he or other gay men will never have a chance with either JM or JK, because they were already taken by each other.
Basically to answer your question, first of all, most of the general public don’t care about the specifics of the relationship between Jimin and Jungkook, and second of all, even if they were presented with some explicit examples of KM being too close to be platonic friends, they wouldn’t know enough to recognize it as something that points to them possibly being a real same-sex couple.
