and also obviously the hero & partner choices aren't the only thing that makes something alola-themed, especially when there's plenty of side characters who can be alolan pokémon. but still

and additionally there's only a one year gap between team pink & gti … also very narrow lol.

i think this is part of why I decided to make voices of life act mostly-autonomously, because of how close together these all are. they just see a problem and toss a human at it and aren't very worried if there happens to be bittercold or something happening on another continent

it is slightly awkward that the way I set up my pmd timeline makes for incredibly short gaps of time between games… oh wait actually have I posted a copy of the timeline on here. iirc it's:

gti →5years→ super →2years→ eos →1year→ rtdzx

and it's set up like that because it reflects the amount of time between when I played each game irl but story-wise it does cram everything quite close together towards the end.

But then the way I deal with that is just attributing it to continually degrading space or whatever… hehehe

but old-timey clothes aren't oswalda's style…! so she becomes a performer. but then that isn't her style either…!

camphrier town (oswalda's hometown) is an old-timey town with well-preserved historic buildings and traditions (likely kind of a tourist town). to this end, even the townspeople wear kind of old-timey clothes

to note is that melody abdicates the position after a few years which is why lance retakes the champion position (which alis then re-retakes)

so basically makoto fills in the roles of canon red (appearing in hgss and sm and meeting melody and indigo respectively) while alis... does something else

alternatively he could have previously gained the nickname blue from being a grump ?

ok the rival is named Jacred (after the glitch trainer). idk how he gets the nickname blue or whatever

that's another thing, palkia talking about the space distortions caused by takahiro existing (and I guess tomoko but I don't remember why partner is also apparently a space anomaly) is treated as Super Foreshadowing amongst the entire timeline. And then that does tie into the hypothetical original team

this is slightly mentioned in the original tags BUT the reason why this gallade goes renegade is because there have been steadily increasing dimensional rifts/ultra wormholes (does main series canon state if there's any real difference between these besides the names…?) appearing across the world, & it's decided to place the blame on all the humans that've been summoned in the last decade-ish. (and also blames kellen for being the one to make a wish for tenma to be able to stay in the pokémon world in the first place)

and then because they largely act autonomously. there's a "rogue" voice of life (a gallade) who has decided that humans remaining in the pokémon world will lead to doom and has gone out to try and kill them all

the "completion of a binary pair" angle is also interesting… hmmm i wonder if there's a way to simultaneously play that straight and yet also subvert it. maybe while there is strength in the bond between a human and a pokémon, that's not all it takes…? (but not only am I not sure what "more" would be, it also might contrast too strongly against canon pmd. and, also, I'm not actually quite sure why I'd subvert it because I like using bond as a plot point??)

Thinking about it, incorporating zygarde also does technically still make it alola-themed because of zygarde's extended cameo in sunmoon

also (also because gti was my first game/first game in the timeline) voices of life are kind of a big deal... there's a solid handful of them (iirc hydreigon kind of implies there are several ?), several being legendaries or mythicals and others being ordinary pokémon. some know they have this ability & some don't - for example, celebi has no idea she's technically the voice of life that summoned takahiro

altho I do definitely want to figure out this zygarde plot hook ideaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it'd be fun

actually speaking of original story ocs, the thing i mentioned about zygarde could be some kind of plot hook to work from ?
