completely unreasonable myst garroth angst ahead:

there's a scene in the last episode of when angels fall where zianna smacks garroth upside the head. the conversation goes like this (in case it's hard to hear):

"don't make fun of your little brother, do you know what he's been through?"

"i went through just as much too, i was mind controlled!"

"you should be setting a good example for him!"

and look. i know it's just a silly comedy clip between the family but if there's one thing you gotta know about me i'll take everything about garroth ro'meave too seriously

garroth absolutely gets blamed for what happened to zane by his parents. he's the older brother, the idea of hurting zane should never have even crossed his mind. since "love was able to break you out of it, it should've happened sooner". even if zane fights against that narrative and tells garroth differently, he'd absolutely internalise that blame.

it'll take a lot of therapy for any of these characters to recover from what happened after starlight. forgiving others is one thing, but forgiving yourself is harder than anyone can imagine

do you think dante was scared to fall in love. he felt it happening and it terrified him. but he couldn't stop it.

everyone who he ever loved left him. he'll never forget the unfamiliar look in his mama's eyes when he saw her for the last time. the scornful his expression his father wore and a 'stranger' disrupting his day. or the day lord aphmau disappeared, taking his brothers-in-arms too. he waited, and they returned, but they weren't the same people he once knew.

so when he falls in love with nana, he thinks she'll leave too. it's not a question of if, but when. it takes years until he finally begins to get over the fear. a daughter, and later a son, and dante is finally, at last convinced that maybe, this time will be different. the world wont forget him.

and the day gene comes, the day she asks "do i know you?" proves everything he ever feared. he begs and pleads with her, the same way he did his parents, the same he did with irene each night to just bring his friends back, please

dante's destiny is to be forgotten
