Episode 24: Bobi Carley, Head of Media and Diversity & Inclusion Lead @ ISBA
Planet Driven Brands Podcast Bobi Carley. Bobi is a highly experienced media and advertising professional who I have had the pleasure of knowing for over 25 years! Bobi is now heading up media at advertisers representative group ISBA and most interestingly for us, she is also the lead on diversity and inclusion, which within the advertising industry has been a particular 'conundrum' for many years and has most recently been brought into clear focus with the publishing of the 'All In Census' which is a start in bringing the problem up close and personal. Bobi's journey is fascinating as she describes taking on her role by accident and how, through monumental impacts such as George Floyd, it has taken over. She takes us through the work being done, the pushback and the work still to be done in an industry fashioned on a network, which can only be described as 'unhealthy' in its longstanding approach to diversity. There is so much to do, but there are small steps happening which will affect big change. She's excited that brands such as Nationwide, GSK and Mars have stood up to the challenge and is as excited by the collaborative approach, as she points out: "What's brilliant about inclusivity and diversity is the non-competitive element to it; that everybody, really genuinely, wants to work to change this industry!" So true, I love it. Count me in as an advocate!! Bobi's like all our panellists, is passionate not only about her role but the role everyone is playing in creating a better future. Episode 33: Jason Ash, Founder @ YoungPlanet Enterprises
Planet Driven Brands Podcast Jason Ash. Jason has a fascinating story to tell; one that started with a Radio Flyer truck and which has resulted in sharing, getting-rid-of-waste, platform YoungPlanet. From watching his son's excitement Jason developed an idea and we now benefit from his vision as he tackles waste in kids products head-on. The story is insightful, charming and instructive and Jason demonstrates fully the human nature of collaboration, whilst at the same time challenging us all to do more within a highly complex system. As with most of our guests Jason has interesting words to say on plastic and how we can better utilise its positive side. In fact Jason is a very positive guest who believes that we should do something about the "90% of kids stuff (that) lies dormant" and he passionately believes the way to do this is by giving, which in its own way creates a sustainable infrastructure and market. As he says: "The Joy of giving, whilst nobody's going to put a number on it in terms of monetary value, it does feel really nice to do that and in the process, of doing that, do the RIGHT THING!" Here, in Planet Driven Brands Podcast Jason Ash shares this passion for human collaboration and 'giving' with us. I think you'll love it and I certainly enjoyed the chat :) If you'd like to meet Jason digitally here is his LinkedIn profile About The Podcast The planet driven brands podcast is a library of thought leadership on brands and their responsibility to the welfare of the planet. Episode 32: Sarah Scudder, President @ Real Sourcing Network LLC
Planet Driven Brands Podcast Sarah Scudder. Sarah can simply be described as a 'super expert'! She is a global leader in the understanding and sourcing of packaging and here she goes directly to the actions required for all of us to make sure the packaging and waste, we are all responsible for creating, is moving towards a much more sustainable future. Using prime examples from Prana and IKEA Sarah helps us navigate from where we are now to what a sustainable future could look like. Sarah makes a very good case for why we should be more'plastic positive'. And furthermore, I challenge anyone to listen to the pod and not conjure up the smell of mushrooms...! In having a little dig at the 'Amazon Generation' Sarah is very clear on what needs to be done and everyone should take note as we all bear responsibility. As she says: "People are realising how much waste is being generated when they see a stack of packaging material and a stack of boxes sitting on their dining room table!" Sarah like all our panellists, is passionate not only about her role but the role everyone is playing in creating a better future and here she is very clear of the role packaging can play. Here, in Planet Driven Brands Podcast Sarah Scudder shares this passion and experience with us.
