I'm reading back on a bunch of my old posts from well over a year ago (when I still had my channel and posted on it) and I DID IT!!!
I finally got rid of a significant number of plants by throwing away unneeded cuttings, tossing pest-covered plants, putting some out on the curb, and doing a giveaway for one. I barely want to buy plants anymore but not in a bad way at all. I'm more focused on plant care and the aesthetic appeal of them.
Some random updates for shits and gigs: I'm kind of a hoya hater again, I've been trying to make sure nothing has an obviously visible nursery pots, aaaand this was dumb lol.
I don't want to do this anymore so I'll be done.

This might be petty, but I remember a few years ago seeing this person spend thousands of dollars on variegated monstera lechleriana, cutting them up, and selling tiny rooted cuttings for like $400. Acting like they were all cool and whatever because they were hard to find at the time. I haven't heard anything about them (I unfollowed bc I can't stand people who are only trying to run a "business" and don't post anything else) so I'm not sure what came of them. Probably having a real job again. Anyway, that's why I loveeee when commercial greenhouses start to tissue culture because then people who try to price gouge can't do it anymore and actually have to attempt food business rather than on "rare" plants.

I've been having the urge to purge, generally, but it's been hitting me with my plants too. I mostly love what's going on with the styling of my shelves and how everything is growing, but at the same time I want less.

I'm very much out of my mass acquiring phase of plant collecting. I'm very happy with the size of my collection and the amount of work it takes to maintain a collection of mostly settled in plants. I'm able to do more maintenance and aesthetic based tasks instead of having to constantly deal with new plant issues. I'm not even 100% sure what that means, but it makes sense at the same time. My shelves look much cuter since I can take more time to focus on how they look. My plants are generally healthier because they're all getting noticed now that the focus is off acquiring. I have a small wishlist of things I'd like, but I'm not dying to get anything right now. I'll get something if I like it, but I've had an incredible sense of control and even desire to mass aquire.

Today, plant wise and so far, I've...
Repotted: philo Colombia, neon pothos, epip. albo (gave it a trellis), philo Jose Buono, and probably more.
Watered: golden pothos, monstera expilata, syngonium pink mixed pot, syngonium wendlandii (also gave this a trellis), epip. aurea, and definitely more.
Went outside to spray the shit out of the lime tree with (dormant whoops) horticultural oil, it can't hurt I hope. I also sprayed the olive tree because why not. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Potted up my sprouting hyacinth bulbs out of the fridge and put them outside.
Cut up my fern leaf cactus. I currently have one 4" pot that's been in soil for a while, another 4" pot that's rooted and freshly in soil, and a glass of a few top cuts to root. I also have a pot of 10 mid cuts to root to trade/sell/give away. I watered the scraggly looking (aka super cut up) base and hung it on one of the hooks outside. I don't think I want to keep it unless it gets unreasonably gorgeous outside over the summer. I'm hoping to keep 1-2 small to medium sized pots of it so I can keep cutting them in the future to keep them cute looking.
I've been doing my best to clean up as I go. At least between tasks. I'm likely done with big plant chores for the rest of the day. I got the "official" list of repotting done so I'm pleased. I'm actually very pleased with everything I got done today with my plants.
I'm done now. I'm about to head out to Esbenshades partly because I need some soil supplies but mostly because I want to.

This is going to sound like I'm hating, and I guess I am a little bit, but I hate that so many people I really enjoyed their plant content are moving away from it. Like some people now only post about their shops, some switched to gardening, some switched genres completely, and some just straight up don't care about plants anymore. That's fine, it really is. But it's hard because I have a separate plant page specifically to follow plant (or even vaguely plant-related) pages. Houseplants, specifically, is what I joined the community for. I get conflicted on if I should unfollow non-friend people that have moved past plants. On one hand, I like to keep the content varied even within the topic of plants. On the other, it's a plant page and I try to mostly/only post about plants or plant related things because ultimately that's why I'm there. On my stories I'll talk about thrifting, the cats, nature pictures, etc. but I don't think I could ever completely move away from plants.
I guess it's a privilege to love something so much for nearly 9 years that you can't stay away from it completely. For me, I can't imagine not having a large collection.
To be continued...

I broke my syngonium strawberry milk and was sad about it but now I have 2 fully rooted base cuttings that have at least 2 growth points each. And (I think) 4 lightly rooted growing stems plus a couple more not quite rooted not quite growing stems.
I want to separate some of my milk confetti to finally do the huge syngonium podophyllum mixed pot I've been wanting to do forever. But I'll have to reduce the roots on the mojito and others already in there because I don't need an even bigger pot. Or do I? 😏

I want to do a plant purge of some sort because everything is getting too big/full and it's overstimulating. BUT I'm going to let myself get out of this little mental health rut before I start heavily chopping or tossing things.

I rearranged some of my bathroom plants to accommodate the new syngonium trellis:
Tumblr media
That was the first step in growing a huge syngonium podophyllum varieties. I have some aurea cuttings rooting but still have a pot because I haven't gotten to admire it on it's own for long enough yet. I traded for some more albo cuttings to add in. I just got syngonium milk confetti, strawberry milk, and Regina red. I definitely want to enjoy each of those on their own for a while. If anything I'll separate a baby whenever it is I repot them specifically to grow to put in my variety pot.

The idea of leaving my plants for more than 3-4 days makes me really nervous 😩
I'm trying to catch up with everything that I possibly can instead of putting it off like I usually do (#overwatererturnedunderwaterer) but I'm still really nervous. I wish I had a local plant friend to come watch everything for me, even just to stop by once to check on my pon plants.
I'm also trying to streamline watering the veggies as much as I possibly can for the pet sitter but I'm still meh. Two of the herbs died because they were the only ones without the essentia water bottle "globes". So far that's working well since we don't have a hose or any way to do irrigation while we live here.

My bff and I had Chinese food for dinner the other night and I thought to pull tarot cards after our fortunes to see if they have similar messages. They both had similar messages and the cards were relevant to our current situations. The more I work with my deck the more I believe that tarot is more than just for fun.

I did so many plant chores today. I...
took down and completely re-staked my micans.
emptied, cleaned, and reorganized the upper three shelves on my big shelf.
pruned a bunch of dead/dying/ugly leaves.
cut my m. acacoyaguensis back to start over.
cut and completely started over my vsoh.
And that's what I can remember specifically. That's probably most of it actually lol. But I've been trying to slowly get rid of stuff that doesn't "bring me joy" (I hate that phrase but it's the fastest way to say what I want to say 😝). Reorganizing my shelf helps because there was just something about it that was bothering me. The other day I moved most of my succulents to the left kitchen window (by the fridge) because the other window is so crowded it needed less visual interest. I hope I'm not getting into another hyper focus period with my plants because they seem to suffer more when I spend more time doting on them. I'm definitely more in tune with them than I was before and I'm finally out of the overspending phase of it - thank fucking god - so I'm not worried about regret or anything like that.
Idk where I'm going with this anymore, I'm tired.

Black salt: salt and herb/incense ash
Its purpose is to drive away those that would do you harm (whether physical or spiritual). Used for protection and cleansing.

I wanna to put all of my hoyas in soil someday, or maybe even prettier containers idk, but that won't happen. It feels like everyone's hoyas grow a lot better than mine which is annoying. But then again it seems like everyone else's plants in general grow well. Then again people mostly only show their successes so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can't stop won't stop being overly generous with my plant trades so I can get rid of extra cuttings/plants I don't want 😝

All of the stuff I've been putting up for trades lately has been getting snatched up. I'm even trading plants for some vintage items which is so fun!!! I'm mostly trading for hoyas which is meh (I've been buying and trading for them more but I'd rather have aroids tbh) but I've been enjoying myself. I've been using trades as an excuse to get rid of some stuff I don't want anymore. I've been a bit overly generous but it makes me happy so 🤷🏼‍♀️
