i’ve decided to split max’s london verse into two separate verses because i really want to add a verse specifically set after paris but before his arrest– when he’s working in some second-rate ( for him, anyway, considering he did just come from jean-luc’s ) restaurant in london and trying to deal with the still-fresh fallout of paris.

i’ve tweaked max’s card a bit and updated my mains to include evie’s sharon ( @thirt13n ) and nika’s adam ( @burnedup ) because they’re the most important ppl in max’s life and i figured it was about time i did smth about it 🥺💕

max’s introduction scene establishes him as someone with a temper. however, max also says it took three fuck-ups before he snapped- so while he does have a violent kind of anger, his patience has a long fuse and it can take a while to get to that explosion. which is interesting when you hold it up to adam’s anger, which is a flash in the pan. it burns hot and bright for a short period and then its over. he puts it behind him and he moves on.

max holds it together when adam starts yelling during their failed opening. he says nothing when helene quits. the thing that finally makes him snap? michel’s betrayal. adam is the one who shuts down and max is the one who explodes, throwing equipment at the wall. giving in to the violent impulse. breaking things. i don’t have an ending here but i just needed to point out how they are literally each other’s yin and yang. they balance each other out.

crazy how my favorite two scenes from burnt aren’t even actually in the movie lmao. in one deleted scene, the chefs want to drug an enemy food critic with a dressing made from max’s weed ( and adam only decides against it because it would leave a bitter aftertaste that wouldn’t fit the meal ) and in another, adam stands up for one of the waitstaff who got yelled at by a douchey customer.
